  • bill lawry is superb always

  • do I hear MSN in the background, I keep on hearing the chime.

  • Gavin Larson had the second best one day economy rate in the world at one stage behind Ambrose

  • I remember watching this game. it was the tour the rot was setting into NZ cricket. It went badly in this series but got even worse over the next two seasons. NZ could hardly buy a victory. They scraped trough to the final of their own centenary season tournament in 95. Then in 96 they hired Steve Rixon as coach and things started to improve.

  • @leeroy77 Geoff Howarth era didnt help , he spend most of the time drinking piss. Glenn Turner was hadly better. Between 93 and 95 NZ won 2 innings in something like 14 test matches incl the test match we 'lost' in SA when Blair Hartland dropped a significant catch

Steve Rixon was excellent , cant believe we let him escape back to NSW. NZ team is still shit since he left and 2010 was one of their poorest years of the decade

  • I wonder if Young or Latham had an opening partnership of more than 10 runs in their entire careers.

  • hahaha

  • @driffter76 nah, im a huge black caps fan and then 2 were the worst opening ODI partnership NZ had....Bring back Fleming and Vincent (both are still playing.....)

  • @driffter76 im a huge Black caps fan...since 1989...laham and young was the worst we Ever HAD.....BRING BACK fLEMING AND vINCENT

  • What are you talking about?! Gavin Larsen was the ultimate dibbly-dobbly specialist! Finished his career with a 3.76 economy rate.

  • lol..thats right..i remember one time back when i was a kid.. when he toured india somewhere around 94-95 and they just couldnt score anything off him...i remember wondering to myself if that was what they used to call the bodyline!..as he used to bowl dead straight...

  • Was Gavin Larsen the worst international specialist bowler ever?

  • i found this vid searching for Chris Pringle.. i thought he was a pretty good one-day bowler. Quite a few forgettable cricketers in that NZ team.. i would only rate Cairns/Harris/Pringle and maybe Morrison.

  • @ParisAvenue2005 Chris Pringle was a great one-day bowler. And I think it's bloody rotten what NZC did to him.

  • @stoprainingonme what did they do to him ?

  • @TheForge10 They just didn't like him - he smoked and drank a bit and used that as an excuse to get rid of him. This was after a disastrous tour of South Africa when Pringle was the only bowler who didn't embarrass himself. That was the your where Stephen Flemming, Matthew Hart and Dion Nasjh all got suspended and fined for smoking pot.

  • NZ got back on their feet with a ripper of a win over Australia at the SCG in game 6 (or thereabouts).

Classic NZ win, defending under lights. The Australians fell apart under the pressure.

However, Aussie was the superior team in this series.

  • i was wondering how the msn thing was going off!!

  • lol nice msn messenger sounds in the background :D

  • Rod Latham. Ye Gods!!!! They were desperate days indeed for NZ cricket...

    Bring back Steve Rixon.

  • This was the first ever series of cricket I watched along with Aus v NZ Test. So priveliged to watch so many great names. Boon, Border, McDermott etc

  • hows the investments going craig?? this kind of sums up the NZ team of this era..dysfunctional and lacking back bone. I think this was when Howarth was in charge and not long before the infamous dope smoking tour of SA. This may have been aussie tour when Martin Crowe bailed out with his troublesome knee and left Ruds in charge. Good move Martin. Nice memories thanks for the watch.

  • "dysfunctional and lacking back bone"

I think a rather naughty bunch of slugs had more backbone than this shower. A complete absence of cricketing talent didn't help either. Fuck me. Latham. Patel. 'Nice 20-odd' Rutherford. 'Moody' Greatbatch. 'What gunja?' Howarth. And I still love the game despite following this mob...

    Bring back Steve Rixon.

  • @timmytosser martin crowe in his last years was a pathetic sight , NZ hanging on to him desperetly way past when he should have been dropped beacause we had no one else , and we still dont 15 years down the track

  • whats worth watching this one? very very superior cricket.. but nothing really exciting..

  • I love when Bill Lawry said the youngsters Mcgrath and Warne impressed. And now they're retired!

  • Nice video, but hearing your MSN going off every 30 seconds = not the best.

  • go slater we love you in nz but we hate all other australians

  • no we dont bro

  • lol

  • mathew hayden was struggling back then but as ian chappel said once he got his haemoroid problem under control he really improved

  • any s.africa V NZ matches from this series please?

  • thanks a lot buddy for this cricket video
