  • Thank you Rinpoche for your excellent

and profound teachings. I pray that

Rinpoche may continue to have a

good and healthy life so that Rinpoche

may be able to continue to spread the dharma for the sake of all sentient beings.

  • Everyone wants to have long life - so doing dharma work will extend one's life.

  • I am grateful for such profound teachings Rinpoche - please do not stop giving teachings because many many people need them.

  • I think the practice of extending our life has taken a back seat for most people in Buddhism simply because they think they will live for a long time and have plenty of chances to practice the Dharma. However, habits gets stronger and our attachments keep adding up while our merits will run eventually run out and sometimes faster than we think. Look at Michael Jackson, his merit run out...

  • Thats a nice meaning but, to live long means we have to have a happy beautiful body or life kind of is hell, the people who are content seem to be the ones with beautifull bodies, if one has beauty then one attracts everything one needs easly otherwise having an unattractice body means one just attracts hell constantly right

  • I guess all of us will have to engage in one or another way to extend life. Whether it is to release animals or support institutions that heal people etc... I guess the best way would be to do our Dharma work or to become a pure and real monk and nun.

  • HE Tsem Tulku Rinpoche said that the best puja is doing real Dharma work and the best way to extend life is becoming ordained as a Sangha member. How auspicious way to end one's life and prepare for the next.

  • Long life practices are under-rated practices and we really need to focus on them because we need to maximize the spiritual life we can do in this life.

  • I believe the sole cause for the Long Life of our Lama is by us keeping our Samaya! We hold our commitments or we take up more commitments in the organization. In extending Rinpoche's life, we extend our own because we are doing Dharma work.

  • Kechara Oasis has many other patrons who are Indians and Malays who like the taste of vegetarian food cooked in varieties of ways. The Mango Pudding was our favorite.

  • I bet Rinpoche can extend his life by doing his meditations. His illustrious line of Lamas have the capability to do this and I am sure they passed the lineage to him as he has pure guru devotion.

  • Rinpoche, Thank you for explaining that when one take Ordination, it instantly changes one's karma. Please explains more on this topic again in the future. How does taking ordination can change one's karma.

  • The three main Long Life practices are Namgyalma, Amitayus and White Tara. Each have its own Sadhana and equally powerful to prolonged one's life.

  • Wow! What a concise and practical advice to extend my life. This teaching will come in handy to help my parents. I will have a reason to go vegetarian too...well...try a little at a time. If it wasn't for Tsemtulku(dot)com, I wouldn't even consider being vegetarian!

  • Well said skyjuice, I have this feeling too all the time! But I thought sometimes its just so hard to change and its part of your daily life eating me already oh god

  • Well, this video has actually impressed me and inspired me to the fact that I eat lesser and lesser meat nowadays, each time when I am eating one will make me think about the sufferings of the animals that will have to die for our tummy satisfaction.

  • I must share this with all my friends. I'm sure they'd like their parents to extend their lives! What a simple and meaningful clip!

  • Which is to extend ones life. Cheeky hehe

  • I also want to go to KSK week in week out to give food or at least sponsor some cooked food with a good motivation! 

  • It is very disappointing that many do not see the benefits of being vegetarian, or to stop killing or taking life or encouraging such negative acts. The result is shorter life spans riddled with hard to cure diseases and health problems. I hope things will change for the better, and that teachings of great masters such as Rinpoche will become more pervasive.

  • Rinpoche is so compassionate, giving simple & effective methods to increase ones life but how many of us can be committed to incorporate them into our lifes!

  • Wow, so many ways for us to extend our own life, and yet collect merits. What i found out is, by practising dharma, not only extend our life, it also extend our guru life and also be connected life after life ....very beneficial.....

  • So true, tenzintrinlay, living one's life benifiting others. This should be the correct way to work instead of thinking on oneself

Even by the time of death, we would feel happy as there are so many people that we have helped or fed or making it covinience for people.

The best part is, the bonus we get in helping others is a long life, isnt this great?

  • Very good explanation from Rinpoche, in fact, all those methods we can apply in our daily life, and yet we get to extend our life.....Well, Thanks Rinpoche, i know you want us to practise Dharma, holding our vows and have a compassion heart to everyone.......Thanks for posting this precious teaching here....

  • Its very amazing to know from this teaching that there are many options of ways for us to extend our life. And those ways are that simple to accomplish with serious commitment. Some more those are merely requires understanding to do wholeheartedly. Short video but full meaning indeed.

  • What I remember from this short talk is that every example of cause for a long life given by HETT Rinpoche is of an action directed towards benifiting others.

  • OMG! What precious information.

How to create causes for long life. Everyone must know!!!!

    - Continuously feed and give food others

    - Make offerings so that we can be of benefit and to spread Dharma to others

    - Making roads

    - Helping hospital and places that help long life

    - Meditation and practice of any of the long life deities

    - Taking ordination - most powerful, instantly changes one's karma

For serious Dharma practitioners, long life is needed to complete your practice

  • Thank you for publishing a list like that! You know, just looking at it, you can see all of the different ways that we can help support Rinpoche and dharma. If we cannot pray in Kechara House for whatever reason, we can feed the homeless with Kechara Soup Kitchen or help to serve diners at Kechara Oasis. If we cannot help in hospitals because we have no medical knowledge, we can donate to places like Gaden Shartse Hospital.

  • And at the end of it all, even when we're at death's door, dharma and Rinpoche are so kind as to offer us a way to change our karma, by taking ordination.

    Wonderful!

  • I agree with you DrolmaGirl, I wanna live another 80 years! I'm gonna start my practice right away! it is true what Rinpoche says.

I think even if we practice dharma, there are like so many hours are wasted in traffic, work and Dinners, and There are so many negative Kharma that we need to purify due to collection of aeons of negative kharma..

  • secret revealing teaching! Interesting 

  • This video is interesting, by doing dharma work actually prolongs ones life. I think because the fact that we are actually benefiting many other beings that it creates the cause of long life.

  • WOOOOW!!!

  • Wonderful methods!!! Thank you very much!

  • I bought a video from Amazon "While I still Can". Tsemtulku spoke about death, and our subtle and gross mind. Thank you Lama for this wonderful video. When are you coming to the States?

  • Wow the many methods that a skillful lama can share with us about extending one's life. In the Lam Rim ignorance and short life is the main obstacle to dharma practice.

  • May the lama extend his life for the benefit of the many!

  • ah. this is so refreshing compared to doing long life prayers blindly. Thank you Rinpoche

  • Wow, very powerful yet simple methods for extending one's life! And applicable to everyone both young and old. I never realised taking ordination was such a powerful way to extend one's life, EVEN IF YOU ARE DYING!!!!

Does is it as meritorious since the motivation is to increase your life?

  • Ordination is good for young healthy people too, not just dying people. Right? I'm kind of confused right now... cuz I don't see many young ordained people, and then he said that.

  • Its definitely good for the young un's too.

Its a cultural thing, that people don't send their kids off for ordination. In Tibet its different tho. Thailand too. In these Buddhist countries, families give their children to the monasteries, its considered an honour and very meritorious.

  • What about young people that seek ordination on their own, without their parents forcing them to do it?

  • ordination is good for everyone. in fact, the most merit you can collect is by being an ordained member of the sangha, holding your vows well. Even while sleeping you collect merit

  • :) sounds good to me, i like sleeping

  • What?
