If you're saying this was the Thursday before the movie "Alien" was released, then it must be from May 24, 1979. WTCG became WTBS (now WPCH) on August 27, 1979. (Oddly enough, here in Canada where I'm writing this from, we get the Atlanta Peachtree TV feed and not the national TBS feed, so I'm seeing Atlanta commercials then. I got static when I lived in Newfoundland and Labrador because we didn't pay for it, except for the free previews of this and OUR Family Channel, now just Family.)
Ahhhhh...those were the days. Thank goodness for folks like this and sites like You Tube who preserve the cheesy goodness of our youth...
The 70's and 80's were really the best decades for Pop Culture in the way we think of it now. Of course, because most of the 'adults' right now 'grew up' in these decades..But let's face it, those two decades keep getting recycled more and more these days...I said a lot.. LOL
A L I E N Was a groundbreaker in that aspect,First Rrated film to have action figures, board games, etc aimed at kids-which made the film all the more alluring
@XoxEm0xoXF. Were the ladies that cute at register then, too? I remember going to one in 1979 at the Omni and around Tucker, Ga area with those arches.
@XoxEm0xoXF Youd have to worry about an accidental paradox. Plus you would have to pawn something when you get to the past or bring some antique dollar bills with you from the present so you wont get in trouble for counterfit money
@DaveSmithjr i grew up in Atlanta too.I remember these as well.I remember Bill Tush doing the early morning news about 6 am one morning circa 1976 .At end he ATE A STYROFOAM COFFEE CUP.He was so funny.
You can't beat that scared feeling you get when watching the Alien add.

Alien was released exactly 2 years after the original release of Star Wars and both films are space films and both films are from the same studio.
