@pinkpalmetto617 This was an old version of wordpress. But, the options tab is now called plugins. Your best bet is to use a plugin which will do it for you automatically. The one I use now it called Ultimate Google Analytics.
You need to set the file to writable. There is an access code you need to change using an FTP program (it's normally 4 digits). Use FIlezilla or similar to find the footer, and it will sdisplay the code. CLick on it and change it. Wish I could remember what the digits were, but I think 'zilla tells you these days)

my theme, Pilcrow, does not have an "editor" option under Appearances. Should I switch themes?

Is this using the paid version of Wordpress? The free version of Wordpress doesn't seem to have any of these options.

Great video! What happens if the footer file says "If this file were writable you could edit it" and there is no update button?
