Used to fly in these all the time when I was in the army (UK). When you are on top of a mountain in Bosnia and u hear that unmistakable sound coming to pick u up is such a relief. Used to get very nervous in the back though when they start throwing it about and ur hanging on for dear life.
Chinnoks don't have flight engineers, no RAF helicopters do. As dahed said, he is an airloadmaster, or crewman specifically,as air loadmaster is more a fixed wing term.

FFS he is a Weapons Systems Operator, a posh name for a door gunner/crewman. they arnt crew chief, air loadmaster or flight engineers!

In the U.S. Army they have a Crew Chief/Flight Engineer and also a Door Gunner in hostile environments.
