Yilin is such a typical Chinese girl: modest, low profiled and kind. Yilin doesn't know where her beauty is, which makes her more attractive. I've watched many interviews about her and she just didn't talk that much. I'm a big fan of gymnastics, but I don't really care which colour of the medal she got here. Other gymnasts who attended this olympic games performed excellently as well. Their work cannot be judged only by a medal. They deserve much more as respect, encouragement and understanding.
i love nastia, i honestly do, but to this day i still think shawn deserved gold. i understand she could've been better but i just think she deserved it! great job nastia ur awesome! =]

Semenova hit her routine it just didn't have the start value as everyone else. There is no way she could be 2007 bars champ if she had the terrible form you speak of. If she did she improved so much she became European Champ a year later with one of the best floor routines of the century. So too answer your question, no its not a joke.

This NBC footage team crew was on crack...where was Anna Pavlova? She qualified in the top group of 6 (the group that NBC always had their cameras on) and she placed fourth at the last Olympics (robbed). I know she is not in this montage because she placed 7th (1 spot out of the top 6 which were shown here) but NBC was even showing Shawn and Nastia giving death stares to each other during Pavlova's beam routine (third highest beam score in the AA behind Nastia and Shawn of 15.975)
i just noticed that, yea it does :( i think its bcuz every1 was expecting her 2 be the all-around champ, so that was a lot of pressure, plus she had small mess-ups on moves that she usually performs perfectly, like the bobble on her standing full on beam, so she was probably disappointed with herself for that
im an avid womens gymnastics olympics watcher since 1992. 2008 china must have payed off the judges in the overalls because china girls were falling and messing up critically and got big scores while usa women got low scores for great flawless routines. ive never see that level of blatant biased judging in all my years of watching womens gymnastics. judging was so bad that executive judge had to com from out the booth to correct score for usa girls. that executive name is nelly kim of korea.
I am an american, but China won fair and square that day... China was just better that day. Where did China recieve "super high" scores? If you say Cheng Fei on vault and still medaling. Consider Nastia (who I am a huge fan of) falling and still making it to bars finals

I agree with most that Nastia was the rightful winner of the gold medal, as her routines were the best executed(especially vault and beam), but I wouldn't have minded if Semenova won either the silver or bronze, she's such a joy to watch on all the events. I also feel quite bad for Jiang Yuyuan. If she had hit all four routines, I think she would've medalled as well.

Nastia is WAY more gracefull than Shawn, beautifull to watch, whereas Shawn is a powerhouse. Lets see how she gets on with the new code of rules! Id also love it if there was a rule where everyone was only allowed to have coaches from their own country! See how you all do then!!!!

She has higher start values, but the sport is not called "power tumbler". It's called ARTISTIC Gymnastics. Plus Nastia has an amazingly, ridiculously high start value on Uneven Bars, a apparatus that happens to be Shawn's worst. I'm not a Shawn hater, but Nastia outperformed her, and out executed Shawn. Shawn did good on on UB and FX, but she couldn't get her Anamar around and her torso higher on her full twist on B. Look at Nastia's performances, and her scores. Nastia was the one underscored.

Where did Shawn do better than Nastia? Granted she did better in execution in uneven bars, but she screw up vault and Nastia didn't. Point being, Shawn lost when Nastia was underscored and Shawn was overscored.
Shawn had a full point higher difficulty on vault she did a full twist more had better exicution score on uneven bars and better both on beam and floor shawn was robbed so put that in your pipe and smoke it. Shawn rules nastia stinks!!!!!
I dont think Mary Lou was unhappy about Shawn losing. I dont know when that video was taken but its probably not from after Nasia won. She would atleast be happy about an Amercan winning. Svetlana is after she won though.
Oh yeah, I was also mad that Cheng Fei took the bronze on beam instead of Anna Palova, Anna deserves the bronze not some very bad form Chinese (no offense, I am Chinese, but I can really tell that Anna's routine was better enough that she would have beatten Cheng Fei.) I also felt bad for Samatha and Chellise, they were so happy to be at the Olympics, but it was cut short because of injury and can only compete on bars in the team competition. Fate is really curel to gymnastics at 2008 Olympics.
I am very disappointed in the 2008 Olympics. The USA didn't win the team gold, Nastia won the all-around even though Shawn Johnson deserves (the judges gave her too low scores on bars and vault, even though they looked better then they were scored), the Romanions beat the Russains and Sandra wining floor instead of Shawn Johnson. I didn't care that Nastia didn't win bars and beam, thats for her taking the all-around title that should belong to Shawn Johson! I deserve to say my own opinnion!
Shawn didn't deserve a higher score on vault. Nastia did a "perfect vault" stuck it and they found .5 deduction. So Shawn's deductions were more servere. Bars shawn is against girls who have a start value a whole point or more (Nastia, Yilian, Jiang, Ksenia.) The judging was fine during the all around, Nastia just had a better meet that day. Shawn very well could have won any other day.
yes exactly! shawn was lucky not to get her 2.5 twisting yurchenko downgraded to a DTY... the judges could've turned around and say she wasn't completely around. Natia jsut had glue on her feet that night, every single landing nailed except for her bars dismount. As for floor event finals, sandra has better leaps than shawn and triple spin. Dance important in gymnastics, not just tumbling, otherwise go and watch trampoline or something. If you don't see all this, you do not appreciate gymnastics
Sacramones performance was terrible during the olympics and was the reason why Team USA lost. With that kind of performance and still made it to the national team, I wonder how many coaches did she have to sleep with in order to get the spot. Her ass is so fat, I think her ass is at least 20 pounds extra compared to her teammates. That was why she brought down Team USA. Stupid bitch should go to Jenny Craig. Alicia will go down as the worst, and most disgraceful gymnast in Olympic history.
Alicia Sacramone performed poorly at the olympics. She choked big time. She is not a clutch player. She is a disgrace. Then she blamed the judges. She blamed the delay, blamed the underage chinese gymnasts, blamed the chinese coaches making weird noises during her routines, blamed the pressure of the media, blamed liukin and johnson for not making the beam final (the 2 per country rule). She blamed everything under the sun for her epic failures.

