I wanted to see if I could design and build an electric sofa-bed from scratch. The answer was "Yes I could". Also I get a kick every time I operate it.
@SamInTheHills Welp in that sense you did a nice job. Maybe consider making it or a version to be the most eco/green/safe/sturdy as possible :) just my thoughts on "design".
why not make it manual powered...? less parts to break, no battery drain, no scary texas chainsaw / dental nightmares...

Good idea but MUCH TOO SLOW and the weight and battery recharging is not worth the trouble IMO.

If the batteries were just for the sofa-bed I'd have to agree with you but they are part of the electrical system for the whole RV part of the van.

I applaude the effort, but alot of trouble for a slow bed, run 3 batts and get her cranking!!
