wow what are the odds that ANYTHING moving like that could get that close to the Earth in such a vast emptiness. That's like blindly shooting a gun into the air and hitting a fly a million miles away.
@BMFstudiosNYC Your right in that sense, but there are thousands of asteroids. So the chances of an asteroid hitting us is more common. Also, you need to bear in mind that the last asteroid was hundreds of millions years ago; so space has been failing to hit us for a while. It's bound to strike again.
@bostonredhead Any 390m wide rock, traveling past Earth at an estimated distance of 18,300 miles in my opinion is close enough to bring attention to and study.
I've looked into this Asteroid in as much detail as I could and I'm nearly 100% convinced that It will NOT hit us at this time but we should keep a watchful eye on it and educate people of the dangers.
I believe technology should be developed, tested and deployed as a safeguard against asteroid threats.
Till 2029 they will find something to turn its orbit somewhere else....nothing to worry about...

Exciting. I wonder how well we'll be able to see it, if at all.

Nasa says that it will be 18,300 miles from Earth.
Would you say that is close? Much?
