  • great porn ;)

  • A great way to start New Hampshire's ABC station!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I realize the "9's Alive" ID is incomplete.

  • This exact test pattern as at the start of this video was also used for many years (starting c.1966-67) by then-NBC-owned WKYC-TV in Cleveland, Ohio.

  • WMUR-TV is the only network affiliate station in New Hampshire. It's an ABC affiliate. It's been affiliated with ABC for fifty years (since 1958).

  • WMUR hasnt changed their logo in a while now. i wonder when they will

  • The old man on the mountain, man, I cannot believe it's gone since 2003

  • me neither...i never got to see it...and I went frequently to the white mountains

  • why dont they do sign ons anymore? i used to wake up to these every day

  • Insomnia is likely the culprit. Rebroadcast programs and news run given the fact some people can't sleep. No insomniac wants to see an electronic blizzard with a roaring sound.

I do know how you feel. I miss them too. Dana Hersey, Donna Marie, Chris Clausen and the late Tom Evans spoke in the night. Those were the days.

  • Punkghost21: It's better on the transmitter to keep it going 24 hours a day. Turning it off and on daily causes undo stress on the equipment. That, and better station automation allowing unmanned operation in the overnight hours.

  • I never stopped to consider that. You make an excellent point. Thanks.

  • I suppose the color "circular" test pattern was late 1960's?

  • It probably was. And I can remember it directly back to 1975.

  • Based on the tint and relative lightness of the green, and the grey seen in the outer quads (irrespective of the variables of age, wear, etc.), I'd say this preceded by some years WLVI's test pattern - and I know that one had to be from 1974 because that's when Channel 56 first used those call letters.

  • This WMUR TP slide art surely dates to before 1975. Even though I'd seen this one going back to the late 60's, I can remember it particularly by a 6/75 Kodak Instamatic snapshot, which I made.

  • @MSTS1 - Someone noted that the color pattern for WMUR was first placed into service around 1973 - which was around the time the station first went color. Previously they had a B&W pattern with station info (calls, channel number and city) and a slogan, "The VOICE and VISION of New Hampshire."

  • Well, if not as far back as the 60's, anything pre-'75 sounds right ... But then also, all our TV viewing here prior to 1973 was in B+W, so maybe I'd also seen the earlier TP..

  • The B&W TP design used by WMUR prior to c.1973 was also in use at WENH-11 in Durham, NH.

  • Appropriate with the New Hampshire Primary coming up. Wanted to see a sign-on for this station.
