  • just ran my fastest ever on monday indoors, 4:32, then today ran an indoor 2:11 half mile

  • More lies...This kid can't even do the full mile without stopping.

  • No i run 5:05 this kid runs 5:57

  • Nah...I know lad1596...He's bullshitting you guys...He runs like a 6:30.

  • you found my comments!!!

  • @whitewashpanda you're right 3:43

  • Loll I run a 9 minute mile :)

  • I'm a sophomore and I could run 4:35 for now :p

  • mine is 4:47 and I'm 30 :) in high school it was 5:10, did XC for 2 years then fucked up and quit and skateboarded with my friends bad mistake but I'm still running..Never Stop

  • lad1596 is a liar

  • @WhiteWashPanda nah i know a sophomore who can do it in under 4:20

  • @Falconpunch82 Yeah man, as a Freshman I ran a 4:56

  • @Falconpunch82 Dallas Rushing from texas did it in 4:20 his sophmore year

  • @WhiteWashPanda Agreed

  • I'm a sophomore and run the 1600 with a 4:09

  • Form is horrible bro

  • @runnershigh3279 I actually just turned 14 and im in highschool so I train everyday which allows me to run that fast. It isn't even that fast though.

  • @tennisplayer1922, you know somehow I doubt that you're doing a 4:40 mile when you're 13, maybe a 1500 meter 4:40 but no way you're doing 4:40 miles when you're 13

  • Ik it's not that fast but it was really hilly

  • @jjcherry829 if u really think so look it up on the junior Olympics website I got 8th place in the regional 4k in queensbury,NY in 13:28 which is a 5:25 mile average

  • @TennisPlayer1922 Post a video! =D

  • 5:00 is pretty good but I'm 13 and I run like a 4:40 and I'm going to myrtle beach for the junior olympics nationals December 10th :-D

  • @TennisPlayer1922 I call bullshit

  • @TennisPlayer1922

I just want to say.... I was there too!

    Also in track don't the girls do a 1500, not a 1600?

  • @TennisPlayer1922 Cool were u in the youth race? I was there too and placed 241st, :( had a bad race so... but I guess u placed pretty high if you ran a 13:28. And yeah the course was pretty hilly. Did u beat ben veatch at nationals?

  • @TennisPlayer1922 haha I live in myrtle beach

  • @TennisPlayer1922 no one asked

  • you'd get faster if you worked on your form

  • @kozmon0t No sarcasam intended, how should someone have their form when running?

  • @sergizwtf It depends on the runner, but it's generally more efficient to land directly under your center of gravity. With shoes it's impossible to truly run naturally, but the "pose" method is probably the closest thing to it.

Heel-striking robs you of forward momentum by redirecting gravity's downward force backward. Momentum is helped by inertia - an object in motion tends to stay in motion.

You can hear the poster's footstrikes, there's a lot of energy in those impacts.

  • @sergizwtf in other words, the less there is pushing you backwards, the easier it is to keep going forwards.

  • good job i run from 6:25 to 8:10 (when im tired)

  • Wow I'm like slow, have no will, and no stamina! I'm 14- and never run...lol and I went for like a 5min jog and my legs felt like they...idk were running for hours! Like a floaty feeling, and I felt like I was gonna die XD haha I'm not fat, I'm only 105lbs- 5'3. I should really start getting in shape. nice job!

  • I'm 6'2, 202 lbs and run a 6:07 mile. I bench 205 8 times so I'm at least averagely strong. I'm trying to run sub 6 but I just can't loose the weight nor decrease time. Do you have any tips? The tip you gave to Geto sounds great for speed increasing (pace wise). I'm trying to figure out how to cut fat, gain strength and become faster....if you have any tips I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

  • im 11 and mine is 6:11

  • thats pretty good there. I just ran in a race yesturday and I ran a 5:04 mile. I just started running again in June and now I want to train for the Olympics....so..of course I have a long ways to go.

  • So far i can run 5:48 in the mile and I'm 15.

It's tricky trying to keep your lips wet and having saliva to keep you from choking.

My goal is to atleast get to a time of 5:10 or so.

  • i think you could of had it given you had someone who can run sub 5 pace you

  • I feel like a slow poke. I was happy with the 7:36 i ran 4 weeks ago til I came on here. It took me 9 months running 3 days a week to get down to 7:36 from somewhere in the 10's

  • Cool, My goal for summer is to do a 5 minute mile, I havent attempted anything under a 2 mile run, averaging 7 minutes per mile. So im gonna focus on speed rather than endurance.

  • i ran a 5 minute mile today

    stats- 5'9, 165

  • That looks more like a 1600 m run ( 4 x 400 m). A mile is slightly longer: around 1610 m

  • @EquuleusPictor If you actually open your eyes and look at the beginning of the video, you will see that he started his run way back from the finish line, at the mile start line. Oh, and BTW, a mile is 1609 metres, not 1610...

