  • @OeraliusTarth ohh is it? i never knew. i was born in November 89 and i just remember this song being around a lot growing up. great tune either way.

  • wow i play this this song every day this is the bomb try rock band version

  • @mskai210

  • Where's jools Holland.

  • @UBZUKI jools was long gone by this time!

  • Classic quality music....

  • Fuck Vice City I know this song before of the game.

  • @DonVanVliet83 I hear that...

  • @DonVanVliet83 STFU and enjoy the music. Im not really interested if you knew this song before vice city and I think that not many other who has seen your comment has cared too much either. Just saying -.-

  • thumbs up if your here for squeeze not some stupid game all about drugs and nudity

  • @possumonu2 thank God!

  • I totally thought these dudes were black when i heard this on the radio.

  • My fav Squeeze tune by far.

  • ladies and gents,on backing vocals,Debbie Harry and the Elementary School Teachers! lol, love these guys....

  • The version that was on the "Reality Bites" soundtrack is slightly different from this version. During the chorus, Paul Carrack sings with more pronounced diction for some reason. It sounds like "Temp-ted by the frooo - TUV - anotherrr..." or something. Hope that makes sense. It's great that it found another audience. "My Sharona" is on that soundtrack too.

I still don't get the dancing chicks in the background. Oh wait... BOOBS!! THAT'S it!!

  • What a wonderful sound and such memories of the Fab 80's.

  • I love the images invoked by the first verse

  • The song is good but the video is trash

  • A hardcore band used this song for their sound check last night. The singer walked back and forth singing the main chorus. Hahaha.

  • ok i see now. this song was off of the reality bites sountrack that came out in 94, and i guess thats why this song got played alot on the radio in 94. i just dont understand why i never heard this song before until 94 if it actually came out in the 80s. was this song popular in the 80s or did the reality bites movie just make it more popular than what it was before when it 1st came out?

  • @xxhollisterlovexx1 Surprisingly as popular as Squeeze were it didn't chart that well in '81 when it 1st came out. I seem to remember that their 1st 2 albums were slow burners so when this one came out I just cut to the chase & bought the LP knowing it would all be good. I don't think the '93 re-release was drastically changed - how do you improve on perfection?

  • i thought this song came out in the 90s. the 1st time i remember hearing it was in 94 when i was 14 and there was this new movie that came out, and this song was on the soundtrack. these people are dressed like the 80s in this vid. if this song actually came out in the 80s, why didnt i hear it till 94? a radio station i listened to then even played it over and over again back in 94, but i never heard it in the 80s. did that movie make this song more popular than before?

  • gilson lavis..one in a million..subtle in your face drums.

  • I love Paul Carrack and Squeeze! Thank U:)

  • i always thought a black man sang this

  • i wish the 80s and 90s songs msuic was still here :( lately music hasnt been any good anymore :(

  • 2011!

  • Heard this in 1977. Still is fresh. Thanks Groucho!

  • @promoprz thats funny, becuase it wasnt released till 1981

  • Smoke a cigarette, drive your car around, and enjoy this song. What more do you want? ;)

  • MR PAUL CARRACK

  • Great song. Makes me want to cruise and look for sexi girls. XD

  • Brilliant song that gets better with each listen..

  • Well put Chumpy,an amazing tune from the early 80's.

  • No Jools Holland- Thank God!!!!!!!

  • I do love this song, but....it also feels like Michael McDonald with the Doobie Brothers...right, but wrong at the same time.

  • Damn CuumpyG Life is too short... get back in the grove bro... and I know where your coming from...

  • Thankfully, i still hear this on the radio from time to time...

  • Easily one of the top-3 pop songs songs of all time.

My ears like the sound of it every time I play it.

  • NO VUELVAS....

    NO VUELVAS, SIN RAZON.

  • I've said it before and I'll say it again. The blonde on the right is my dream girl.

  • HD my balls

  • Those chicks are groovin'

  • I have always loved this song.

  • I can really relate to this song as i, like the writer/s of this song, also found myself in an invidious position with the local green-grocer/fruit-seller i'd frequented for many years, when a purveyor of the same goods established a new, superior establishment in my town.

  • This band is so loaded with talent it's hard to know where to start.

  • @jamieson55 yes...this is a jewel.......

  • It's only in recent years I realise how much Paul Carrick was an influence on my music preferences during late 70's and early 80's. Tempted will always be a standard. Thanks Paul!

  • I think the blonde is the same blonde from the Cool For Cats video. I like her in that one more so than here. you should take a look. I'm taking position in the bushes and the grass...

