just think of the beetle - place the engine behind the rear axle line but build one of the most reliable consistant winning race cars ever - take everything you learned racing on the streets and you have an efficient, powerfull, reliable sports car - inprove it every year and you have very happy owners - I had a 911 with 190,000 + miles never did anything to the engine - upkeep was reasonable, and I am far from rich - can't say that about Ferrari, Lambo - no need for drastic change
