  • did not read all the posts but mite be a stuck egr it will make it go rich like that take a hand vacume pump like they sell at vip draw vacume with the pump and release a few times then new plugs if it works

  • @king9968 Thanks, I have the engine out and I'll make sure I check the EGR, thanks!

  • Injector junk

  • I have a 2000 s10 blazer with the 4.3, it just started making the weird noise when I crank it, the loud noise. The check engine light is not on. Did you find out what the problem was?

Please reply if you found the cause of that rattle.

  • @themadmek01 There was 2 noises, the rattle was just a loose muffler clamp, the knock, I believe was the torque converter. I have the engine out and all the bottom bearings are good but the truck suddenly wouldn't move. (converters will make a pounding sound before they go and usually go suddenly) I don't have it back together yet to know for sure but I am replacing the torque converter.

  • @MudRFunR Thank you for the info, One thing I remember form the one I had with an engine like that one, the injectors did at one time stop up with carbon, I used carburetor cleaner, and a nylon brush to clean them up, then I did the same thing with the intake butterfly, make sure the seat is clean, On the front where it initially goes down as you open the throttle, that has a tendency to build up gunk also. Keeping those clean will also increase your MPG.

  • @themadmek01 Not too worried about gas mileage now. Just last night we decided that this is going to be my wife's mud truck. Gettin it ready in the spring!

  • @themadmek01 P.S. thanks for the info, I will check the injectors and throttle body.

  • sounds like a loose timing chain, or leaky fuel injector

  • Take a look at the cats and a wild card but maybe a crack or something in the head gasket

  • @TheZr299 Thanks, I have the engine out right now so I'll be checking the gaskets.

  • sound like an o2 scensor. check your catlic converter.a major tune up will not hurt 2 all

good luck 2 u i have a 1995 . and it did the same . i went thrugh it toughly and found some loose vacume hoses and a bad o2

  • @larry8315 Thanks but I have, since this video, pulled the engine.

  • nice truck! i definitely miss my 4.3 sonoma it was awesome

  • could be the temperature sending unit

  • @jdfanman Thanks, I've got the engine out at the moment but I'll keep that in mind when I get it fired up again.

  • no, the first year they had the 4.3 was 88.

  • @tlandoe Yes they did make a 4.3L in 88 but the Vortec 4.3L was first used in the S10 in 1994.

  • @MudRFunR dude, the Vortec 4300 was used even before the S10. Now if you're talking about the CPI 4.3 Vortec L35 RPO code, then that started in 1992: two years before your s10. And yours is throttle body injected, which was used on GM cars since like 1985.

  • @tlandoe You are so right! I researched a little and found that the Vortec 4.3L was used in the S10 starting from 1988. but they did modify it in 1994. Thanks for your info...appreciate it!

  • @MudRFunR interestingly, second generation s10s, sonomas, blazers, and jimmies occasionally had a down-powered vortec: a CPI 4.3 vortec in 1994 in a Blazer had 200hp. the later ones had 180.

  • you might want to have the air/fuel mixture changed at your local dealer ship

  • @1819cyberdude It's been a while since I posted this. At the moment it has no engine or tranny. Thanks anyway!

  • hey hope everything works out for you on your truck but umm how much lift does that thing have cuz im lifting mine and i like the amount u have on your truck.

  • @CARGUY514 Right now the engine and tranny are out. The truck has a 3 inch body lift.

  • id fix that crank sensor it plays a role on how the tbi injects . the 02 sensors os prolly just not likeing all the extra fuel

  • Well I've come to the conclusion that the engine is shot. I have another 4.3L to put in. After I filmed this I tried to pull my neighbour out of the snow and I blew the tranny. So it's all coming out anyway. That should solve everything. Thanks for the info.

  • iv had problems with the egr valve and the pvc system on these motors .

sounds likes its miss firing any service engine lights ?

  • Yes the Check Engine light is on. I got some codes out of it a while back and got an O2 sensor and Crank position code.

  • and my 305 did the same thing you may want to look in to a new motor

  • It does have a knock and the engine is coming out. I have 96 4.3L definately Vortec that I'm putting in if I can get all the computer hook ups figured out or if the intake fits from the original I may stick with throttle body injection. Any suggestions?

  • sell it to me lol no jokeing i dont have what its worth hahahaha stay with the vortec injection its way better

  • thats a nice truck but its not a vortec

  • Why do you say that it's not a Vortec? It has Vortec valve covers on it. Do you think someone has swapped the covers?

  • vortecs dont have that air cleener on them

  • I googled 95 S10 and they did come out with a Vortec S10 in 1995 but this is not one of them! You are right! The VIN # should have a W if it's a Vortec and mine doesn't have a W.

  • if its not a vortec then a vortec wont work in it

  • Could I just swap the intakes and use the throttle body on the Vortec?

  • no its the heads thet make it a vortec

  • So the 95 intake won't bolt to the 96 Vortec?

  • it will bolt up but the vortecs are multi port fuel injection

  • @truckguy454ss they're multi-port i believe from 02 and up, 92-01 are central port injection, similar but not exactly the same, this 95 is central port but has a different intake since it doesn't have Vortec heads, he'd need a 96-01 intake to swap on Vortec heads, i'm looking to put Vortec heads on my TBI 305 in my 95 Sierra, i need to find an intake adapter

  • @snakesonaplane2 the heads and block are the same all thay did on the vortec is a roller cam and the intake manifold so all you need is the intake but thats not going to give you anymore HP

  • @truckguy454ss so the 94-95's have vortec heads just not a roller cam?

  • @snakesonaplane2 no 94-95 have the roller cam and the vortec intake 96-98 thay did the heads

  • @truckguy454ss oh ok i see, not too familiar with S10's and the small Blazer's, your truck looks familiar are you a member of FSC? i'm SierraDan on there

  • @snakesonaplane2 lol i dont know i might be what is fsc?

  • @truckguy454ss fullsizechevy (dot) com, i just tried typing it like the url but it says error when i try to post the comment

  • @snakesonaplane2 i will be part of it soon lol

  • @truckguy454ss haha right on, best forum for Chevy/GMC pickups and Tahoes, Suburbans, K5 Blazers or whatever, tons of OBS guys (old body style, 88-98)

  • hey really sounds like a missfire. plugs, wires, cap. nice truck. ive worked on many motors try it.

    Good luck

  • could be the injectors but it might be the fuel pressure regulator. Also when you drive does your car stall out or have you tried to drive it since the car has started to get this way? If you take it in a mechanic will always say it's the injectors usually. I think that would be a more expensive job.

  • I have never had it on the road. Just bought it. The engine is coming out and I'll look into it then. Thanks

  • i would pull out the engine

  • Just waiting for better weather, Thanks for commenting!

  • so do you have any new news on that s10 what was the probleme???

  • Not sure but I will be pulling out the engine because of the bottom end knock.

  • check your valves and your pistons

  • Thank you, I'm beginning to think that it's an internal problem. The valves definately tick when I first start it.

  • did he die?

  • Mine did almost the same thing, i had to change my plugs, also i changed my oil, and feul filter, mine is fine now! i dont think mine smoked black though!, that sucks man, although the truck looks nice and in good condigion except that problem.

  • water temp sensor most likely

    could be spark plugs to

    air filter, injectors
