Yes, the government is corrupt. However, defending lower taxation in the name of "freedom" just doesn't make sense. A significant portion of the deficit has been contributed to by tax cuts for the wealthy, which has meant cuts to social programs. It's not very "free" to be stuck in the cycle of poverty your whole life, taking on massive student loans to try to get yourself out. Look it up, each dollar invested in social programs puts more money into the economy.
