I think adam has a great great voice, capable of incredible things, but I just can't really like it, because of the vibrato in the high notes. I don't know why he does that, maybe its me, but I don't like it But don't get me wrong, I think as I said, he has tremendous capabilities. I just wish he didn't do that trembling so often.
@heenez The vibrato is not normal for him. I don't know if it was a case of nerves or lack of rehearsal or what, but I doubt it will happen again. Just not his style.
@RamzessII it's called 'being nervous while performing on the same stage with such legends as Queen'. :)) Adam's said that it's such a great honor for him to be asked to perform with them because Q. & Freddie have always been his idols & inspiration.
Well, the difference between Freddy's and Adam's voices is the "security" that Freddy had when he hold those high notes. Adam doesn't have that. He can always, of course, improve.
i appreciate that adam lambert is a great singer, with fantastic stage presence & he's not a replacement etc., etc. but my opinion is that no-one is better than fred & when i hear queen perform with other singers, it just makes me realise how much i miss mr mercury.

wtwhat you got to believe that because I'm taking counselling classes to get over "my instant fascination"and obsession problems. I'm taking this year off from school (I'm 16). I wake up everyday have nothing to do just picks up my smartphone and starts researching on something that interests me. I have been researching on queen for a month mostdays I keep my phone away only at 3:00 In the morning. So I credible to make that patent so back off.
As for the vibrato, this performance is the ONLY time I've heard it this pronounced, and it seems to lighten as the performance goes on. Listen to ANY OTHER Adam performance and it's not the same at all. We mostly attribute it to nerves - Queen, televised to 1.2 billion people in 156 countries, possible cold, 3 hrs sleep. Adam is known for his vocals and control, so I don't expect this to happen again and the upcoming arena performances should be very worthwhile. He is an amazing live performer.

How come here in the US we welcome SO MANY foreign stars, i.e. Adele, Amy Winehouse, Leona Lewis, Hugh Laurie, Colin Firth, One Direction, Paul McCartney, many many others, yet you Queen fans can't even give the benefit of the doubt to a wonderful singer INVITED by Brian May and Roger Taylor to sing with them?? FYI - Brian May and Roger Taylor have chosen a group of guys for a official Queen sanctioned Tribute Band.
They have not been too enthused about some of the self annointed Queen Tribute bands already out there - so they decided to pick their own Tribute band.
This new “official” Queen Tribute band includes 3 Canadians - with Marc Martel chosen by Brian and Roger as the frontman. They supposedly are rehearing now for a tour this summer. Should be interesting...

I studied so much on queen listened so much on e'em (I have this obsession problem) and I think im qualified to give that opinion. Adam lambert sounds like a chipmunk. I'm not even comparing it with freddie's voice..... it just sucks. He should go sing chipmunk songs and leave classics alone.
Adam Lambert is a talented singer and has a good voice. I will give him that. I understand he doesn't want to replace Freddie, but pay tribute to Freddie. Adam's voice just isn't like Freddie's. No one can match Freddie's voice. I love Queen songs with Freddie as the lead singer. I will continue to listen to those.
I honestly believe that Freddie Mercury was the most talented frontman the world has ever seen. Voice like no other, and he knew how to OWN a stage. Nobody will be able to replace Freddie. He is the God of rock.
That being said, I really do like Adam Lambert. He has amazing stage presence, and a killer voice. I think that some really amazing music will come from this collaboration. Of course he interprets the music differently, he's a different person!

He ain't that bad of a singer. But in this case there is a lot vibrato in his voice when he sings. Easy fix though. Other than that. If Queen thinks he can get it done then then it im ok with it.
I'm beginning to judge men by the respect or disdain they project onto Adam Lambert. Many do so without knowing the 1st thing about him. Not all, but most of the hatred levied at Adam is predominantly by males. The name-calling bullies are especially disgusting. I think it's great that Brian and Roger still want to go out and play to an audience. They know as well as the rest of us that they can't replace Freddie, but at least they are picking people who have the ability and there own personality on stage.
I love Adam's voice, especially for theater... but I don't know what it is, I'm not too fond of his use of fast vibrato in Queen songs. It converts the feel of the song into an 80's glam band... I'm not sure if I like that yet.

