I dont know why, but at around 3:02 when the ominouse coal train with the gattling gun was pulling up, I pictured Imperial Russia... with two would-be assassins stowing away on the train, about to murder the Tsar. Imagine what a fucking awesome movie that would be. You can twist the facts as much as you please, as long as you create a dark ambience with the lighting and Hans Zimmer composes the soundtrack. :D
I can't wait for you to put up the expanded score when you get the DVD. That rhtyhmic scharzo from 2:49 and onwards had so many great variations in the movie; it's just a shame that we don't have it in the soundtrack.
While I was watching the movie, and the music started. I was like, "0_0 MOMMY THAT WAS SO COOL!!!!!!!!!" Then everyone just looked at me like a freak. I'm sorta obsessed with mysterious music :/
Yeah, you're right, I noticed it after I posted. No, not quite major. I think Zimmer might actually be shifting between different modes. Mixolydian, Dorian, Locrian. And Melodic Minor. It's amazing how he actually made a scale into a motif!
If there's one thing I love about Hans Zimmer, every movie he orchestrates has an amazing theme for the villain - Professor Moriarty, Lord Blackwood, The Joker in TDK, Blackbeard and Davy Jones in POTC... all amazing leitmotifs...
@MrWatson193 agreed 100 percent.. hans zimmers' music is good for nearly everything he is trying to portray it for (pirates, sherlock holmes, call of duty, inception)
As usual, Hans Zimmer never ceases to amaze me. It's cool that something so trivial as a major scale could contribute to the mass amount of chaos that ensues towards the end of the track.
@MagicGuru88 I noticed that in the theatre and made everyone think I'm a music nerd (I am a music nerd, I just made it publicaly known to everyone there lol)
Zimmer's music seriously gets better every movie.

You know what is an impossibility? Listening to this at too loud a volume. Or rather, loud ENOUGH a volume.

The scale is brilliant but there is a minor third so not quite a major scale. I think its the major seventh which really portrays chaos though.

The start of the track is the same as the music in Hangover the taser scene with the fat kid. I always thought the music in that scene was well done.