  • Comment removed

  • a song from my youth! oh lord, to go back to those days!

  • Thumbs up for Fernando Martinez and Vice City.

  • @blondman69xxx & Jumping the Vehicles

  • Grand Theft Auto Vice City right there!!!

  • @Undertaker8765 I love that included that song on the game soundtrack. It's a great song to listen to when cruising down the street, robbing people. lol

  • Brilliant song

  • i was thinking the same thing about paul carrack he has a very soothing voice

  • His voice...

  • Though it's a great song the musicians seem soooooo bored, Pitty.

  • Sorry but GTA Vice City

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY GLENN TILBROOK

  • Ok, who did those girls sleep with to end up in this video? Sometimes they're standing, sometimes they're sitting, but all the times, they are just annoying!

  • @chicagoblt LOL! I wonder that too!

  • @chicagoblt

that is what real girls look like. In the early 80's..we had not figured out fake girls.

  • 80 forever

  • Paul Carrack, and Squeeze, are two acts who never received the recognition that they deserve. Brilliant writing, brilliant voices. And ChumpyG, I hear ya about Stevie, a legend. x

  • I think we may have enough people to start a website or a movement!

"What the hell is up with the women in the Squeeze Video.com"

  • @robswift3 lmfao

  • @njbrucetx - I only used to like the one on the right because she doesnt look like a seacow, she isnt wearing a bra, and you can see her skivvies when she is sitting. as a 10 year old back when this came out, THAT was huge!!!! LOL. But Im thinkin that in all of England, THIS was the best they could find?!?!?! LOVE the song though.

  • Still amazed. Watched this several times because I love the song. I don't think I have ever seen a time on any video where (not one, not two, but...) three ladies had no sense of rhythm in their dance. It is actually distracting. I offer this as an apology to any of the women who ever danced with me.

  • @njbrucetx ..beer has been making people like this think they can dance for hundreds of years

  • When I first heard this, I thought they were black guys, but it didn't matter. Theres alot of soul (to me) in this song!

  • What's the purpose of those three girls? I'm also wondering why the one looks like a porn star while the other two look like soccer moms. lol. Oh well, great song anyway.

  • @chalklava,

LOL! yeah I've always kind of wondered what the hell those 3 women were doing on the stage. I think when I was kid I just assumed they were back-up singers. Like you said the one on the right really does look like a porn star while the other 2 look like they're waiting to pick up there kids from soccer practice.

  • @JohnQ1127 So, I'm not alone with this curiousity, lol. Just saw this vid for the first time the other night and that immediately popped into my head. haha.

  • @chalklava

I remember watching this back in the early days of MTV (1981) when I was about 14 years old. I remember the braless woman being the topic of conversion with a lot of my classmates.

I didn't know much about Squeeze and I just assumed these were back-up singers. It wasn't until years later that I realized Squeeze never had back-up singers.

If you look at them they're not even in sync with each other, LOL!

  • Great song! It relates a lot to my life. All the guys who got tempted. And all the guys that tempted me. And still do. No need to take anyone serious when it just causes heartache. Now if I could just stop taking anyone serious any more maybe I'd be ok. For now tho I let myself be hurt by hearing/reading the things a so called special man says about other women and not me. And he seems to think all women are b*tches....with his attitude he gives us reason to be just that and find another.

  • I didn't know what he meant by "a flannel for my face", and for years I thought he was off to rob a bank on his way out of town.

  • i was in changmai,thailand..in a bar gave me free beer just because of this song ..i like too spin that shit!!!

  • thumbs up if u came her because of g.t.a. vice city ha ha

  • One of my all time favorite songs as I am sure for a lot of you. However, it may be just the filming,,,do the dancing girls have no sense of rhythm or beat or were they just stoned and out of it?

  • it always makes me laugh when people on youtube mention that they have heard songs like these on those gta games

  • The gal on the left was always a fav! Wot a bird!

    D~

  • I loveeeeee this song thanks to hours of being a zombie on GRAND THEFT AUTO!

  • KROQ Classic!

  • Paul Carrack has by far the best voice in the band.

  • What a great groove over that bass line , anyone who thinks this sucks is an idiot

  • Joe Cocker's version is really great

  • Always wonder what part of the song its Elvis Costello singing, I tend to think its the " The People keep on crying" part, kinda has an irish accent to it

  • @Rbastid You're close. It's actually the very next line after that one in the second verse that he sings (the one in falsetto).

  • Classic song, but the video's kind of boring...