WHY does it seem there is so much homophobic hate coming from the Queen fans? I don't get it? Adam is a very multifaceted performer singing everything from Opera (Come to me bend to me) to metal, to classic rock to pop. He LOVES ALL music and PERFORMING and was heavily inspired by Queen/Bowie/Michael J. He refused to hide his sexuality and was too gay for the suits to take a chance on him regardless of that voice. Idol was his last ditch effort. Freddie would respect his decision to go for it !!
I think both Freddie Mercury and Adam Lambert are both great singers..Freddie more of course, but when it comes to the new lead singer I fully believe that Marc Martel should be in Adam Lambert's place.

I wish his voice was just a tad deeper or rougher or something.... It sounds great, just not quite 'right', you know? You have a certain expectation for how it should sound and it's off just ever so slightly.

I'd definitely try to see him in concert if he came to my city, though.

Adam is in every way "just as good as Freddie" just in a different way. Adam's vibrato is superb even if in a very few instances it oscillates around the key note when the excitement got to him. HIs vocals are perfect for rock and meshed superbly with Brian May. Roger Taylor is inspired. Their EMA performance rocked the world and isn't it interesting that Adam gets more positive attention in Saudi Arabia than in Mississippi?!

OK In my quest to find this "Sonicfest" with Adam & Queen, I came across an Australian "Queen" Tribute band named, "Bohemian Rhapsody". Freddie's part is sung by a Thomas Crane, and he actually Looks AND Sings like Freddie! I'm not kidding - check it out on You Tube! By the way, I love Adam singing with Queen! I Love Adam! :)
I'm puzzled that so many are against Adam singing with Queen. Hardly any say bad word about Rodgers who's been singing with Queen many times. Personally I don't like Rodgers, he has too weak voice. I think those that dislike this can't handle that Adam is gay (Freddy was too) and probably they have not even listened Adam singing Queen songs. I prefer Adam before Rodgers.

As for the vibrato, this performance is the ONLY time I've heard it this pronounced, and it seems to lighten as the performance goes on. Listen to ANY OTHER Adam performance and it's not the same at all. We mostly attribute it to nerves - Queen, televised to 1.2 billion people in 156 countries, possible cold, 3 hrs sleep. Adam is known for his vocals and control, so I don't expect this to happen again and the upcoming arena performances should be very worthwhile. He is an amazing live performer.

If you're a fan of Queen, you need to understand that Freddie Mercury wasn't the only member of the band. The other 3 have families to support and the nostalgia keeps their namesake alive. Sure, the Paul Rodgers Queen kinda sucked. Sure, Marc Martel sounds a lot like Freddie. But who the hell are any of you to judge Adam Lambert? The dude is probably the best pure vocalist American Idol ever produced and he got screwed there. If Brian and Roger chose him, who are we to say he doesn't belong?

FYI - Brian May and Roger Taylor have chosen a group of guys for a official Queen sanctioned Tribute Band.
They have not been too enthused about some of the self annointed Queen Tribute bands already out there - so they decided to pick their own Tribute band.
This new “official” Queen Tribute band includes 3 Canadians - with Marc Martel chosen by Brian and Roger as the frontman. They supposedly are rehearing now for a tour this summer. Should be interesting...

Adam Lambert is a talented singer and has a good voice. I will give him that. I understand he doesn't want to replace Freddie, but pay tribute to Freddie. Adam's voice just isn't like Freddie's. I honestly believe that Freddie Mercury was the most talented frontman the world has ever seen. Voice like no other, and he knew how to OWN a stage. Nobody will be able to replace Freddie. He is the God of rock.
That being said, I really do like Adam Lambert. He has amazing stage presence, and a killer voice. I think that some really amazing music will come from this collaboration. Of course he interprets the music differently, he's a different person!

