  • A bit better than Holleys' version...this has more beat. but they are all good.

  • MY SINCERE !! THANKS.....

GO OUT TO THE EVERLY BROTHERS FRIENDS

WHO UPLOAD THESE EB-VIDEOS FOR US TO WATCH...IN RETURN ..

    PLEASE GIVE THEM - A " LIKE " - WHILE WATCHING. !!!!

" LETZ STAY DEVOTED " Erik, aka Ricky Teal, Floridadadaa

  • @tickyreal Totally agree, these people who watch these videoa and sgive a "Don't like" should be watching it in the first place if they don't like them.

  • @mollymitch1 ..\0/....

    LETZ STAY DEVOTED,

    ERIK T./ RICKY TEAL, FLORIDADADAA

  • which one's don and which one's phil?

  • Buddy did double tracking harmonies with himself. Sounded very good.

I was always a fan of Buddy and the Everlys, and bought their records in preference to the Beatles.

  • " its sounds like lennon and mccartney "...lol....other way round matey..:D:D

  • Don Everly had a great range. Buddy Holly could play the guitar better than the Everly Brothers, but even though he had a very good voice, could not sing like the Everly Brothers, especially in the high register.

  • Truly great talents of their day.

  • LUF IT

  • Real great 50,s style rock-a-billy. Where did all the drive-ins go? Still got my high school car, and a real good set of Fender Glasspak Mufflers. Goes along with this music like ice cream and chocolate syrup.

  • wow its sounds like lennon and mccartney

  • wow a great version never heard this before. they were amazing the everlys.

  • Good live version by Don & Phil. Try The Collins Kids for another great contemporary cover.

  • geant

  • love this version, especially between 0.36-0.40 seconds... sound unreal

dont make music like this anymore and im only 30 but love these guys and that era..

  • gosh this is amazing!! actually, the starting is so (!!!!!!) and the chorus

  • They sound perfect live!

  • Although tis is bad quality (the film) it's absolutely worth to have a look at.

    Buddy Holly lives !

  • This is a GREAT version of the Buddy Holly classic!!

  • I'm in luv...

  • they sound as good live as on recording

  • Nice harmonies, but I don't like some of the vocal phrasings they use, it kind of throws off the melody.

  • Want To Hear Some Never Before Heard Oldies Music Come To My Page

  • awesome

  • Ahh...so perfect. They even did it in Bb.

  • These guys were Just Cool.

  • for sure :)

  • Since the '60s multi-high-tec soundchecks, venues are just like studios, but what you got way back when Rock was Rock on TV or Town Hall was atmosphere and the raw artists, who could still cut in a tin shed with the door wide open. Different yep , as good yep, and sometimes better ! Studio, live, or dead - El, Buddy, Eddie, Evs, Jerry Lee, Chuck, Bo, Lil Richard, Fats, and all, will always Rock On and Live On

  • @DougPatton1 ABSOLUTELY!!!

  • Paul McCartney and John Lennon learned to sing harmony from listening to these guys. Listen to Don from 1:32 to 1:35. Incredible! The Everly Brothers have a rightful place among the great rockabilly artists from the 50's including Elvis, Eddie Cochran, Buddy Holly, and Jerry Lee Lewis.

  • @bluesmandoc so did simon and garfunkel and a ton of other bands. these guys are amazing! i wish my grandma was still alive, my dad says i have her musical preferences

  • @bluesmandoc You are absolutely right! John and Paul were much influenced by the Everly Brothers tight harmony. I've always been a fan of the Everly Brothers but the Beatles are the Beatles....and there you go.

  • @bluesmandoc and chuck

  • @bluesmandoc Amen Brother!

  • @bluesmandoc funny how you only mentioned the whites...

  • @Jontenn I don't think that's becuz of Racism. Chuck Berry and Little Richard mostly where great Black musicians... but he said Rockabilly artists. Black musicians from the 50's overall didn't play that much Rockabilly!?!

  • @Leroyfis So if Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Fats Domino didn't play rockabilly, what did they play? Honestly, the everly brothers played more of a soft pop thingy while Chuck and Richard played rock. (He mentions Jerry Lee Lewis, who's basicly a white Little richard tha set his pianos on fire)

  • @bluesmandoc Cant forget Ritchie

  • You're comparing a version that is done in a recording studio with God only knows how many takes in order to get it sounding just right to a version that is completely live. It would be more fair to compare an Everly Brother live to an Everly Brothers recorded and then a Buddy Holly live to a Buddy Holly recorded. There is no comparison which is why so many artists today (like Ashley Simpson) lip sinc. They KNOW they don't sound as good live!

