About a decade ago I went thru and salvaged stuff from all my old cassettes (stuff w/ 'my' band, bits done in various altered states etc etc); all on cheap tapes, Scotch 'highlander', extra cheap Certron tapes etc. Some was at least 25 yrs old... aside from EQ-ing the hiss that came from being recorded on cheap non-Dolby recorders I didn't have too much trouble. Seems strange to me that a good deal of their old tapes would be in such a bad condition. 1 type of pressure pad ages badly.

High pitch screeching sound? Correct me if I'm wrong but... in my experience that comes from the cassette shell! Change out the tape, put it in a newer, high grade shell. Bit of a pain... But well worth the trouble to save some classic Genesis.

(If you only knew some of the low grade trash I saved for obscure prosperity by doing such... Genesis tuning up would have more value)

What I wanna know is how Geoff Callingham has managed to reach 60 years old and looks the same as he did 40 / 45 years ago when we used to hang out in Balham, going to Who concerts, doing disco's and listening to him practice his bass playing. Come on Geoff, what's the secret?
