Also you can't use sales of album to judge who a better singer is, Rihanna has sold more albums world wide than beyonce, but Bey blows her out of the water when it comes to vocals. Kelly is a superb singer, is just unfortunate that music today has lost it, so all we get are crappy songs and silly auto tunes. Beyonce has 16 grammys when legends like Mariah, Whitney, Diana, Aretha e.t.c dont have that much and i cant even remember what Beyonce sings *SMH* the standard of music has fallen..period.

I will tell you guys i am a Nigerian, of all the idol winners , the most famous in Africa are Kelly and Ruben. Kelly's songs are always played in my country and Breakaway was really huge... Lets stop arguing country stars are not big where i come from, thats why they rarely hold tours outside America.

I have seen that video of Carrie singing other genres, she does an okay job but she is no way near as versatile as Kelly. The only other genre Carrie is good at doing is rock. There is proof Kelly is more versatile. I have heard no one as versatile as Kelly.

Listen to her sing "Walking After Midnight", or any Reba song because she sounds pretty dang country. If you want to listen to her sing big band listen to her sing "Stuff Like That There" when she was on Idol and when she sang it on some of her tours, her singing the song "It's Alright With Me" or Tony Bennett's "Because of You". Those are examples of what she CAN sing.

Kelly Clarkson walks all over Carrie... its not that carrie sings bad, not at all she is great but Kelly has a powerful voice and her voice carries emotion.. its incredible
Carrie Underwood's voice is amazing, and so is Kelly's. However, I'd go with Carrie on this one. She just has a stronger voice overall. They both have huge ranges, but Carrie's voice is just better in my humble opinion.
I think kelly was better in the beginning but she started to lose it and by the time carrie came into the picture, she was better. Love the old kelly and always carrie!
Kelly, by FAR has the best voice and is the better performer. I have seen them both and met them both, super sweet girls, but Kelly is WAY better and much more thankful for her fans as far as I've seen.

@trea3123 I think it's better to be able to hit those notes, and lose your voice once, than to not be able to hit those notes at all. Her range goes at least an octave over Carrie's. She can hit the notes Carrie hits just fine, even the ones Carrie strains on. Kelly doesn't strain until well into the octave above Carrie's highest. Also, I bet Kelly's at a healthier weight than Carrie. Hollywood's standards are insane. People who call Kelly fat are the reason girls throw up over their toilets.

Also you can't use sales of album to judge who a better singer is, Rihanna has sold more albums world wide than beyonce, but Bey blows her out of the water when it comes to vocals. Kelly is a superb singer, is just unfortunate that music today has lost it, so all we get are crappy songs and silly auto tunes. Beyonce has 16 grammys when legends like Mariah, Whitney, Diana, Aretha e.t.c dont have that much and i cant even remember what Beyonce sings *SMH* the standard of music has fallen..period.

@kemyberry not to mention the beatles, the band unanimously considered the best band ever aka rock legends, only have like 4 grammys. grammys aren't a good indication of quality albums. they have a history of being out of touch from the moment they were created. just look at all the early winners. where's led zeppelin, the rollingstones, bob dylan, elvis? these are the greatest of the great but they dont have 16 grammys. there are times when they get it right like with lauren hill.

I will tell you guys i am a Nigerian, of all the idol winners , the most famous in Africa are Kelly and Ruben. Kelly's songs are always played in my country and Breakaway was really huge... Lets stop arguing country stars are not big where i come from, thats why they rarely hold tours outside America.
The likes of Beyonce, Wyclef, Jay z , Usher, Akon, amongst others have been to Nigeria to sing and South Africa which are the two largest countries in Africa.

And Carrie has only sold the most in the US but Kelly has sold the most world wide which world wide sales are more better. Carrie is a great singer no denying that but KC is better. I have seen that video of Carrie singing other genres, she does an okay job but she is no way near as versatile as Kelly. The only other genre Carrie is good at doing is rock. There is proof Kelly is more versatile. I have heard no one as versatile as Kelly.

Kelly has sold about 23 million worldwide. Daughtry nor Carrie will out sell her. BTW. Just because a singer has high sales does not necessarily make them a great singer. Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood both sing better than Taylor Swift. I like Taylor Swift's music better than Carrie's, but she does not have their vocal skills. Talent does not always equal album sales.

When she sings country it sounds country when she sings r&b it sounds r&b, when she sings big band it sounds big band. I have heard no one be more versatile than Kelly is. There are plenty of videos here on youtube to prove it. And she doesn't have that same "pop sound" in her duet with Jason. Please Kelly has more emotion in her voice than Carrie does.

Listen to her sing "Walking After Midnight", or any Reba song because she sounds pretty dang country. If you want to listen to her sing big band listen to her sing "Stuff Like That There" when she was on Idol and when she sang it on some of her tours, her singing the song "It's Alright With Me" or Tony Bennett's "Because of You". Those are examples of what she CAN sing.

Carrie Underwood's voice is amazing, and so is Kelly's. However, I'd go with Carrie on this one. She just has a stronger voice overall. They both have huge ranges, but Carrie's voice is just better in my humble opinion.

Well If I'm bashing Kelly, then so is hundreds of other folks who post articles that say Carrie is the most successful Idol and has the best vocals who is pitch perfect every night when she sings live. Been in more tv/movie programs and has been the only Idol to give back to charity while on tour for Idol Gives Back. I would say at least 65 of the 70 award speaches givin, she has thanked Idor or Simon Fuller. Don't take my word for it. Search for yourself.

