How does this video not have more views. One of the, if not THE, best Evangelion amvs I've seen and certainly to one of my favorite songs. Major props. Only thing that I felt hurt it a bit was the part with Shinji and Asuka on the beach where you lowered the song volume for her audio, but I couldn't quite hear her words so it seemed the effect was missed. But that's just my opinion.
Even with that, still a five out of five. Great video.
@Sinwar55 Thanks! Glad I kept the energy up all the way through. What do would you consider a "short" AMV?
Re: "Help": Yeah, 3:14 pretty much betrayed the "Help is on the way" assurances from the entire song... And in a way, the very last one is the roughest one of all. I set it up as Asuka's hope for the Help That Was On The Way - Battle-clad Shinji, charging to the rescue on a flurry of launch sparks and a fury for revenge. It.... didn't exactly turn out that way. ;)
(Con't) I also think "Audience of Eva" was also more character oriented, whereas this one seems to rely mainly on action and epic events. Both are great works that do different things, but I suppose I prefer the more story-oriented and thematic approach in "Audience" (plus, as you said in the descrip, the song was PURE Shinji); so I do enjoy "Audience" the most. :)
You have a gift for editing in either case, that's indisputable. <3 How long did it take you to make these AMVs?
@KajiCarson Yes, I agree with you there. AoE was inspired by the actions of characters; "Help" was inspired by specific scenes and character traits. AoE will always be "first" and my baby, but I felt "Help" also "had " to be made.
For each video, I'd say it takes about 48 hours in total, working off and on for a month or two with a big push in the final week. I don't keep a time log; now I'm thinking I should! (Continued)
@KajiCarson Part of the reason it takes rather long is that I like to layer the clips with meaning - significant things that will stand out sharply if one is quite familiar with the series. But I also want to keep it understandable enough that someone who hasn't seen the series still has a good general understanding of what the scenes and lyrics are working together to say.
One thing that helps is that NGE has TONS of hyper-fast cuts, with takes a lot of the work out of "frenetic" sequences.
Sych an intricate and energetic work; you juggle so many images in this vid, and it's amazing you can catch them so expertly. Lots of special effects, but thankfully not overused. I do think however that Asuka's "How disgusting" soundbite almost pauses the AMV for a second that wasn't needed (it interrupts the song and grinds it to a brief halt)---very abrupt compared to "Audience of Eva" where the soundbites were incorporated so smoothly. Lots of intercutting ensures rewatchability. :) (Con'd)
@Risu07 Thanks! :D I'll have to look around for a contest... Do you know of any that fit this genre of AMV? Haha, I always tend to make these "good" for myself because I'm a perfectionist, not because I'm eyeing to enter it into a contest. ^_^

Help is not on the way!
Shinji will just throw another tantrum and doom the world :) jk, jk.
I love how constant this amv is, usually long amvs tend to drag on to much but you just glued me to the screen.
Fantastic job m8.

@fireandchutes77 anything below 3 minutes i guess.
Don't get me wrong i love the title that contrast the actions in the video, it is like a happy apocalypse:)

@Sinwar55 Haha, yeah. There's a reason I put "Help" in parentheses. ;)
BTW, I keep getting a "This channel is not available" message when I click on your screenname. Do you have it privacy settings enabled?
fireandchutes77 5 months ago
@fireandchutes77 That is weird, i have no privacy or restriction options enabled, maybe youtube was in maintenance or something.
Let me know if it still dose that.

@Sinwar55 It's fixed itself... I guess it was site maintenance, then. :)

@ZacJackleReala Thank you! I'll have to look up "Survive." Is it also by Rise Against, or another band?
