The refueling rod is busted. The way that happened is that when the helicopter got off balance with the blades, the blades stayed level but the helicopter did not. So the rod went to a height that let the blades chop off the refueling rod, therefore making it impossible for the helicopter to refuel. I sure hope they got enough fuel to land for repairs!

Actually the pilot did the right thing....He was pulling up and away from the refueling line, which if he hit could have caused a catastrophic crash because it could have taken off a propeller and cause the helo to go down.....think before you post a stupid video on youtube.....dumbass

there is a draft behind a C-130 that can reduce lift, and the when you clear the draft corridor , the Pave Low will attempt to gain altitude...that is what happened

If the entire chute would have tangeled around the base of the rotorblade the stearing could have been seriously comprimised so they could have crashed, the rotorblades are extremelt sturdy and could take some even if i dont exactly thinkt the pilot did this on purpose.

When the line snapped up the pilot did the only thing he could, which was to do the same. The title of this video should be changed.

It IS a very difficult task indeed to plug the probe into the refueling basket... considering BOTH aircraft are moving, and there's a whole ton of synchronisation involved. He's damned lucky the probe broke and not the rotor blades. The probe is probably designed that way for this very reason, but I'll bet that pilot pissed himself when he saw that rotor-strike.

Trying to refuel a pave low midair is a very hard thing to do. The pave low is trying to go as fast as it can and the hc-130 as slow as it can.

@Frantonik They need to be a bit floppy like that so they don't break. If they were a completely solid construct with no give what-so-ever, they would snap under pressure doing something like this. Aeronautical engineers understand how these things work, which is why they are engineers and not people on Youtube. The stupid person in this situation is the pilot, with his over-dramatic reaction to a wind change.