@clpnyc Carrie's very good, but look at all of Kelly's idol performances with judge's comments. I dare you to find one insult the whole season. Carrie has quite a few, especially with the disco, r&b, and some of the rock songs. She is a very good singer though. And it is not Carrie who gets more bashed than Kelly. You need to read a tabloid or watch a celebrity news show if you don't think Kelly gets bashed.

@trea3123 I think it's better to be able to hit those notes, and lose your voice once, than to not be able to hit those notes at all. Her range goes at least an octave over Carrie's. She can hit the notes Carrie hits just fine, even the ones Carrie strains on. Kelly doesn't strain until well into the octave above Carrie's highest. Also, I bet Kelly's at a healthier weight than Carrie. Hollywood's standards are insane. People who call Kelly fat are the reason girls throw up over their toilets.

There are a lot of country snobs. They both are couple of my favorites and versatile. What does being versatile have to do with anything? No she can't. She originally had a five album contract but the a-holes at RCA supposely found a loop hole in the contract and because of that they were able to add another album. And I'm just wondering who says Carrie is the best vocalist of any genre. Carrie's a great country singer that's it. She no where sings every genre perfectly like Kelly can. And well good for Carrie being the first North American spokesperson for Olay :)

Did you see Carrie sing" Paradice City" at the CMA Fest this year? Search youtube. I think you will be impressed with her vocals. Search the web. Carrie is know for being the best vocalist of any genre. Until further notice. I saw a video that was 2yr old, & in it she said every 6 mo. She goes to a doctor to check her throat. Not sure if she still does

Well Kelly has sang for the Pope, the President unlike Carrie who hasn't. Kelly canceled those shows due to "lack of tickets" sell was way back in 2007. It's her stupid former manger's falt. It was stupid to plan a tour right when your cd comes out, etc. Kelly did just fine with the 2nd incarnation of it the MD tour, even though the tour was scaled down but still who cares. I doubt Carrie could sell that same venue in the Phillippines. Kelly's here to stay friend & she is a league of her own.

@carolinagirl009 Kelly's sales are not doing so well in the US. Carrie has long passed her. I think that if her managers are to blame, then I'd say it's time to goto another record label. In pop, it's do or die in that profession. "she is a league of her own"? In Idol news, it's all about Carrie, Adam and Daughtry. Carries been on more mag covers than all Idols combined!

Carri can not sing other genres like Kelly can. Kelly is easily one one of the very few if not the only singer out there that can sing every genre perfectly. When she she sings rock it sounds rock, when she sings country it sounds country, when she sings big band it sounds big band, etc. Carrie's success would not put KC to shame um hello who's the worldwide star here Kelly who has accomplished way more every where than Carrie has. Well Kelly has sold out shows in S. Africa, Austraila, etc

Kelly is way better then carrie. Her voice isn't as winy as carrie's. Kelly has a stronger voice. Simon cowell might have said that carrie would break the amount of albums sold out of all the American Idol winners, BUT kelly has sold more Albums WORLDWIDE then any other American Idol Winner. Therefore Kelly is better has powerful vocals she is known worldwide, whil carrie is mainly know in America.

All three American Idol acts on The Billboard 200 saw week-over-week sales increases last week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Carrie Underwood's Play On, the week's top-selling Idol album, had a 2% uptick and 9,000 sales. Both Daughtry's albums saw growth, with Leave This Town jumping 18%. And Adam Lambert's For Your Entertainment sold 5,000 copies, with a 1% increase over the previous week.

Yeah well she has more #1's that are other charts besides the Hot 100 Iike the AT 40, Hot AC Charts, the Canadian Hot 100, UK Chart, the World Chart, etc Kelly is not over just wait for her 5th album & she will be dueting with Jason Aldean on a song on his new album coming out & it wouldn't surprise me if climbs up the charts. The girl's a legend in the making and don't even say Carrie is one already cause she's not

Please Carrie can not sing anything compared to Kelly. I would love to hear in one concert Carrie sing punk/rock, r&b,big band, blues in addition to country like Kelly can. Um well Billboard Magazine didn't name Carrie the most successful Idol, they gave Kelly that title & she deserves it more than anyone from Idol. And if Kelly didn't we would have no idea who Carrie is. Grammy's are just a popularity contest now, I mean look at some of the ppl who get nominated for them & win them today.

Bull shit Kelly did not sound horrible than Carrie. Kelly had the best vocals hands down, she was better Carrie by a long shot. Yeah Carrie gets asked to come back because she is still with 19 Mangement & she stuck up Idols's butt unlike Kelly who is not stuck up their butt. Well Carrie doesn't travel the world like Kelly does. Kelly is ususally overseas touring during Idol.

No mention of Kelly on the web. Carrie can, and has proven she can sing anything! Simon never gave her a prediction like he did with Carrie. Even though he failed with Daughtry. Do your homework 1st then come and try to make Kelly the best Idol.

@JZ311995 Well first off the reason Kelly has sold more worldwide is cause she sings pop.. which is popular world wide.. Carrie sings country and that isn't as popular worldwide.. also Kelly had 3-4 years head start so yeah Carrie beating her in the US sales is saying something... sorry Carrie wins :)