  • yeah but most of us.. respect an artist that sings live even if they know their not the best.. that's one thing that sadly, most artists arnt willing to take the risk on, which is a shame, it's also the reason ill never go to a concert unless im 100% sure the artist will sing live.

  • Version shmersion. There's nothing like sibling harmony.

  • great

  • 'Great, Just Super !'

  • Sounds awesome...great cover of it. So different from Hollys version...both great in their own right. I love the music...wish there were greats like this around still.

  • Why with all you whippersnappers it has to be one or the other is better?? What about BOTH are good in their own way?

As you live longer, you'll discover 'covers' of songs done by other artists. If you let yourself it can be a source of great pleasure.

  • i agree with you tired of people saying this version of this song is better blah blah

  • I like it how Everly Brothers make it their own on this but i do admit that i like Buddy Holly's better.

  • you obviously have horrible taste...

  • i agree nothing compares to buddy holly's original

  • Wow! I love how Don belts it out just before the chorus. These guys had so much soul.

  • im glad my parents taught me respect for the good old music like these guys, they're awesome ^^

  • Great Job!!!!!!

  • I agree, with the "no compairison"....this was just a compliment..to Buddy Holly, a great singer/songwritter in his own right...a lot of ppl...re-recorded some songs...and we just forgot who "originated" them..lol.

  • Gorgeous harmoney.

  • yes, the harmony...awesome.....what a gift.

  • well done

  • BRILLLLLLLLLL !!!!!

  • great! all these old songs....little bits play in my head from time to time and I wondered whee do they all come from...it's my dad. I could swear his spirit is hangin round me...they were my dad's favourites and i used to listen to them on the old radiogram when i was a little girl! Magic!

  • great song

  • i like buddy holly's version better

  • Yeah, but Buddy died in 1959 and the Everly's are still alive.

  • So?

  • Nothing compares to Buddy's original.

  • but u gotta admit it the everly brothers cover puts up a good fight

  • The Everlys also offered Buddy Holly the song, "Raining In My Heart" and Phil Everly was a pallbearer at Buddy's funeral.

  • Buddy Holly's version is so much better. come on its buddy's song to and buddy was the best of them all. I must admit though that this is also a good version but nobody can beat Buddy Holly.

  • Hi Buddyfan57. I think this version is really-well-yummy-speaking as a girl. I absolutely love Buddy too but don't feel that way about his That'll Be. I think he was absolutely the coolest, best rocker ever and often wonder what might've been. But-this song by Phil & Don makes me-well-uh-you know-feel yummy!!! May Don & Phil and Buddy's music rock on!!! :)

  • hey don't take offense.Buddy was in fact very much in love with them, musically speaking, and even used Phil as backup on some of his records.

  • yes i actulaly found that out a while ago. i didnt know they were such good friends but i like the Everly Brothers alot i was just stating that i like Buddy Holly's version better.

  • Hi buddyfan57! I have been sick and not utubing for a month or so. Hope you've had some fun this summer! It's almost time to get your stuff for school---EEEEK! Hope you are able to get some new clothes-that's always fun, but if not, don't worry. As I told my d.-when you're in middle & high school you think it's SO important, but as soon as you're out you've survived it and you move on. Listen to the Everlys if things go bad!

  • Hi Marian. I have been in outer space for the past month. Glad you & buddyfan are still rockin' to the oldies. buddyfan is really a cool kid! I tell her "Stuff From Mom " things and she'c cool with that. Gonna listen to this song about 50 times...Bye!

  • Fantastic. I love the Everlys and Buddy- all thanks to my dads influence on me, but I am thankful for it! Don's performance here is superb, I love his voice on the 50's/early 60's records.

  • So happy to see this back!!!

  • This video is incredible!! Thank you so much for posting it!!!

Better than Buddy Holly --- well, I'm not sure about that, but it is definitely different and equally as incredible!

  • A rare treat .... WOW !!!

  • This video is from an episode of Shindig! from 1965, so the video fact is 5 years off.

  • Don't take this off---EVER!!!! It's just absolutely fabulous and has made lots of us oldies fall in love again!! thank you Thank You THANK YOU!!! Better than Buddy!!! Pleeeeezzzzeee leave it on youtube!!! I actually call people long distance and make them listen to it! They all have loved it too. A thousand times better than the 1965 recording. A thousand thanks!!!