  • I'm a bitter, jaded old bastard who doesn't like any music. This is one of those songs that is just an excellent example of brilliant songwriting. Only Stevie Wonder is able to pull off what they pull off in this song. Oddly structured chords and arrangement, yet it sounds like a simple little 3 chord pop song.

  • @ChumpyG

Agreed, it's a much more complicated song musically then it appears to be. Like you said, "it sounds like a simple 3 chord pop song" but there are a bunch of odd/difficult chord changes and the overall chord structure is strange. The only way I could play this song was to transpose it in the key of A with the capo on the second fret.

  • @ChumpyG Every song written by Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford was an excellent example of brilliant songwriting.

  • @ChumpyG I think i love you grumpy old man. Unfortunatly I love much music, Too bad you are so jaded, because I think we could talk about music.

  • @ChumpyG You are sooo right....tricky little progression.....Little Feat can be the same way.....I am particular, what I listen to...so are you...we can't help it...taste.....hahaha best wishes....Polly

  • at 1:30 i seriously thought that dude was black , never saw the vid before now hahah

  • Who's the lead singer, this guy on the keyboards? Is that Paul?

  • @gaiduoklis Yes that's Paul Carrack.

  • See Squeeze with Turin Brakes on Fri 29th July @ the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich!!! greenwichsummersessions.co.uk

  • Ya know I always wondered what happened to the blond on the end dancing?

I fell in love with her when this video first came out on MTV.

Ended up marring a tall slender blond, hmmmm.

    SIRR1

  • I think Paul Carrack is one of the most underrated musicians there were in the last 25 years of the 20th century. What a multitalented man! In many bands but also solo. Solo he was more at funk, but he could play and sing every kind of music!

Great song! Unfortunally I do kot know more about Squeeze and the other members of the band. Maybe time to listen a bit more and discover some songs! Thank you for sharing the fantastic video and the splendid sound (not so evident in 1981, I guess) !! Ludo

  • @ludo281160 Paul Carrack definitely underrated as a vocalist, fans of Squeeze by all means should listen to his solo work. What a fine upload!

  • @ludo281160 Excuse me? Paul Carrack most certainly is not "one of the most underrated musicians". Paul's quite well known and established himself quite well, not only with Squeeze, but with appearances with the likes of Mike Rutherford, and the list goes on.

If ya like Paul, try checking out some songs like "The Liviing Years", and "Silent Running". :-)

  • Gta Vice City /o/

    The Best

  • I always liked this song for its attitude, but it must cost all of 100 bucks to make this video, including the wardrobe for the not-so-Solid Gold Dancers (LOL)!

  • @ohearn22 They spent about $100 to make a video that is musically priceless, as opposed to the videos today that sink thousands of dollars into something that is musically worthless. This is what I call a good return on the investment. And you're right, this has got a great presence in its attitude.

  • I know Chris Difford, Glenn Tilbrook, and Paul Carrack. However, I have no clue who the 4th singer is, the one that is closest to the us when they show a wide shot. Just wondering if anyone could tell me who that is.

  • The bass player for Squeeze' East Side Story album was John Bentley....but Elvis Costello produced the album and contributed backing vocals - likely his voice falsetto.

  • @kittenhair68 Thanks for the quick response. I remember reading that Elvis Costello produce the album and did some backing vocals. However, I knew that the guy in the video was not Elivs because Elivs has a distinctive look and that guy looked nothing like him.

  • peopel are fags saying old music is best, music is good all round, theres always shit music in the charts, if you really liek music you dig down deep and find the good stuff, now shut the fuck up

  • What's this 'video games'?

  • indeed there is major contrast from Jools Holland with Paul Carrack.

  • Paul Carrack!

  • Ah the 80's.

    A mescaline driven rollercoaster.

  • I remember watching this on MTV when they still played music and had live VeeJays. I remember thinking that the backup dancer on the left was going to throw out he hip...

  • This was in a video game? Guess I was just listening to the music...

  • This was in a video game? Guess I just like music for music's sake...

  • Why does this version seem slower?

  • i dont think its the fact its in a game they hate, i think its that they have no lives and have nothing better to hold onto other than the fact their old

  • This video would be vastly improved if there were some way to blackout or erase the creepy women dancing side by side on the edge of the stage for no apparent reason. Ugh.

  • its such a chill laid back song. I love it.

  • Squeeze is the absolute shit.

  • Why are people so bitchy about 'seeing it first'. Do you really think anyone would care? I saw the inside of my mum's vagina first, don't hear me going on about that.

  • @lhoward92 you werent the first....