  • i tried a mile and half couldnt finish i had cramped up :( i didnt pass the test

  • Good hard run man. I am in the 6th grade, and my best 1600 time is 6:00. I ran it at sectionals, trying to go under 6. If I can, I'd like to go to state next year. I'll have to run a 5:15, and I would also like to run under five minutes in eighth grade.

  • @jgoffutt how shitty is your school that a 6:00 minute mile gets you to sectionals? pathetic....

  • You definitely started too fast

  • try narrowing those splits, for example run maybe a 74, 75, 75, 74

  • very nice dude, my fastest was 543 when i was in 8th grade, now i am in 11th grade trying to get it back, starting at 6min mile so hoping to shave more than a min off, any pointers have not trained in a long time?

  • Nicely done!

  • There's a kid at my school that AVERAGES a 4 minute mile

  • i did a 5:07 and i watned to break it soooooooo bad but i usually do the 2 mile so im happy

  • Good job I run a 440 right now but I have to run a 435 this weekend to male Arcadia lol

  • nice. i have a 5:32 mile time. im planning to break it, anybody got any tips breaking 5 minutes?

  • @xxHeadsh0t2392xx just really push on the third lap that's where people usually let down a little because they want to get ready to do the last lap really fast.

  • thats gotta suck being a second away but great job

  • Good job man!

I did a 5:11 mile like 6 months ago before winter. I got to work back up to that again. During winter I made bad choices on food and started to slack.

I wouldn't mind doing some sort of race/run this year. It would be my first, and I can't say the idea doesn't make me nervous. lol :)

ps. If I get some digital camera in the sometime near future. I will be happy to put up running videos as well. Also congrats on that half miler.

  • amazing run on your own well done!

  • would be impressed...if I didn't do 5x1600m at a 5:00 pace

  • i am at 640 right now and i need it down to 540, any advice, other than keep trying? like stuff i can do outside of actually running such as leg exercises or something along those lines.

  • well my best time is 5.50... Hopefully i'll get better...

  • @PianistSTeve2 mine is 5:51, i'm trying for 5:30 right now. however, i am dealing with a back spasm that hurts insanely bad and cant do cross country practice today. sucks.

  • I'm only 4 years old and I can run a mile in 4 minutes and I can't do 87 pushups and 42 pull ups with one hand and I don't even try jeez I'm so strong

  • @allensanchez1990 what did ur mommy feed u? ur strong!

  • freshman best mile time is 5:12 and thats with running a 800 meter sprint before and there was bad wind so i should brake 5 min. in 2 weeks

  • i ran the mile yesterday at a meet- my time was 5:ll.3, and i did my first lap in 68sec lol, but then i slowed down a lot

  • good job my best was 4:50 but in a freshman so im going to get faster

  • Who cares?

  • that so beats my fastest mile....lol

  • I barely broke 5 min. ran my fastest mile in 4:52 could have done better but time ran out.

  • lol im 13 and im going to run under 5 minutes this year i already got pace down!

  • Hey, how old were you when you did this? and how long did you train for, and what kind of training did you do? Sorry thats a lot of questions but I'm really trying to get better at running, and I'd appreciate if you responded =D

  • Hello Geto. I was 29 when I started running. I was running 6 minutes for a mile to begin with. Over 3 months specific speed training I got down to 5minutes and 1 second. I did intervals of 2 x 800m, and 4 x 400m, 4 x 200m. Try to keep each lap faster than your best mile pace. Give yourself a good rest in between intervals and try and reduce the rest when you get faster. Twice a week max for this training.

  • @biggussconnus you only did this training twice a week? what did you do on the other days?

  • @biggussconnus Ever tried to run 6 minute miles for an hour straight? I working on that now.

  • @biggussconnus hey man, whats your run time now? Btw I noticed you said you ran intervals, I started them recently and was just thinking how long rest should I take? I ran 6x400m's the first 4 in 1:20 and the last 2 in around 1:30.. I rest 1 minute but it doesn't feel enough.. although I did run them? Should I rest longer? thanks:)

  • @biggussconnus : thanks, i'll try that interval training. at 6:47 now and hope to break 6.

  • @biggussconnus

Good job, I need to try that. I run a 6 minute and 7 second mile with no training and bad cardio. I want to get down to 5 or the high 4's.

  • i got a 4:53.51 so i missed qualifying for my state meet by half a second. thats with a little less than two months of training so its not that bad for a highschool sophomore. at the state meet there were several kids who ran the two mile at a faster pace than my 1 mile though. took a hit on the ego

  • Is everyone in your state fat? Qualifying for state in Wisconsin is like...4:25

  • no, i just live in delaware. we were the first state but we are also the second smallest, so all schools in delaware go to states. there are no divisionals and regionals. our fastest miler was also our fastest cross country runner and two miler. he went 4:19, 19.19, and either high 14s or low fifteens in 5k. i know that most other states usually have guys that run like 4:10 in the mile in highschool though

  • in PA you have to get 4:31 to qualify

  • what is the provisional qualifying time? Because sometimes in Delaware has extra spots open because not enough people ran the qualifying time. And yes, PA is WAY faster than Delaware. Do you know why that is?

