great song frank, really brought tears to my eyes. i have lived away from home for 20 years and returned 10 years ago - love being home but love the irish abroad and i only wish i was with them to celebrate st. paddies day!
Frangill.,for your thoughts , In song. Another Nom de plume.. the Anonymous ( sic)utefreak88. Daniel. tis bushrat55 fr. stat. refer to :Children of the Gail. and your very own family of Killkenny. that being " The wild Geese of Ireland. god bless, keep faith.
An American says thank you to the Irish, for bringing the riches of your work, your music, your faith to my country. We will not forget the price you paid to strengthen this land. Truly, out of many: one.
Great video! The Irish who immigrated here had to deal with bigotry and a bad reputation but too to arms to defend America when she neeeded them. After this they earned the respect they deserved.
we've put out our fair share of albums in our day, so this is just a labor of love so far. The problem is finding time to write and record the songs. It seems like we had all the time in the world when we were younger and on the road, and now the real world takes up so much
Clearly American would not be as great & prosperous as it is today without the blood, sweat & sacrifice of na Éireannach & vids like this are great reminder of just how great a people the Irish are.
This is beautiful lovely song and vid. love the old pics. same old stories, most didn't want to leave, but did so to survive, and for a better life. think thats why they all kept certain ways like the music. many died trying to make that better life for themselves and their kids, and died for this country. they left their mark, built houses bridges railroads. they made it a better place here. Thanks for posting this. means alot to so many of us here.
Really great song! My great great grandfather came from Ballyhale during the famine. Such a small place, I was really surprised to hear and see it it your video!
Thanks for commenting.listen to Richard & Mary. They were my great grandparents from Ballyhale. Two ordinary people from a little Irish village that have hundreds of descendants in Ireland, the U.S. and around the world. It really makes one think of how we all are connected.
What a coincedence. Mine were Richard DeNeeffe and his wife Mary Mackay. They were actually residents of Knocktopher, but the ship manifest lists Ballyhale which is 1 mile away.
I was reading over your comment and realized, that my Grandmother's ship manifest said Ballyhale, but she was in fact from Knocktopher. It's a certainty that our ancestors knew one another.
Wow great song am highly impressed by all of your work actually, the emotions you capture with your work capture the same feelings Irish had who settled in Canada, to me we are one extended family. I know from stories passed on when my family from ireland came to canada during the famine that they kept a special place in their hearts for that misty green ireland that was home to our ancestors.
I'm a Talle..so many Irish married Italians at the turn of century because of the influx of mass immigration...The Irish and Italian..and many other Europeans built many structures, had many small business that built this foundation we call America. My Italian Nonna said the trip over the Atlantic...was rough in 1904- she was just a teenager but was so proud to be an American.I have her essay that she wrote about it. thanks for your story, song and lovely music of that time.
Great tune, Frank. Once again, you have captured the emotions that so many of us are feeling. I hope you get featured on St. Pat's Day on Youtube so more people can see your great work!
hello frank! great video i love the song is so lovely. i am mexican but i really admire all the people from ireland, to mexicans all of you have a very special place in ours hearts because we have irish heroes and they called the st patricks battalion (u.s.a/mexico war). we salute them we respect and we honor them every 12 of september. thank you for such great song god bless you.
May you always prosper my friend, I don't know you, but it's wonderful to see someone that remembers that fine group of men.
And the Irish and the Mexican people also have in common the harsh way America used us and scorned us. This is why I never allow any of the hatred towards Mexican imigrants go unchallenged if I hear it.
Hey, Frank, just dropping by to visit my uncle Jimmy.

Ah, I understand.
I've know a lot of musicians over the years, and I know getting a label and studio time is probably the hardest part.
Most bands can be performing lives shows for 10-20 years without recording a studio album.
(I actually play bass guitar myself but haven't been in a band since I was about 14 years old:)