I love Adam's voice, especially for theater... but I don't know what it is, I'm not too fond of his use of fast vibrato in Queen songs. It converts the feel of the song into an 80's glam band... I'm not sure if I like that yet.

WHY does it seem there is so much homophobic hate coming from the Queen fans? I don't get it? Adam is a very multifaceted performer singing everything from Opera (Come to me bend to me) to metal, to classic rock to pop. He LOVES ALL music and PERFORMING and was heavily inspired by Queen/Bowie/Michael J. He refused to hide his sexuality and was too gay for the suits to take a chance on him regardless of that voice. Adam is in every way "just as good as Freddie" just in a different way. Adam's vibrato is superb even if in a very few instances it oscillates around the key note when the excitement got to him. HIs vocals are perfect for rock and meshed superbly with Brian May. Roger Taylor is inspired. Their EMA performance rocked the world and isn't it interesting that Adam gets more positive attention in Saudi Arabia than in Mississippi?!

:( idk im not saying freddies name doesnt need to be carried through adam but.... idk it bothers me that someone other than Freddie Mercury is singing these songs.....and dont jump at me with oh dont be a hater comments... jeez... im glad that now i will have a chance to see queen live but i just wish i had gotten the chance to see freddie preform.... same with journey i like Steve Perry more than the new singer but thats just me... Sorry... but I REALLY believe Brian and Roger have lost their way. Paul Rogers was a great addition to the band, even if Rock The Cosmos was crap lol This is dreadful. Sorry.. but Adams voice just doesnt have the range to perform these songs. Pity.. because I WAS going to go to Sonisphere. Not now. lol

Adam Lambert is NOT trying to sound like Freddie, when you complain he does not sound like Freddie you hit the nail on the head. Adam Lambert has his own VOICE does not need to imitate!!! If you check out any of his music you will find his range in music is incredible, he is a rising star in his own right. It is also the two people that matter Brian and Roger know talent, and they do not have to retire, they are still rockin it, and they are QUEEN!

OMG OMG O-OMG! I just saw it on the nighttime news: Adam IS singing with Queen this summer at Sonisphere, outside of London! I saw Adam on TV and I started jumping up and down screaming and running in circles! I can't wait - I hope he sings "Bohemian Rhapsody", best song ever!!!!!

Brian May fully supports Adam Lambert’s collaboration in this event and has also stated that “and I'm sure Adam would meet with Freddie's approval!"
Also, Brian May and Roger Taylor are very, very wealthy ... and they don’t have to do anything they absolutely don’t want or choose to do. They chose Adam Lambert for this event and genuinely seem very enthused about it.
They ARE Queen ... and their opinion is the only one that really matters.

OK In my quest to find this "Sonicfest" with Adam & Queen, I came across an Australian "Queen" Tribute band named, "Bohemian Rhapsody". Freddie's part is sung by a Thomas Crane, and he actually Looks AND Sings like Freddie! I'm not kidding - check it out on You Tube! By the way, I love Adam singing with Queen! I Love Adam! :)

I'm puzzled that so many are against Adam singing with Queen. Hardly any say bad word about Rodgers who's been singing with Queen many times. Personally I don't like Rodgers, he has too weak voice. I think those that dislike this can't handle that Adam is gay (Freddy was too) and probably they have not even listened Adam singing Queen songs. I prefer Adam before Rodgers.

Anything you want to say about Adam, there are two things you cant say.
1. That he's trying to replace Freddie. No. Freddie is one of Adam's biggest heroes & Adam has said that trying to replace/impersonate him is disrespectful & the idea is to pay tribute to and honor him.
2. He can't sing. If u think he can't sing look up 'Adam lambert is anybody listening' or 'broken open live' (which really shows his lower range) or really any live performance then come back and tell me what u think
