to me this song is dreaming about that special love u see in your dream, u dont know who they r .... all u know is that u feel unconditional love and well-being............ then u wake up and its over...... but the cycle continues.... hopefully again the next night.
I love this tune by Floyd. The whole album is great. Gets overshadowed by Dark Side of the Moon and Wish you were here. This is awesome with headphones. Be sure to listen to Echoes with phones on in a dark room. By far one of the best bands to get lost with in their music. Been my favorite band ever since i heard Wish you were here back in the 70's. Got so many memories of the times, the friends, and Floyd. I will never tire of their music. I will be in my 70's and still rockin with Pink
Also to me this is from my favourites songs. It's ever made thinking to me about waking in bed with lover by my side and the open window in the morning of early summer. Exactly like in lyrics..it's very in agree with music..awesome!
@wheelinthesky300 I dont think you can really judge syd's potential on what he produced after he left floyd. The fact that he was so ill definately had a pretty bad effect on the music he wrote. If Syd hadn't have got messed up in the head pink floyd would've been a very different band. Who knows if it would've been better or worse?
This song has such a deep meaning of love. Whenever i am feeling lonely or depressed this song is not joyful.. but comforting. Pink floyd mastered the emotion of music.
Always been my favorite song, from my favorite album. It makes me visualize lying in a grassy meadow, next to a weeping willow tree and a large pond, staring up at the sky, ready to float out of my body.
ye motrinman18, thats great, most people don't understand this, but it's great when a certain song relates to times in your life and whenever you listen to a song( usually pink floyd) you can't get that picture out of your head, when listening to pink floyd I am not really in my front room, I am in my own little world.
Not to sound like every other comment out there, but I did listen to this while I was high...it was more like a mellow high...and I looked out the window for a while. For some reason, I was taken back to the thoughts of my childhood. It was a beautiful kind of mindfulness.
Meddle is one of my favorite Pink albums. It's amazing that some Floyd fans have never heard this album but then again if you haven't heard every album, your not a true fan.
I would like to know if there exist another slide guitar tune as beautiful as this... One that hasn't been played by David Gilmour. Do exist such a thing?
The transition at 2:59 has always been so Heavenly for me. The power of the thumbed E string at 4:01 so in comand of the sound box and string vibration. Such a thrilling group for me. These last decades I've refered to Pink Floyd as 'The Beethoven of Rock'.
The Floyd is amazing. The almost never put out anything mediocre. It's all quality music and every album is somehow distinct from the other. They are simply in a league of their own. It's too bad about Richard Wright. I guess we'll never see them reunited again. RIP Rick Wright.

Days Of Future Past is the second album of The Moody Blues, a awesome record, but not a Pink Floy Album. Maybe you're searching for One of these days, the first track on Pink Floyd's 1971 album Meddle?
It's been a while, but if memory serves me correctly the album was supposed to be called "Metal". It was a band joke that the album was a heavy metal album. When they were making final decisions for the album they were touring in Japan(I believe) and when they told the person the name of the album because of the bad phone connection he thought they said "Meddle". @misslizardking27 Hate to say it, but if Syd had stayed sane,
and Gilmour never come on board, we would have missed out on a lot.
Let's face it, Syd's few solo efforts did not represent the kind of musical evolution that the Waters/Gilmour helmed band did.
