  • Great Rock.Forever Rock...!!!...

  • Just amazing... Wishbone ash certainly one of the greats in my book.

  • Tight and beautiful....goosebumps. What a great performance!

  • Bo to jest muzyka a nie gówno z radia.

  • Oh! This is stunning, just stunning.

  • @Grzybu12 mózgojebna czyli wspaniała.

  • I love this song! not record. Just live arrangement so good!

  • this is just perfect. a great little story that ROCKS. creativity and musicianship...a rock-n-roll gem.

  • 6 people don't deserve the ears God gave them.

  • it seems that all my problems have just disappeared for 8 minutes and 45 seconds

  • love it

  • rocks!

  • Just saw them in Wimborne Dorset on Friday night - Amazing! Brilliant !!!

  • Just saw the band in Wimborne Dorset on Friday, BRILLIANT !!!!

  • Martin Turner's vocals on this are among the best, if not the best, in Rock ever. So underrated. Next up is Lorelei and All of my Dreams(You rescue me). 16 yo stepson took one listen and made copies of all my Ash. Now, they are his favorite band. How phuqin' cool is that?

  • Best band, evah!

  • OMG what a music.

i am lucky it was my age of music

Where are you Bieber's fan's and other shit -- listen and learn

  • @Baud0 Listen to real Music Oasis. Listen and learn

  • Reminiscent of Andy Latimer -Camel

  • @austinWXW i find them the most significant melodic guitar promoters in prog rock world with aforementioned camel. and that's certainly cause the two bands were mostly focused on guitar work

  • Ouaih! que de bons souvenirs de ses solos magiques !

  • Outstanding song.

  • saw them back in 70's and they have remained my all time favorites just AWESOME. With the advent of Pandora they are reborn to everyone anywhere

just add the station. they make the guitars talk. words cant describe how good they were and are. Watch /listen ...the king will come, Pheonix (their anthem) , Warrior and all and every

  • this is awesome bro-THANKS

  • hurray for Irish bands!

  • An amazing song.

  • doesnt get better than this

  • 0:30

  • Wishbone Ash IS NOT a "Christian" band!!!! LMAO!!! But....Wishbone Ash IS AWESOME and WAY underrated!!! Iron Maiden and Thin Lizzy need to thank them til the the day they die!!!

  • To jest wiecznie żywe!

  • Too bad everyone ignored this band back in the day because they got labeled as a Christian band...even while being recognized as a guitar band... the beginning of the labeling of music into narrow niches...

  • @awickedtribe

I've been an Ashhead since '74. Never heard that. Huh...

  • Andy is just the epitome of cool in this video

  • I love this band and especially this tune. The albums "There's the rub" and "New England" are fantastic recordings. There is just something about the incredibly complementary sound between Andy Powell and Laurie Wisefield during this span of time. Persephone is such a beautiful and soulful song with exquisite solos and this live version just shines. Thank you stevedr for posting this video.

  • This is brilliant! I saw Ash in about 1974 and again in 1976 (London Hammersmith Theatre). This is the best track they ever made in my opinion.

  • i love it, that's all.

    no comment, only listening

it's a MUSIC , written by capital letters!

  • FAB! Sway man SWAY :-)

  • 6 people must love music that sucks!!

  • i kto tak dzisiaj zagra/

  • to jest moja dusza, moje serce i moje najpiękniejsze wspomnienia związane z klasyką rocka

  • @angee577 masz w ulubionych moje ukochane kawałki, wyjdź za mnie : D

  • Great music !! Most of today's music sucks!!

  • argus is one of the great works of rock that will never fade from the minds of all who have even a note of appre. for the talent and sincerity of such a devoted group of musicians. keep music in your head and life will be not so bad .

  • Andy Powell is the tone master. This group shows brit music doesnt have to suck. If they had decent keyboard they'd be almost the Brothers. Allmans that is.

  • ....still spellbound...after 30 years!

