  • Looks like a fun trip. My husband and I have a 25' O'Day with a fixed keel. Wish we could find that much wind. We're on the Nor California Delta.

  • Screw you tourists. ugh im all for sailing but us locals cant take it anymore with the overload of people

  • i'm thinking about getting an o'day and doing some coastal cruising what you would have done differently to avoid grounding her? i'm a lake sailor in a 20 ft sloop rigged seaward fox . how safe do you feel in open waters on her? is she solid ? how does she behave in heavier winds? in short, how seakindly an o'day to a single handed sailor, new to ocean sailing?

  • @gallavant40 - My O'Day 25 has a centerboard so it is not as stiff as a fin keel version... but it does have a dodger and a roller furling genoa. I find it comfortable sailing to windward with 1/2 a jib only in winds that are 20 gusting 25 kts. in 4' seas. The boat is well made. I could have avoided grounding if I'd paid less attention to the chart and more attention to my depth gauge and to what I was seeing in the water. Also better if sailing with main (or motoring) rather than jib only.
