Frank doing what he did, the greatest..... This song tho, was done by Don Ho and his protege Robin Wilson live at the Grove in LA in the late 60's. They were magnificent.
Sadly, I never saw Frank live. I am old enough to remember him and the bobby soxers but it was not until "Songs for Swinging Lovers", in my view the best album by anyone ever, that I got to hear him at his best. Great songs. brilliant arrangements by Nelson Riddle and the wonderful band showcasing that amazing voice and timing, I did see "Ol Blue Eyes is Back" recently, with a live band and dancers and Sinatra's voice and superimposed image. It was enjoyable. This is a great concert. Thanks
What now my love? now that you left me How can I live, live through another day? Watching my dreams turned to ashes And my hopes turning to bits of clay Once I could see, once I could feel Now I am numb, I’ve become unreal I walk the night, without a goal Stripped off my heart, my soul
I was holding my daughter. Frank was being "rushed" inside before a crowd could gather, but he did throw out a few "hellos" and smiled and waved at my kid and nodded to me.
My daughter is 23 now, but when she's an old lady... she'll be able to tell her great grandchildren about the time she and her dad saw Frank Sinatra together - live at Radio City Music Hall.
BTW, the kid loved Don Rickles, who opened for Frank. Didn't "get" all the jokes, but feed off the laughter!
I didn't exactly "meet" Frank, but I caught his eye and got a nod!
It was April of '94 and I had scored two tickets to see Frank at Radio City.
Me... and my six year old daughter... saw Frank live - 9th row center!
The "nod" though came prior to the concert itself when my daughter and I were killing time walking around the theatre. We happened to be at a side door just as Frank's limo pulled up.
Frank got out - the family was with him - and we were there... maybe 10 feet away.
Here is the story on how i meant him, i took my father to see him nov 21 1991 at the sands in ac, after the show my father and i went to get dinner we were the only ones in there, when mr sinatra came in the manager said we had to leave. mr sinatra would have no part of that. he told the manager of the resturant in the casino we could stay. we wound up haveing dinner with him. then we stayed with him for 4 hours. we were just 2 people who saw his show and its a nite that i will never ever forget
Elvis's version rocks. King remastered the song.
