@tjoepkevandefles No it's not, either you use proper Hepburn transcription which is sayōnara, or Kurein which is sayônara. But most of the time people will be happy with the wapuro sayounara which precisely transcribe さようなら (have you noticed the kana う ?).

Now it's acceptable to drop the macron in words existing in western dictionaries for a long time like Tokyo (which should be Tōkyō), but AFAIK sayonara is not an existing word referenced in the English dictionary.
