  • I am Tibetan Buddhist and I don't know who this Rinpoche is and what lineage he belongs. He definitely seemed highly educated and also has great message to convey to his western followers who might be his only students. Only thing that I have problem is the way the Rinpoche made fun of Tibetan's faith. I agree that Many Tibetans pray and worship blindly to their Lama (even fake lamas) but there should be a better way to describe it rather than making fun of it. I am sorry If I offended anyone!

  • "It's the Boogey Man!" xDD

  • Incense - holy our vows/commitments

Flowers - perceive the Dharma teachings and be transform it.

    Khata - prayers and well-wishes.

  • Hehehehe! However on special occasions, we need to make it very grand to invite the Lama to the center to make it auspicious for people to receive the Dharma. The grander the Lama is received the more auspicious it is for people to receive the Dharma

  • rofl

    thanks for the laughs

  • This is very funny video. I didn't know welcome rinpoche with incense also help us to purify my karma. Wow, need to get incense from KH outlet, when Rinpoche come, i must bring the incense out. :-)

  • michaelbuble100:LOL, I have seen how some people offer incense to the Buddhas. They rotate the incense like the propellers of a helicopter and they come so close it could almost burn the statue! Sorry, it was my evil eye observing all this.

  • I saw the comments of the guy before it was taken off. It's sad that there are people like that who put down Buddhism. Although it may not be our fault that he has wrong views but this should make us harden our resolve to show a better example so there is no room for criticism.

  • Killing in the name of god so one can enter heaven Is killing = spiritual? Is putting down other religions to make one's own religion makes one a spiritual person? Is worshipping God means being mean to others?

  • That's funny. The more I read about other religions that bomb others in the name of god even more absurd!!

  • alfunlani5: Your comment is unjustifiable as you do not know what the path of a mendicant means spiritually. Instead of jumping to conclusions, you should find out more to enrich what you already know.

  • alfunlani5: Please comment further. That is an unfair statement when you don't explain yourself. As a Buddhists, Buddhism makes the most sense because it transforms our lives and make us much happier.

  • I like Rinpoche saying this. 4:30 I am Tsem Rinpoche.... and he cough to end the statement. :-)

  • This is amongst my most favorite teaching from Rinpoche!!! Its so funny! Its funny but it applies to me a lot with my lack of awareness. A lot of us including me have very little awareness of people around and we are like that with Rinpoche, imagine how we are with other people? Food for thought...Anyways despite the seriousness, it is a good laugh.

  • Which is submitting ourselves to our outer Guru to generate the qualities and nurture our inner Guru like what BetteCC have said we should always OPEN OUR DOORS TO OUR GURU. Nice one!

  • Apart of all those "too much" acting of welcoming Guru, one thing is important that KEEP THE DOOR OPEN..... as its same to open our heart to let Guru in.......nice! Hope we wud keep remind this to each time to time

  • 2:57 where Rinpoche starts to talk about khatas. It really shows you what we are like...one day we treat Rinpoche special, the next day we don't. We leave the door locked when we know he's coming. We shove sticks of incense in his face when he arrives. We aren't prepared with our khatas . We change back and forth about how we treat him. How shameful :(

  • This video explaining how we welcome a lama to a center and teach, very informative and also hilarious........can't stop repeating myself to watch it........Haha....Kechara House Rocks.....

  • Superb video. Very clear. Thank you.

  • Thank you Rinpoche for explaining the manner in which a lama is welcomed to the center.

    This video is most beneficial.

  • Very very funny video by Rinpoche , and that he mixes humour with learning what skill.

  • Rinpoche is a brillirant actor too! Absolutely!

  • I did not know about Lama Tsongkhapa until recently. Not being a buddhist, I did not quite understand who he was and what sense to make of his statues and the prostrations to them. I have learned a few things since and this talk is adding to my understanding of the dynamic invloved with the statues. It is clear to me now that Lama Tsongkhapa is an immense inspiration!

  • I'm so happy to Rinpoche has been able to teach you, and his words have stuck. Really rejoice :) learn more, add more to your knowledge! There is always more to learn from tsemtulkuDOTcom! It's not just for Buddhists - Rinpoche's teachings can be applied to daily life for the non-Buddhist, to bring more harmony to your life and relationships.

Anyways, I do think Lama Tsongkhapa is absolutely gorgeous. His face is so gentle and kind, and radiant!

  • What a clear explanation of how to invite a lama. We should remember this always, perhaps one day we will have the merits to invite Rinpoche to the UK...

  • This is such an incredibly useful video for ALL BUDDHISTS out there who wish to welcome a Guru or high Lama into their center. Learn about the meaning behind all that Tibetan pomp & circumstance. And behind all the jokes is the underlying message of respect for the Guru out of devotion.

  • Don't you just love this Guy???

    I DO!!!

  • haha this is the reason why we should know the reason behind each and every object involved in greeting the Lama because once you do you will not do the opposite of the whole purpose of making offerings to the Lama. tsemtulku(dot)com

  • Hahaha....the whole point of inviting a Guru with all the khatas, flowers, parasol and incense is all to increase awareness of who your Guru is and also to train your mind to be able to focus for the sake of another person. therefore, each of the items has to be carried within a respectful distance but in a way where it affects the Guru. This is actually a kind of meditation. neonlama(dot)com

  • it is nice to greet the Lama, but it is equally important to understand what it all means so that respect does not become disrespect.

  • greeting a Lama is a very nice practice to train awareness. All the items and rituals are not for decoration or materialistic reasons, but rather to train our mind and check our awareness of how to behave in the presence of a great being. Little things count when it comes to inviting your Lama. Every little detail counts, which is why more awareness has to be applied

  • what's a mamak stall?

  • hello bogy man. ROFL

  • I'm now wondering how dumb I look to the tibetan lama's when Im running around our local dharma centre... This video is hilarious.

  • haha as long as you're sincere, it dosent matter how you look. Naropa even stole food for Tilopa and overcame his pride and stole from people.

  • Thank you tsem rimpoche to make your talks available..they are all so useful to hear...I just discover tsem rimpoche browsing on youtube and I give 10stars and more to all of his talks....They are so clear, direct and powerful teachings tools and Tsem Rimpoche has such an eloquant way to talk of the dharma with a great sense of humour

  • we hope for more of these teachings to come. This teaching is so perfect to explain how and what all those things represent. Not many people can explain what are the incense for.

  • virtual student? here I am :-D!

    from Italy

  • lol...tulku with 'virtual' students...

  • I really like Tsem Tulku. He is very wise and he is great in mixing his knowledge with being funny. Great job!

  • even rinpoches shall gripe every once in a while. i was wondering if the uploader is a student of or tsem rinpoche himself? because i'd like to come for such meetings and would appreciate some information as in where and when, as i am studying in thailand at the moment and if the venue is malaysia, that's not very far at all

  • hi tangpa, all Tsem Tulku Rinpoche's videos are posted by his students. You are most welcomed to visit us in Malaysia and Tsem Tulku Rinpoche's Dharma center is Kechara House (www.kecharahouse.com)
