I accidentally poked a hole in the side of the volcanoe... i've had to wait quite a while for it to empty out low enough for it to no longer be a problem. On the plus side things have levelled out and I now have almost 40 dwarves.

hey captnduck! why don't you just make a garbage zone and dump all the stones there and reclaim them later? stone stockpiles are useless

@draakjepet Did You see how much diggy diggy hole he was doing?(a lot of stone everywhere) I think dumping all the stones would make the fortress paralyzed (because too little dwarws in the fortress and a lot of stone everywhere, they would simply take for ever to dump all of it) thats why he made the stone stockpile of only 2 types. (I assume, this is just my opinion, my thoughts)

@Nohrel you don't have to dump ALL the stones. you can just select the area. but after a while i realized he did it becouse he wanted marble and obsidion roks. not just some randmonly of all.

@draakjepet Yea true that, I once selected ALL the stones to be transported to a garbage zone.. I had like 70 dwarfs, and the dump was above the ground. Not a wise move... not a wise move at all ;p Took me like 30 minutes to make them transport the stones, if not more. I had a clean fortress though xd

@draakjepet Exactly. I want marble and obsidian there for crafting purposes, since its worth more then random rock. And the stone stockpile is especially for that.

@draakjepet emm I apologize for my English? xd I will try to explain what I wrote. Making a garbage zone and dumping all the stones would cripple the effectiveness of the fortress's economy, Why? Because the dwarfs would start to dump all the stones and abandon other tasks. There is only like 10 dwarfs and over 9000 thousand stones. Making a stockpile for 2 types of stones (like he did in the vid) seems a good economic move taking in consideration that he has so few dwarfs. IMO ;p

The dwarfes will take the stones that are closest to their workshop. Not sure, but maybe marble is worth more than most stones, so selling marble-stuff and decorating with marble is muuuch cooler ;)

a small stockpile will be enough because the stones will immideately be replaced once the craftsdwarf picks a rock and leaves a free square on the stockpile.

And if you want to build a lot of walls outside, you may want to make a big stone stockpile on the surface ;)

Heya! Loving your LP, going to be watching as new episodes come out. Question though, why did you construct the glassworks outdoors?

@hempab Because it would take a much longer time to route the lava to near my main staircase. This was nice and quick and it will be moved inside later.
