  • Looks very cool!

  • Nice work on the documentary (and I guess on the running part, too).

  • i am sort of doing my own doc on running, starting at age 8 running 5 km in hopes of a scholarship, check my channel out!

  • this guy speaks so gently like ted in wongfu

  • busy on facebook.. 0:42 haha

  • just as I thought our profession could not get any less manly

  • I'm going to eat 200 pieces of chicken nuggets a big mac and super size fries before i run the 24 hour race

  • Love this...Thanks for sharing! Check out the Reactivating Dean Running Series on my channel featuring a local police officer learning to run.

  • And here I was, feeling really athletic running 8 miles every few days...

  • Thanks it was a very nice insigth on what running a 100 miles is.

Is it possible to run such a distance using only water, dates and sandwhiches?

Being a pharmacist you probably asked yourself that question many times.

  • mile 88? I can't even do 2 lol

  • 7:26 - 7:29 where are you people looking?

  • cool little short doc. nice work

  • oh and know i am 14

  • hello i am i long distance runner i have been runnig since i was 4. all i can say is IT"S FUCKING HARD to meet your goal this is NOT something you can learn over night.there was 136 girls running i got 11th k. my knees are fucked the docters want me to not run anymore but i will NEVER give up my dream.

  • i only run a mile a day....are u superman?

  • A good reason to run is at 7:26. :)

  • This really makes my 26 mile runs seem like a piece of cake now....thanks for the inspiration :)

  • This was extremely cool. I run cross country at my school, and my friends and I watched this one day during practice. I think ultramarathons are very extreme for my skill level, but I would be willing to try it any day!

  • he so humble and a great athlete

  • is there a age liment? cuz im 14 and i have run 40 miles on a trail i wanna try this

  • @aulea1 No, give it a go mate! There will be a distance reduction... You have to be 18 to do a proper marathon. But get the miles under your belt.

  • Really enjoyed this. Thanks.

  • Wonderful!

  • I seem to be fitter when i run drunk!

  • @Supplementreviewdude lololololololololololololololol xD

  • Wow, so he wasn't a big runner until after college? Thats inspiring, I didn't really get into running until the end of high school. I always thought ultramarathoners were freaks of nature who always ran.

  • 5:28 why are u standing around? RUN!

  • Thur, I ran like 2 blocks while drunk when I saw the liquor store was closing. I also needed a pack of smokes.

  • What type of running technique do you use when running? Form, Chi, regular technique?...

  • thats seriously awesome. i wanna run for 24 hours. Maybe in the winter though. It gets too hot in the summer

  • How do you get your earphones to stay in your ears when you're running?

  • @ncacace Try wearing an bandana like ninja, that always keeps my ear buds in and its fashionable.

  • He should have gone on a fruitarian diet.

  • 43 hes on facebook

  • he's very good looking

  • awesome! motivates me to keep working to my 10k goal

  • wow i would've completely forgot my ipod would die, and running without music is not as fun

  • @baconsizzle121 Thing is if you do an ultra, you pretty much listen to all your favorite songs too many times. You just want to ditch the thing after 2 hours.

  • @nardpuncher no way lol i can make a playlist over 24 hours...

  • I ran 129.2 miles in 24hrs two weeks ago, it all comes down to mental attitude over fitness

  • Wow, I'm struggling with my ability to run 1.5 miles for basic training. And this guy ran 100 in one day. Damn... Great job, wish I could run like that.

  • i can only run like a mile and a half and i am 17

  • He's on facebook when he is talking about being stressed and his career at the start

  • This is inspiring!

  • the san francisco marathon will be my first marathon..19 more days..after I conquer the marathon I plan on building my way up to an ultra...

  • @BboyStance1211

That's awesome. I'll be there too. It'll be my second marathon. So pumped, can't wait

  • what were the settings on the h4n for most of this? and how far away from the subject was it? thanks!

  • @tristanfc2 Not sure about all the settings, generally recording at 48/16. For all the race/post race interviews it was on a boom and probably 3-4 feet away from Charles, with the mics set to the 90 degree spread. For the sit-down interviews we used a Countryman B6 lav which is taped just under his collar, it slipped down at one point early on which is why the tone changes after the first minute or so.

  • Nice video! I'm running the SF Marathon this year for my first full. Good info in your video, thanks

  • I liek how he's talking about stress at work just as you see the screen on his computer show the facebook hoempage :P

  • @rgs650 hahaha yeah i noticed that straight away, weak!

  • as a pharmacist he should know he shouldn't be taking Tylenol while running as it changes the way your blood flows to your muscles epically your kidneys.

  • @slingshot489 Geek. :D

  • @windex1234 yeah well i don't know all the specifics about this I just remember my high school cross country coach telling my team about this and how it could harm you.

    ps. I like you'r channel

  • @slingshot489 Actually, anti-inflammatory drugs have that effect. Tylenol is not in that same family. It is safe on the kidneys. You should avoid all NSAIDs like Ibuprofen, Naproxen... while running ultras. They do decrease renal artery blood flow and increase the risk of acute renal failure. I'm glad you're thinking about your kidneys while running. Just remember its the NSAIDs and not Tylenol that are the culprits.

  • Love the way he said "I, I really need a beer"... sure was deserved. I really enjoyed watching this!

  • In England, bonking is a very different thing..

  • Im prepairing this year, and have been taking Citruaid , which is a natural amino acid drink, I started trying it cause Sheila Taormina was taking it, and I was curious, I have had insane good reults with Citruaid compared to anything on the market, and I espeacially notice the extra natural energy when i need to go great distances like Tri's

  • Did you reduce the noise in post even after using the H4N?

  • @kenkraker No, we didn't do any noise reduction in post, generally haven't had to with the H4n.

  • Amazing! This should be an Olympic sport. I just ran 8 miles and felt proud, this puts me to shame.

  • amazing... i did 10kms today and that was alot !no way i could even come close to that! really amazing!.. love how he needs a beer lol

  • Great work! Congratulations. I am training to complete my first 50k this year. Hope to be at the 100 mile level before too long!

  • great video, thanks!

I"m running the 2010 race and this helped me think about some things

  • Great Film! It is amazing! and of course Charles is Amazing!! Still... this stuff isn't on my bucket list.

    - Calvin

  • This is great. An extraordinary aspiration for sure.

Makes us want to get up off of the couch!
