It's crazy how people will complain about the pricing. We baristas that work for Starbucks, truly understand the craziness it takes to harvest coffee. Take wine for example, you'll pay hundreds of dollars for it. All you're getting out of it is a drunk one night stand. Coffee has been through so much. Before you complain about pricing again, please learn about coffee's adventure to your cup:]
Such GOOD coffee, but so damned expensive!! About a month ago, I wanted to try something new, other than buying my usual Tim Hortons coffee in the morning, on my way to class, so I decided to stop into Starbucks. Ordered myself a large vanilla latte, with nutmeg and cinnamon, as a special treat. Went to pay for it.....6 FRIGGIN' DOLLARS. I paid for it, and walked out of there, thinking, "This had better be worth it." It def was. Wee bit too pricey for me, so I won't be going back in very often.
@babygiraffe123 I agree! Starbucks is the reason I started drinking coffee, amazing flavour, now i drink any kind of coffee, but starbucks is very overpriced, I know you pay for quality, but being a student and on minimum wage I cant really afford it now :/

@NinkaPanda Says who? where are you getting this information from? every privately owned coffee shop that I've been to clearly advertises that they support and use fair trade produce, I don't know how it is in New Zealand but over here in Australia most privately owned coffee houses are fair trade, its all about common sense and doing some research, also no offense, but Starbucks coffee tastes how i imagine ass-felt would.
@NinkaPanda Fair trade is not the way to go. It does not support the farmers as much as they should be. It only gets the farmers "fair" market value for their green, which often ends up being the lowest market price. What people should be focusing on is Direct Trade, where the roasters work directly with the farmers to determine the price. Easily said, Fairtrade = Starbucks and Van Houtte, Direct Trade = Intelligentsia or Stumptown. Pretty easy to see a difference.
I don't see how that would be obvious? I figure It should be obvious to go the other way, when you look at Quality coffee bars and how a lot of them stand for direct trade and against fair trade. And I really hope you don't try to say starbucks is quality.
