Model 7s don't have 7hp motors, they're typically around 12hp. The amp draw both on start up and running is too high to be a 7hp motor, the readings we've gotten on both Jeb's and Chauncey, GA's suggested the motors were 12.-something horsepower. Same thing with Model 5s too, most had a little over 5hp motors. Only exception is the C-3 1/2, which I think it may truly have a 5hp motor, but I'm not 100% sure as I haven't gotten mine yet, so I haven't gotten any amp readings on it either.
i would not mind it for tornado warrings but for fire calls no thank you

Cool! I live in the same town this is located and there is a siren right in-back of my house.

Ohhh, I would "LOVE" that--a siren RIGHT in back (without the hyphen, even) of my house!
Or right next to my house, or right in front of it! How "LOVELY!"
Well, I do have one right IN my house, but not that big and it's under my complete control.

How do you know?

The fast wind up gives it away
Model 5 = 5HP Motor, moderate speed wind up
Model 7 = 7HP motor, high speed wind up
soccerdude7330 2 years ago
i prefer a model 5, i like slow wind-ups. not too slow though.

I bet you could imagine hearing that model 5 going off during a tornado warning. :)