  • @lhoward92 Possibly the best comment ever. :)

  • See Squeeze @ Greenwich Summer Sessions 2011 on July 29th in the grounds of the Old Royal Naval College. Tickets from greenwichsummersessions.co.uk...local boys back in town going to be AMAZING!!!

  • 8 people are tempted by the fruit of children

  • No, only saw Paul Carrack a couple of times with Nick Lowe, at City Gardens and the late lamented big living room that was the Chestnut Caberet. Great live. One of rock's most notable journeymen.

Look out for Squeeze at Bryant Park on "Live from the Artist's Den" on PBS.

  • squeeze is an awesome group! i love this song!

and also 8 people are not tempted by the fruit of another :(

  • thumbs up if you saw the squeeze when this charted on billboard...seriously!

  • CHRIS DIFFORD at CITYSHOWCASE FESTIVAL 2011!

  • I never knew Squeeze was responsible for this song.

  • Great Song!! Good Singer Paul Carrack!!

  • tempted by the fruit of another? Stupid jerks. This song was prolly one of the worse songs ever, right up there with The Lambada the Forbidden Dance.

  • @HairyTarantula1 You are one stupid ass mother fucker!

  • Great Song. Sucks to get old and hear GaGa and Beibler and not Squeeze, Faces, Mott The Hopple

  • i never heard this on the radio and dont remember it from GTA. just heard it for the first time now. is it my fault when i was born? i like how it matters to people who heard a song first or when. WOOHOO FOR YOU!

  • I hated this song back them, I still hate it now.

  • @HairyTarantula1 lady gaga for you ,you dick

  • @br1ght5ide I'll take gaga over these tools any day or night. Oh my god these dudes are worse than the grateful dead.

  • @HairyTarantula1

loosers like you are killing the real music mate

you are NOT good enough for music if you think that lady-fockin-gaga is any artist....pathetic

  • @br1ght5ide Well, no i don't think gaga is all that, but given a choice, I'll take Gaga 1,000x over these jokers.

  • @HairyTarantula1 and that comment is just cos you suck man

  • @br1ght5ide I suck? Forget about it. No one sucks more than these dummies.

  • I'm still waiting to view this in 'HD'

  • one of the best live shows ever squeeze and cheap trick live at meadowbrook new hampshire 2010..

  • I'm wondering what the dancing ladies behind Paul Carrack look like now? Gotta be the best looking grandmothers in the UK!

  • Them white folks got soul !

  • Crap song. Real crap.

  • @jlo90009 then why the hell do you watch that video you looser?

  • Why so much hate on GTA? You should all be thankful that our younger generation got to hear these great hits instead of Lil Wayne, who by the way is a shitter singer.

  • @ZeroInfinity0000 I´m with you!

  • @ZeroInfinity0000 Thanks for replicating my comment, right down to the opening sentence. Very necessary, I'm sure.

  • paul carrack is a wednesday boy;paul carrack is a wednesday boy; paul carrack is a wednesday boy.and we all hate the pigs!

  • I'm kinda sad that this is the song that Squeeze is known for. I mean, their other stuff sounds nothing like this.

  • This song should have been a number one in the UK.

I can't believe some of the comments that are completely irrelevant here!

The channel user should erase the lot of them.

  • Why is there so much hate for Grand Theft Auto? Shouldn't we all be thanking Rockstar for introducing this pathetic generation to the charms of the '80s? I, for one, am grateful to have been plucked from the clutches of our modern "hits" and given the opportunity to appreciate gems like this(not to mention the plethora of fantastic '20s-'30s music other video games are recirculating). Now let's hear it everyone, thanks for educating young people about great music, video game industry!

  • @maddieburgers There's no hate for GTA at all. Shit, I'm happy that today's youth gets to experience the GREAT songs from the 1980's, and not today's watered down, shallow, meaningless, garbage they call music today.

It's just on EVERY video from a song in GTA there's 300 comments mentioning it. I guess all I'm saying is that this music existed long before GTA, Playstation, Xbox, and Nintendo. I appreciate it for what it was, what it stood for, and what it will always mean to me

  • @maddieburgers You are praising the video game industry for what? Educating who? Not sure what progressive or liberal party you work for, but you are one stupid ass mother fucker.

  • @Rwings73

How is praising the video game industry with using old music "liberal" or "progressive"? Using 1980s music isn't liberal or conservative, it's apolitical. No offense, but unless you're trolling, you sound like the one being ideological with politics.

  • @Rwings73 Shut your fuked mouth up!

  • @vjjunk Get an education. Or move somewhere where you could actually get one.

  • @vjjunk And I will not waste my time arguing with a person like you. Goodbye!
