  • aww crud I thought mypocketxp was a bootable usb drive like BartPE...

  • Is that a genuine copy or are you selling this illegally?

  • it needs vmware ? so its not a USB bootable xp. damn it.

  • Mah pockit xpee

  • from where can i download this?? pls help

  • Can this work in virtualbox??

  • Well this does nothing different then VMWare, the main problem with all of these VMs is they REQUIRE the install of VMplayer or other base software to run. If you do not have admin install rights or they are not preinstalled its useless.

  • I've already installed MS VIrtual pc and created a xp vm, complete with additions!

Now to copy to my external hd and watch the magic begin!

  • @kbhasikevin Great. If you want to drag a HDD around rather than a flash drive. Also ... does it allow for a 'clean start' of the OS every time you boot.

  • @mypocketxp oops... haven't thought about that.

By the way, can I start mypocketxp on a pc that has company restrictions?

  • @kbhasikevin Yes, if VirtualPC or VMware are already installed.

  • well, at least they know how to modify the boot logo in ntoskrnl.

  • Interesting way of doing it. But completely useless. Get a job.

  • @vbpeepee Interesting comment ... but completely useless

  • @mypocketxp Ha ha ha good one. What are you? 12? Do something useful instead of posting pointless videos on youtube. Fucking beginner.

  • GAY! Not true boot up loading. Try Flash OS bitches

  • Don't do this. You can easily install XP on VBOX, and copy the VDI to a stick. There you go! The better version of MyPocketCrapXP!

  • How is the performance running xp from a vdi on a memory stick? Try it out and compare against MyPocketXP and then make an intelligent comment.

  • REASON: Anyone can do this. A normal XP installation on VPC/VirtualBox would be able to do all of what is on this. Most people today have a PC XP restore disk, or the XP cd themselves.

  • MyPocketXP's performance is way better than that of an XP installation running from a vhd/vdi/vmdk on a USB drive. If you try the latter you will notice that it is slow to the point where it is not suitable for productive use. MyPocketXP uses the file system of the host which makes it perform much better and suited for productive use. Try what you suggested, install MS Office and see if you can bring up MS Word or any other apps as quickly as you see it in the video.

  • Another reason: I am not stupid enough to buy this Sandisk Cruzer and compare to something that I can do in 5 minutes, just installing XP in VPC.

  • There is absolutely no reason to ever buy this. VirtualBox is a freely downloadable virtual machine program just like MS Virtual PC or VMWare. It runs on Linux, Apple, and Windows. You can export any installed OS to any drive you want (all data and all settings). And then import that same virtual machine onto any other virtualbox installation and it will run right off the drive. Easy as pie! Don't waste your money!

  • So how long does it take to 'import' a virtual machine from a USB drive every time before you can even get started?

  • I purchased MyPocketXP recently and love it. I received a legal copy of MS XP - no MS license issues. The whole desktop starts up on my Vista machine and Windows XP machine in l a minute or two. I move complete files and apps off my desktop (Office) to my MyPocketXP in seconds and use any machine I chose. Its the most convenient, easy to use product in a long time. Faster than my desktop! Always have right config to run my apps! Love it!

  • can you plug this to a mac and will it work?

  • Mac support is targeted for Q1 2010

  • Just install virtualbox, this is a joke. It only works for machines that have Windows. Lame!

  • so if I already have XP and a sandisk cruzer I still have to pay $180 that is garbage. Also kind of stupid...I'll stick with Linux.

  • Yeah commercial software is for people that don't know any better. Linxu and Virtualbox for the win! This is really $180 holy shit!

  • So he's charging 180 bucks for a 8gig flash drive with xp installed on a virtual machine on it? I could buy a flash drive for 15 bucks and do this myself.

  • Except it uses technologies so it runs nearly as fast as the host computer does. Running XP from any old flash drive would be super slow. Not only that, it uses certain methods so viruses don't survive a reboot.

  • Sounds like bullshit to me. I doubt he has access to "technologies" like "super flash drives" that the rest of the world does not. And "certain methods so viruses don't survive a reboot." Also sounds like bullshit to me. Are you saying it doesn't save any data after a reboot? Because that's the only way what you just said can be true.

  • It uses the hard disk when you plug it in (I think) to make it much faster then using the flash drive, and yes, when you reboot you get an option save all personal files and to save all changes to the system.

  • "(I think)"

You're wrong. It uses the flash drive.

As for the option to save personal files, that is part of the virtual machine program I can get for free.

  • Bobertoq gets it ... it uses the hosts system's drive and caching ... writing directly to the stick is dead slow and will make the memory stick wear out as the OS hammers the stick with write ops. System and user data are separated and once apps are installed there is no need to write back system changes to the stick. If you discard system changes, viruses don't survive a reboot. And BTW ... the price includes a valid XP license.

  • i'd like to see a vid on that> :)

  • You should try it - it has a satisfaction warranty.

  • Can you boot to XP from this flash drive in order to recover files from a failed boot?

  • what does the USB drive look like?

  • its a sandisk cruzer micro.. or a sandisk cruzer contour..

  • does it haze the MyPocketXP logo on it?

  • I think it has one on the back.

  • yes ... sandisk cruzer contour or micro. You can see it on the web site

  • What program are you using to record your desktop while you are making a video?

  • Jing Pro

  • When downloading a large file, 2 gigs, for instance, this will be put into your C drive, correct? If you use MPXP to download a program, off the net, say, VLC media player, or IESpell, will this be loaded to MPXP, your original system or both?

I'm not completely computer literate so please excuse if these questions are dumb. :O)

  • What you download into MyPocketXP will not be loaded onto the original system. You can copy files between MyPocketXP and the hosts system through drag-and-drop when you select the the File Copy menu item

  • Hey, just a message to MPXP, That wasn't the BIOS screen, that was the POST...

  • Is there any way to put recording software on the mypocketxp?

  • MyPocketXP has speaker and microphone support so that should work.

  • Can you run games? How does running 2 copies of windows affect your system performance, what are the extended minimum requirements?

  • You can run games but the graphics card emulated by Virtual PC/VMware (which MyPocketXP uses) is not really 'state of the art'. Performance of the guest system is pretty close to native due to a special virtual machine configuration. Regarding system requirements ... memory is the biggest factor. Minimum should be 512MB. Host systems supported are XP and Vista (all editions). Windows 7 will be supported shortly.

  • How many free space does it have?

  • 3.9 GB for XP and applications, 3GB for data. XP is about 800MB so there is 3GB for applications. On my MyPocketXP I run MS Office standard, MS Project, Acrobat Reader, Lotus Organizer, Cygwin, VPN client, Songbird ... I was actually quite surprised to see how much fits on the drive
