I HAVE DONE WORK, IN THE MEDICAL JOURNALISM FIELD FOR YEARS. I SEE THE COMPILED STATISTICS FOR CANCER. HERE'S A
FACT: A MAMMOGRAM, WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO SHOW BREAST CANCER EARLY, CAN ACTUALLY CAUSE IT. EACH MAMMOGRAM, INCREASES THE RISK FOR CANCER ABOUT 2% EACH YEAR. AFTER 10 YEARS IT STARTS TO ADD UP. DENTISTS LOVE TO DO "PANORAMIC XRAYS" AND SINGLE TOOTH XRAYS, AS "STANDARD PROCEDURE" EVERY TIME YOU SIT IN THE CHAIR.
YOU WONDER WHERE THYROID AND BREAST CANCER COME FROM?
Good resource for women looking for answers. We're always looking for news on breast cancer and breast cancer awareness; we're very passionate about spreading the word and helping those who are affected. Thanks for sharing!
@AgendiaInc You are welcome, we just filmed two episodes on Cancer Awareness with the Toms River office of the American Cancer Society. These will be live in about one week, I will send you the link. These episodes are not specific to just Breast Cancer. I have subscribed to your channel and would be happy to help you spread awareness of Breast Cancer.
Here is an idea to help fund breast cancer research. Since most women use cosmetics, women could simply not buy any makeup (or razors or whatever) for one year, donate that money to research, and use the time they save in volunteering. Great idea - I don't see how it would not work. Seriously!
My mother had breast cancer but Im sick about hearing about it . I never hear anything that women are doing to help prostate cancer its always about them . it gets old after awhile
You know something...I stumpled onto this and was going to say the same thing. I'm tired of it too...do women think its any less traumatizing for a male to have testicular cancer?? Its a womans world now and they play this card like crazy.
No harm in people caring about a serious cause. It doesn't mean they care any less about prostate cancer but there's no need to hate. It's a lot worse losing one breast than one testicle because having only one breast is very noticeable... especially naked...
I'm scared because I am a boy and recently one of my nipples have had a lump and it was never like that before. The other one hasn't changed from what I can tell. Please help this is scaring me.
As a 3 year survivor, I can say if you find something, demand a biopsy. I was told mine was not cancer and I was stage 3C with 14 positive nodes. I demanded a biopsy and had treatment. Now I have cancer again. Many of the survivors I talk to had the same experience. Not all cancers show up on the mammogram so check, check, check!
Most people taking Taxotere chemotherapy experience hair loss given that chemotherapy drugs act on rapidly dividing cells such as the cancer cells, and cells that produce hair. The extent and location of the hair loss varies from person to person. Hair generally grows back after all Taxotere treatments are completed so you may want to check with your oncologist or even the drug manufacturer for more info on permanent loss. I am sorry if you are going through this.
self exam and other forms of exams/tests are not prevention!
they are early detection!
prevention is what you can do to NOT get cancer, e.g. avoid toxins like petrochemicals (e.g. in body care products) hormones (e.g. contraceptives), certain metals (aluminum in antiperspirants), also avoid X-ray exposure (e.g. mammograms!), do not even look at genetically modified foods (harder and harder to do) etc. etc. etc.
Dr. Walden: Is there anyway of requesting a breast ultrasound after receiving a category 3 birad score? Also, if you could speak to the specific birad categories in general that would be helpful.
Your mammogram report includes many technical details, and one section will show you a Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BIRADS) score. This indicates the radiologist's opinion of the absence or likelihood of breast cancer. Understanding this score is important to your diagnosis and treatment, if any is needed. Discuss your results with your doctor to make sure you understand what it means for your breast health, and if any additional studies are warranted.
A breast ultrasound examination is not considered a screening test, but an investigative technology used for taking a closer look at areas of your breast that your doctor still has questions about after doing a mammogram and clinical breast exam. An ultrasound test may be useful if your mammogram shows an indistinct mass, or if a lump can be easily felt during a clinical breast exam. Be sure to ask your doc about getting an ultrasound if you have any questions or concerns with your mammogram.

My mammogram found a 1.5 mm abnormal cells (puts me at increased risk for cancer) in a duct that I never would have felt. Mammograms work.
