  • The pilgrimage should be to the stars, where he is now amongst the Super-Novas... but this is a start...

  • I've never been such a happy stalker in all my life. 302. 302! It's a new 42.

  • Just so you know, people who make a pilgrimage are known as pilgrims, not pilgrimagers. :)

  • I'd do a pilgrimage to his door just to leave a note saying "Thank you for the awe and chance to think critically. had it not been for you, I may never have known the joys of skepticism and wonder"

  • lol this guy is wearing sandals...

  • i am hopinh there is an afterlife, just because sagan lived.

  • Hey thanks; I hope he is somewhere in an universe far far away and would be watching this a 100 or a 1000 years from now.

  • That Ficus tree is not happy!

  • @1971SuperLead

    Vote Ficus 2012!

  • On that big elevator David Letterman from the Tonight Show can place 40 Santa Claus going to see Carl Segan's door :)

  • Did you travel all the way to Cornell just to see this door?

  • hehe... watching a video of a door.. yes very pedestrian...but now I'm reading comments about a video of a door! What the hell is that called?! Oh BTW I Love Carl too :)

  • @bethanysage

    > What the hell is that called?

I don't know, but we have it.

  • We're not worthy!

  • There shouldn't be a shrine, but rather a statue of Carl, or at least a bust.

  • @ClamCrunchy Agreed. There's a perfect place right in the corner of the hallway where the plant is...a nice status of Carl in his twead jacket, hands in it's pockets, looking up.

  • Current occupant? That office should be sealed and made a shrine.

  • You are far from alone in thinking that. But this is Cornell.

  • @SaganAppreciationSoc Come on. Would Carl Sagan want that?

  • @les777pl

    Wanted what?

  • @SaganAppreciationSoc Shrine. That's what the comment above says.

  • @les777pl

    Trekgeek1 posted that. Ask him.

  • nice sandals btw =D

  • Carl 4ever

  • Are those ufos on his door?

  • No, those are posters.

  • Carl is 4EVER

  • omg! Its a door! xD

But it could be wise of he university to charge people entry to the office. I am sure they could turn it into a mini museum of sorts...

  • sacred room 302, should be enshrined/memorialized.... or just let some other astronomer take over?

  • LOL!

  • Elevators? Where are the teleportation devices?

  • Were you the person who take the video and speak?

  • Thank you!!

  • ha ha ha! Lil bit pedestrian, yeah. I don't know what I expected, maybe some sort of tube that delivered Carl straight to his desk.

Maybe something along the lines of the craft he was "in" in Cosmos. . .

Thanks for the vid. Interesting to know, that I too, have walked along a very similar corridor that is so ordinary.

  • Thanx for letting us peek!♥

  • nice

  • Thanks for that. I visited Cornell University in 2000 with the same intention of finding Carl's office, or anything making reference to him, but came up with nothing.

  • 2010 marks the 30th anniversary of COSMOS and we plan something special. Can you make it in 2010?

  • Hey, sorry for taking so long in replying. Depends on the timing, Jan and Feb are slow months for me, the rest of the year I'm very busy. I'd love to join.

  • Perhaps Feb 14th, AKA Pale Blue Dot day.

  • Very cool.

  • Smiling. Dunno why. :D

    Thanks, as ever.

  • That must have been an all time "high" so to speak. Wow, Carl was an amazing man and unfortunately passed away far too young. Only the good die young !!! Great video!

  • Very nice, 5 stars!

  • cute :D

  • Right back at you TMT.

  • nice!

  • That's right. I'm giving 5 stars for a video of a door.

    I'm not ashamed...

  • ...And I just watched a video of a door!!

Surely I could have thought of something more constructive to do but hey, as philhellenes, I'm smiling!

  • great video, make sure not to invite your camera shy friend next time.

  • This is what youtube is all about... thanks...!

  • And what a door it is!!

    LOL

If I were in New York, I might do something like this, too!

  • Thanks for posting.

  • nice!

  • Cool

  • Carl.

  • There seems to be nothing fancy behind this door, quiet modest I assume.

    I like that.

  • Yes i think it was fairly modest. Much like his grave, which is very very humble - in the extreme. Many of us would prefer a monument that would survive the eons.