  • @AntyAnty1000

To pisz po Polsku, drogi człowieku. Ojczystej mowy się wstydzisz?

Saludos a los fans de Nicaragua!

  • Saw them on the same german tour a few days before in hannover. a great hall full packed with a couple of tousand people. without internet the hall was sold out into 24 hours. that were the great days of rock music. flyin´high wishbone ash. since then i have seen them live over 100 times. it´s the love of my youth and life - hope my wife did ´nt read this.

  • I saw the Rub tour, wow classics plus this fabulous new stuff.... LOVED then and NOW

  • @kjdfish thanks for the comments.

    Steve

    themore09

  • I hear this band for the first time right now, and I am having that same feeling you would have when you are at the beginning stage of a falling-in-love session.

  • Lifelong fan, back in the 6th form there was a poster on the wall captioned "Wishbone Ash's Ted Turner"; that was 1972!

I have the same birthday as Turner. Saw them twice, in the 1990s, consecutive years at Catford.

Amazing sound - and deserving of far more commercial success than they've had.

  • thanks for posting this ...sheer BLISS....my teenage years in a nutshell.Seen ash loads of times sill and allways will be the BEST

  • 真音樂

    real music

  • have to agree with themore09 - saw them a few times back in the day (hair, teeth and hope!!) & they were always a GREAT live band! heard some more recent live versions (thank you YouTube!) and they are STILL very good indeed (compare the rubbish around these days!) oh to be young again!

  • This song/video ROCKS!!!!!

  • I always viewed this band as the English version of the Allman Brothers, with the dual guitar leads, and this is such an incredibly beautiful song. Martin Turner has just got to be one of the best bass-players ever.

  • I also have this video. This is the best on it in my view, stunning guitaring.

  • Saw the same concert in Bremen two days later. the Best concert EVER

  • @mikron1216 such a great live band.i have seen 3 different versions of the band.all great....i just saw them in march...they kicked ass.

  • Re my earlier comment. It's also a pretty good song all round. LOVE the way the rhythm section 'lock-in' together for the solos, cycling the same chord sequence as a solid foundation for whoever's out front. Brilliant, definitely a band firing on all cylinders! Saw Wishbone 'back-in-the-day' twice (72 ish) and about two years ago with the current Andy Powell led outfit. They can still do it!

  • I've been into rock music for 41 years now, and I've seen (Beck, Santana, Page, Bonamassa, Fripp, Green, Moore etc) and heard (Clapton, Hendrix etc) all the greats. But if anyone can tell me of a better solo than Andy's here from 7 minutes onwards then please let me know! His tone, feel, power/restraint is absolutely mindblowing!! Laurie's solo ain't bad either!

  • @themore09 Don't think I could've said it any better my friend. I have this video saved and refer back to it often.

I saw them in St. Louis last year, they played this.....I pert near soiled myself !!! It brought tears of joy to my eyes.

Had they followed that up with Like a Child, I may have been openly weeping.

  • @themore09 , Beatiful solo, I agree. If you're interested in that kind of soloing, have a look at the Aussie guitar maestro, Ian Moss, either in his early days with the iconic Aussie band, Cold Chisel or later after he went solo. Keep looking until you find the ones you like, and don't base your judgement on the first two or three hits. Chisel are the most passionately musical band I've ever heard, and I've heard a lot of bands over nearly forty years of listening!

  • @Gairlochan thanks - enjoyin' working my way through the Ian Moss Youtube vids!

  • @themore09 saw Beck twice, Robin Trower three times, Humble Pie with frampton, Frampton with camel, Leslie west, Mountain, Floyd - Dark Side, Kansas Masque Tour and Janis two months before she left us... story for another time.......

Will Always be an ASH man...

