  • A HA! I have found the music segment used for the DRAMATIC PRAIRIE DOG (or the erroneously called Hamster)

I defiantly suggest you try it; it makes me get goosebumps all ovee. Truly amazing book, music and of course, Young Frankenstein has to be one of the best films ever made :')

  • 2:43 - origin of Dramatic Chipmunk music :3

  • where did u get the pictures from ?

  • Young Frankenstein is not just not just another Mel Brooks comedy (brilliant though they are) there are moments of true pathos and true horror, and I can think Morris' theme is the crown jewel. Within the spoof of the Universal Horrors he made a piece to rival (and in my opinion top) the music of the serious originals.

  • I can see why the monster responded to this. It really does get to the soul. :D

  • Marvelous! I truly LOVE everything about Young Frankenstein, one of the greatest movie ever! ^^

  • I know the movie is on many levels a comedy, an adaptation of both the book and the films it spawned. But it is a love story after all - just like the original film, and this music makes me cry it is so deep and moving it make the film more then just a comedy.

It is a classic not just a comedy.

  • Hi

I'd like to know what's the first picture (01 sec.) of your video...thanks Alessandro

  • All I can think of when I hear this is the hilarity of the movie!!!!!!

  • I'm really happy that I am not the only person who thought that this score was BEAUTIFUL!!!

    Ps

  • This song usually brings me to tears at the key change!

  • I just love this song. Is there anyway to get the notes for this song?

  • I love how music can just blow your mind and make you feel things you would never expect to feel.

  • This song reminds me of "I bring you a song" from Bambi... Strange I guess. Both very old movies. I love the sweet memories from those times..

  • this music is AMAZING.... and it makes hte movie sound so authentic :D LOVE

  • ANYBODY KNOW WHO IS THE VIOLINIST, please? Thanks a lot!

  • Well i watched it in school, I was waiting for us to be able to finish it. I missed it, because of stupid math, though. Just gonna watch it online.

  • I'm not NEARLY as old as this film, our teacher just started showing it to us today in school, and the minute it went on i wa slike "OMG SICK MUSIC!" people were like "fast forward past credits!" and i said "NO I LOVE THE MUSIC!" (thank god he didn't speed it up, phew) glad it was so easy to find! thanks for posting! soon as i get my ipod back, this is SO going on. The movie's funny so far, we're about to the part where he finds his grandfahters secret libraray. cant wait to finish friday!

  • the old movies the best fuck you new movies

  • @almnazl1 wow ok, who cares man lets just enjoy the music

  • Hello would you like to roll in the hay? roll roll roll in the hay.

Very beautiful video. matches the melody so well.

  • Even though the film is a satire of the book, this music is the perfect expression of Shelly's story; astonishing and tragic.

  • @RosaSionis

    How's the book? I'm interested *3*

  • The book?

Tragic, complex, dark and beautiful. It is written in very high language (aristocratic English) and has many references to God and nature.

  • Would you reccomend it for a teenager? *cough* hint hint....and I think I could understand it, should I keep a dictionary in hand.... references to God may bother me, though but.....is it anything like the movie? The movie was a comedy and all.

  • PUT THE CANDLE BACK!!

  • MMMMMM.......MMMMMMMMM...RRRRRMMMMMMM Oh sweet mystery of life I finally found you...

  • i always thought i have no heart but this music tough my heart really that music make me cry for 1st time from 10 month

  • Despite this being a comedy the music truely is amazing and really adds to the film seeming "old". Gives me chills.

  • absolutely agree.

  • I heard The Dramatic Chipmunk in the opening bars :D

  • i just love this tune

why is it so hard to find violin sheet music of it though argh

  • Hey, I'm playing this tune at a gig I have soon. I've been plugging away at it by ear, but I'm probably going to end up writing it down. If you want, I could send it to you when I finish.

  • this music it's so beauty...im criyng...

  • great film and music!!