  • Yesterday was my first time breaking 5 during a mile time trial for cross country. My splits were 73, 76, 78, and I came back strong with a 72. Good luck.

  • i wanna get a 5 min mile iam in 4th grade and i got 6;25

  • @bluh1000 lollollol good trolling young man

  • im a freshman and at a manhattan 1.25 mile course, i ran a 6:21, which is a 5:04 pace. i havent tried to break 5 in a mile, but my coach said out mile splits are 10 seconds faster than that pace. ill write another comment after i ran a mile.

  • im 13 and run a 5:35

  • my best is 5:48 at practice

  • I ran this 3 months after I started running. I have now ran 4minutes 29 for 1500m. I hope to get down to around 4min 10 next year on track. Steve Cram ran 3 minutes 40 when he was 17 so I'm not going to set the world on fire.

  • i'm running a 4:48 right now but the thing is when i was running that pace it wasn't breaking 5 that was the problem. it was consistently staying under ;)

  • nice man, great accomplishment!

  • my best is 5:00.7 so i'm almost there

  • my best is 5:58, getting there

  • i can run like a 7 min, my dad says if i can break 5, he'll give me a jet ski!!! i'm gonna try it this summer

  • instead of telling your times, make a video of it.

  • that is really good m8. i'm 23 and i only run 7min mile. I'm working at it though.

  • ya little kids can run easy duh

  • I ran a 4:56 as a sophmore. It was the only year i ran track. My father was one of the fastest runners in Connecticut in the mid 1960's (highschool level). He used to run around 4:40 which placed him 2nd in the state. Today that wouldn't place him anywhere near that high. But he smoked a pack of cigarettes a day then :)

  • That was a pretty good run, I run a 5:02 and i'm trying to break 5. My last meet is tomorrow and i'm a little pressured by my coach to break it.

  • you better break it.

  • Comment removed

  • at my freshman meet i am hoping to beat matt tebos fresman time of 4:43

  • I agree. Breaking 5 minutes is quite tricky. I have ran a 4 minutes 56 mile, but not in a race. I hope to get a further advantage from entering a mile race. I have been concentrating on longer races which has been more productive

  • 4:45 is my best. i hope to go sub 4:40 this year along with a 2:01 800m

  • I ran a 4:54 yesterday. Thats my best time.

  • My fastest is a 4:52. It's hard to break the 5 minute barrier.

  • nice work....trying to reach 5 minute mile also running a 517 right now but almost there good work though

  • That was very impressive. I wish I could do that lol. My fastest mile time was 8:06.

  • trying to break the 5 flat barrier is one of the most frustrating things i have ever done. i swear, there have been about 3 or 4 races where i SWORE i had it but couldn't quite get it.

  • its pretty hard to actually aim for a fast time like this on your own.

I think that when you have other people racing then u have people pushing you to try harder so that maybe u would break the 5

  • Ah, so 5:01? Wow, what a difference sprinting that last lap can make. I guess I better give it my ALL Tuesday to get it.

  • dude! nice! i ran a 5:02 this past thursday! i thought i was going to break 5 for sure but oh so close :[ very nice though!

  • Wow........I finally broke 6 minute mile recently....5 minutes is tough. Way to go

  • MY BEST IS 9:45. ROFL

  • Good time on the 3rd lap!

  • There was a senior in my neighboring high school who ran a 4:10 mile last year o_O. Good thing he went to college, it was embarrasing getting lapped by him in races LOL

  • Thanks I'm 30.

  • Ha ha, sorry dude..I thought you were a kid.KInda look like it from far away XD

  • That kid is pretty fast.

  • That's really good. I have a friend who went to my middle school who actually broke the world record for his age group. I think he ran a mile in under 5 minutes.

  • lol world record

    you mean school record

a guy in a school near me runs a 4:30 something so I doubt your friend broke the world record.

  • the world reccord is 3:43 i dont think a junior high kid could even get near that

  • Well I know a high school guy named Fernandez got 4 flat as a senior. But the faster it is, the harder it is to shave even a second off, so 17 secs is a lot to go.

  • a freshman at my school is at his 4:20s.

in 8th grade he was at 4:40s

    :O

    olympian much?

  • Yeha I know this comment is real old but you DO know the high school record for the mile is 3:51 right? By Alan Webb

  • thats impressive to be able to run that fast on your own, you could do a 4.55 easy with some competition

  • Thats very good only 58 seconds faster than my best.
