hey pipi u should seek out maldon salt. probably available online. it hails from my hometown of Maldon, England and is generally considdered the best sea salt in the world. it's wonderful. try it out brother!
@KiddsockTV My point was that you don't even need salt to enhance flavor. There's already enough salt in food naturally to provide what the body needs. As far as flavor goes, things taste better without salt once you've broken the salt habit.
I found and read a book called: "Salt Kills" when I was just about 10 or so. I'm so anti salt I don't usually even have it in my home. I never understood what it is about Salt that people think tastes so good.
@LupusLife It's not that salt itself tastes good, (well in most cases) It's a flavor enhancer. that's why it's added to things you don't want salty. it makes food taste brighter. That's also what Ms. Dash tries to do. It's not made to taste like salt, it's made to be an alternative flavor enhancer. Obviously the exceptions are things like chips, popcorn, fries, there people generally just want salty.
Ah yes, pepper, that which "healthy" meals use to cover up bland, cardboard taste.
But, you do need a little salt in you. I mean, you don't need to add salt to foods, but the whole water-salt ratio has to be fairly even. How else are your fingers to wrinkle in the bath?
I BBQed my chicken breast without salt and it tasted great. I didn't even need to marinate it.
Speaking of marinate, I'm going to add rosemary to my steak/hamburger marinate next summer. It's been scientifically proven to stop cancer causing agents in charred red meats by Kansas State U. I've also reduced my grilling under 375 degrees.
But where would olives be without salty, briney goodness? I've gotta have olives when I eat Italian or Greek food! I never add extra salt to a meal though, once its served but I do use it in cooking to add seasoning, with pepper and to raise the boiling point of the cooking water.
pepper. fly shit. fly shit? no. pepper. ah the good old days

@ChristopherMast I said I don't ADD salt. I don't shun it. The wheat thins I received were sweet cinnamon. No external salt btw. :P

So many different kinds of salt. You should really only use enough to enhance flavor. Too many people useso much Salt it Covers the flavor of food.

Every time I hear the term "salt of the earth" it always makes me think of that song in the movie Godspell.
"You are the salt of the earth
You are the salt of the earth
But if that salt has lost its flavor
It ain't got much in its favor
You can't have that fault and be the salt of the earth"
I'm going to be humming it all day, everyone around me is going to want to kill me.

I used to love salt as a kid, now not so bothered about it. I like sea salt, its not as strong as table salt.
I love my spice cupboard, and I don't understand why people don't use herbs and spices at every opportunity!

I love salt. I have to limit it though because it can give me kidney stones. :(