  • @themore09 WOW what a bold statement- I absolutely agree about Andy's solo here, but you have mentioned the greatest lead guitarists in the world and I don't know if he is really in their class- For me today the hottest guitarist is Joe Bonamassa- thanks for your posting mate, great to have an appreciator

  • @themore09

I was fortunate enough to see Wishbone Ash 3 times. They were actually the first concert I ever saw, I was in Indianapolis in a skating rink. The warm up was Vinegar Joe. One didn't need to bring any treats. The smoke in the air took us all there. Wow what a show. Probably about 1973 give or take. The subsequent shows where phenomenal as well.

  • okey. nic więcej.cisza proszę słuchac

  • I bet the 6 dislikes are refering the crackling of Turner's voice......

  • There are at least 6 idoits.......6 dislikes, in the world

  • I've seen this vedio more than 100 times

Hope they will reunion and begin world tour or something like that

  • @wildwolftw Hi! Have seen this with my Californian girlfriend some 6 months ago in London, where I live. You would not beliefe...it's just Andy in the band now. fuck ME! It was as great as this version, I'm sure!

    God Bless!

  • I am still simply astounded that I never heard of this band until 2009. They have some fantastic songs.

  • Great to see them live. Real musicianship here. Great song all the way 'round. Brings back memories of summer drives and good times. Saw them late seventies, I think, great show.

  • Great to see them live. Real musicianship here. Great song all the way 'round. Brings back memories of summer drives and good times.

  • I think Wishbone Ash was always a bit underrated after "Argus". They made great songs, great albums and this is one proof of their talent. Still prefer the studio version though.

  • one of the greatest rock bands ever. Seen them a few time's in the good old days of the seventie's. Got this album for xmas when i was 15 now 49, miss them days when rock music was rocking

  • I'd give my right arm to be able to play like these guys.

  • hello all brilliant track i bought theres the rub album when i was 19 years old birthday tomorrow 54 years on and this is still brilliant

ROCK MILESTONES ~ WISHBONE ASH ~ ARGUS ~ DVD

    £3.99

sounds like it should re-awaken my sense of `verve` for this album

  • @lammterra look for the one live sirus/xm 40th aniversary issue- the new band does argus...talk about a new flair- this would do it for sure.....

  • Best Laurie Wisefield solo I've heard. Powell always sounds great. Upton/Turner also badass.

  • fucking amazing version i love it! makes me wanna go out and buy myself a Gibson flying V!!!

  • I have never even heard of this band until today. Fuck yeah . They are amazing. Thank you to my English friends for introducting to some amazing tunage...♥

  • Real Guitars Have Wings

  • This was the best line up, in this WA's nutcases' opinion. Andy Powell, Laurie Wisefield (a goddamn genius of a guitar player) Martin Turner and Steve Upton. Nobody could touch them for sheet musician ship.

  • I squandered the money when I sold the rights to this tune.

  • @AndreasVar ...abso..fucking..lutely

  • They are great ,when i had charge of the cassette machine [i fought them all off] in The Squire shop Chelsea in the mid 70,s they were played constantly together with Neil Young and Crazy Horse and Bowie

    regards

    jimmy

  • Magnificent.

    Hermoso

    Wunderbar

Slowly but surely this song and video have become my favorite.

  • wishbone ash where my first love...perfection personified.

  • @horlicks54, you are so right. Heard them live in Germany back in 1976. Amazing. Also amazing what quality music we had back then on German TV (with only three channels avalible).

  • The most amazing LOVE song, love the feeling of that guitar, this is REAL MUSIC, REAL MUSICIANS, REAL VOICES, no the crap "wanna beeesss" play today, PURE COMPUTER TRASH--no talent.--THNX for this awesome vid.

    Sara♥

  • @sarasota75 pure feeling and love. great comment

    this is real music.

  • @sarasota75 I couldn't agree more with every line that you've typed! :-)

  • @sarasota75 check out "Persephone - San Fransisco 2.4.76 - Wishbone Ash" here on YouTube. Great version filmed at Winterland! Andy's solo will make you socks roll up & down!