I think Mery Lou Retton (Sorry if the spelling is wrong) reacted rudely to Nastia winning the gold. She just stood there and I know she likes Shawn but you do have to show some respect. I am a huge Nastia fan but Shawn reacted very cute and respectively when she went up to hug Nastia! Obviously, they both wanted the same thing!
if you're talking about her 'reaction' in this clip that was before the results were announced and confirmed, so they were still waiting for shawn's floor score. still, it does seem that she favours shawn over nastia.
where? It might have.. but the girls are allowed to compete at 15 as long as they turn 16 in the Olympic year. So she could have born between August and December 1992 and still be competing at the age of 15.

nastia beat shawn on beam the whole season, does that mean shawn doesn't deserve her gold? of course it doesn't, they were the best on the day, just different days, that's the point of the sport. and stop insulting shawn's silver in the all-around which is a brilliant achievement and something she should be, and i'm certain is, very proud of.

Where did Shawn do better than Nastia? Granted she did better in execution in uneven bars, but she screw up vault and Nastia didn't. Point being, Shawn lost when Nastia was underscored and Shawn was overscored.

Shawn had a full point higher difficulty on vault she did a full twist more had better exicution score on uneven bars and better both on beam and floor shawn was robbed so put that in your pipe and smoke it. Shawn rules nastia stinks!!!!!

I dont think Mary Lou was unhappy about Shawn losing. I dont know when that video was taken but its probably not from after Nasia won. She would atleast be happy about an Amercan winning. Svetlana is after she won though.

Oh yeah, I was also mad that Cheng Fei took the bronze on beam instead of Anna Palova, Anna deserves the bronze not some very bad form Chinese (no offense, I am Chinese, but I can really tell that Anna's routine was better enough that she would have beatten Cheng Fei.) I also felt bad for Samatha and Chellise, they were so happy to be at the Olympics, but it was cut short because of injury and can only compete on bars in the team competition. Fate is really curel to gymnastics at 2008 Olympics.

I am very disappointed in the 2008 Olympics. The USA didn't win the team gold, Nastia won the all-around even though Shawn Johnson deserves (the judges gave her too low scores on bars and vault, even though they looked better then they were scored), the Romanions beat the Russains and Sandra wining floor instead of Shawn Johnson. I didn't care that Nastia didn't win bars and beam, thats for her taking the all-around title that should belong to Shawn Johson! I deserve to say my own opinnion!

Shawn didn't deserve a higher score on vault. Nastia did a "perfect vault" stuck it and they found .5 deduction. So Shawn's deductions were more servere. Bars shawn is against girls who have a start value a whole point or more (Nastia, Yilian, Jiang, Ksenia.) The judging was fine during the all around, Nastia just had a better meet that day. Shawn very well could have won any other day.

yes exactly! shawn was lucky not to get her 2.5 twisting yurchenko downgraded to a DTY... the judges could've turned around and say she wasn't completely around. Natia jsut had glue on her feet that night, every single landing nailed except for her bars dismount. As for floor event finals, sandra has better leaps than shawn and triple spin. Dance important in gymnastics, not just tumbling, otherwise go and watch trampoline or something. If you don't see all this, you do not appreciate gymnastics

Sacramones performance was terrible during the olympics and was the reason why Team USA lost. With that kind of performance and still made it to the national team, I wonder how many coaches did she have to sleep with in order to get the spot. Her ass is so fat, I think her ass is at least 20 pounds extra compared to her teammates. That was why she brought down Team USA. Stupid bitch should go to Jenny Craig. Alicia will go down as the worst, and most disgraceful gymnast in Olympic history.

Alicia Sacramone performed poorly at the olympics. She choked big time. She is not a clutch player. She is a disgrace. Then she blamed the judges. She blamed the delay, blamed the underage chinese gymnasts, blamed the chinese coaches making weird noises during her routines, blamed the pressure of the media, blamed liukin and johnson for not making the beam final (the 2 per country rule). She blamed everything under the sun for her epic failures.

I think Mery Lou Retton (Sorry if the spelling is wrong) reacted rudely to Nastia winning the gold. She just stood there and I know she likes Shawn but you do have to show some respect. I am a huge Nastia fan but Shawn reacted very cute and respectively when she went up to hug Nastia! Obviously, they both wanted the same thing!

where? It might have.. but the girls are allowed to compete at 15 as long as they turn 16 in the Olympic year. So she could have born between August and December 1992 and still be competing at the age of 15.