  • Didn't you used to have that on the other side?

    Have what over what side?

    Never mind...

  • fascinating and touching song , amazing images , great!)

  • I don't know who's idea it was that Frankenstein should end with Frankenstein's monster running away to a windmill with his bride while being chased away by the villagers, where they finally burn him. First, that's not how the original novel ends. Second, in Mary Shelley's novel, the monster is extremely strong and fast, so no villagers could "chase" him away anywhere. Third, Frankenstein refuses to make him his bride in the novel. And Dracula is another case. Get the stories straight.

  • I agree entirely but leaving the inconsistencies aside, they make good films. But then again as Christopher Lee once said - "No one has ever filmed it the way Stoker wrote it"

  • you mean shelley, yeah? stoker wrote dracula whereas mary shelley wrote frankenstein. the quotes undoubtedly right but since this film isnt about dracula or vampires in general :)

  • @teenphantom...shelley is the one wrote this story. u shoudl read it its pretty friggin awesome...

  • I was refering to Dracula with the quote from Christopher Lee but was coniving to sugest that when It comes to Film versions of these Great books, no one ever does it right.

  • I watch this! No Norwegian subtitles!

  • Wait! I was going to make espresso!

  • incredible and the pictures kind of match the story

  • Excellent!

  • Fantastic! :)

  • oh! i just luv that song!

  • What's that song called?

  • A Transsylvanian Lullaby by Gil Shaham & Jonathan Feldman from the Devil's Dance album

  • This almost sounds like it could have been put into Fiddler on the Roof, had it been composed earlier than 1974-3

  • soo beautiful and mysterious

  • Of course Mel Brooks's film is a send-up of the old Frankenstein films, but it is also a loving tribute. Morris's music sets the tone perfectly, with just the right mix of real pathos and absurdly over-the-top drama. Lovely, and the best tribute a film composer could write.

  • wow è splendida...fa sognare

  • interesting and yet haunting

  • beautiful

  • I love John Morris so much. Excellent composer. <333 OMG! He's still alive -- DID NOT KNOW THIS!

  • I'm probably going to sound like a dork, but this is the song that made me take up violin as a kid.

  • Oh dude, that's awesome. Asfar as reasons for learning violin go, that's a great one.

  • A beautiful song. Oddly enough, it sounds like a rather serious and depressing song for the not-so-serious movie. oO

  • fav violin piece ever

  • I remember when I was a child, my parents showed me and my brother this movie. This music made me cry, and it still does, but for a different reason. I can't think of any violin piece that I love as much as this one. Thank you for posting this song in all of its musical beauty.

  • I absolutley love this music. The violin plays greatly in this sad like tone which what makes it sound so beautiful. Every note in this music really gets into my soul and it just takes my breath away.

I remember when I was watching a Sky movie special on Van Helsing a few years ago, I heard this music playing in the background during a brief interview with Hugh Jackman and I instantly recognised it by the violin playing.

Thanks for bringing back a good memory that I will treasure forever.

  • OMG!!!!! I love this tune! its soooooo sothing. If he makes more songs, that would be awsome!!!!!

  • You should check out some of his soundtracks, which are available in stores; one of my favourites is the soundtrack to The Elephant Man. He did music for a lot of Mel Brooks movies (the latter included, obviously) such as the old Producers, Blazing Saddles, and High Anxiety.

  • fantastic music and fantastic film...

  • My grandmother told me that, my mind was right. My soul is mad. The older I get, the more I understand as I look back. Thank You for posting. Will

  • I'm interested to see how Mel incorporates the theme into the Overture for YF The Musical

  • I actually just saw the musical this last Saturday - the theme (at least the main violin solo) was actually changed. We weren't too happy with that aspect, but the musical itself was great.

  • Bad News...he didnt! I just saw the premier in Seattle, No original theme from the movie!! I cant even believe it.

  • Very well done. Thanks for posting this haunting melody here for us.