  • fuckin amazing

  • Of the older clips with Martin Turner singing, this is the best! This song is so beautiful...

  • Going to see these guys tonight here in San Diego (7/27/10). Last time I saw them would have been around the time this clip was filmed: summer of 1976 in Hastings, Nebraska (sponsored by Hastings College). They were on tour with Status Quo...a great double-bill! Of all their albums, NEW ENGLAND is the one that's knocked me out the most, with ARGUS and THERE'S THE RUB running close seconds. So many great memories from this band!

  • I just learned about these guys today, the only thing I regret is not learning about them sooner

  • @sraluvssnakes Have you learned already about the TECHNO albums they recorded?

  • @maikahil

NO I will have to look those up!! Thanks man :)

  • Power of youth.

  • Ooooh i like this song...and video. This group was very epic and they still are.....i just wished i was abeled to see this performace live (i was to small)

  • I always considered this the best of all the Wisbone Ash bands. 10 of us went to see them at the Tower Theater in Pa in 1975, shortly after There's The Rub was released. The show was so good that my wife and I and 2 of our friends went back for the 2nd show that evening. What a great night!

  • wow that was epic...pure greatness. He has such a beautiful sound combined with such mastery

  • bellissima!

  • Amazing.

  • this is a beutiful song with epic lyrics of lots of love and feelings

dedicated to a wonderful guy...whose name is Piotrek...ahhh!!! you!!!

    gracias..............Sara♥

  • Man, that guitar solo... It's just the best solo ever.

  • What a fantastic band they was !

  • @bassfeile THEY STILL ARE!! 40 YEARS STRONG, STILL LED BY ANDY POWELL !! NEW DVDS, CD, LARGE TOURS...

  • Best Song from WA and imo one of the best Prog. Rock songs ever!!!

  • I used to listen to the WBA many many years and tears ago. Thanx for posting it.

  • I know very little about Wishbone Ash. I saw them open for BTO in San Diego in 1976. They opened for BTO again at the Del Mar fair almost twenty years later.

  • Heard these on radio yesterday and thought what a great sound, and now im hooked !

  • check out the version of this song on "Live Dates 2", it's insane.

  • @afuadonki true wee folow andys wishbone ash.Martin Turners voice is aufull now!

  • @TheMentulls MAN, YOU ARE RIGHT....TURNER HAS LOST IT!!

  • It's all about the melody and thse guys had it in spades.

  • Brilliant Wishbone Ash are amazing!.One of the greatest bands ever.Andy's guitar is amazing on this track as is laurie's.Martin's vocals are great steve's drumming is great too

  • Great tune. Great band. I had my little First Act "kids" guitar with me when "Wishbone Ash" played here 2 weeks ago. After the show, I played "Emperor Waltz" (Strauss) on guitar while Andy signed autographs. "No one's every done that for me before" Andy says. He took a picture of me (his camera) and signed my guitar--I'm honored.

I noticed on my site, my song "Largo" has "Persephone" as a "related video"-- Watch "Emperor's Waltz" (My site)--that's the one I played for Andy.

    --Van

  • wonderful stuff

  • I love Laurie and Andy on this video

  • saw them way back when, still hold up today

  • he really knows how to play the V, great sound

  • Sweeny, I'll 2nd that!!!

  • Martin Turner can sing, and play bass guitar as well as anyone. What a great band. Was fortunate enough to see them several times.

  • My father was on Wishbone Ash concert in 1975, and now, after 35 years, it's my chance of being on concert seeing them, 1 March in one week...Yay!!!!!!!!!!! :D

  • Epic, building a cathedral of sound and then bring it crashing down at the end....

  • Merci 4 Eternal Classic.

  • trop bon , on dirait du "flamants roses" !

  • Thanks a lot, man.

  • great song!

im gonna support them in flensburg in germany! it will be a great night...

  • Gitarowe niebo
