He has a great deal of energy and stamina, which looks amazing to people who haven't seen extremely technical/progressive drumming. So, I like the video, hate the band, and therefore abstained from voting.

It is good, far better than I expected from a member of such a mediocre act. However, it is nowhere near the best. Look up drummers like Mike Mangini, Derek Roddy, Navene Koperweiss, Marco Minneman, even stuff like Gene Krupa and Billy Cobham. All much better. This is really just random beats over flashy double kicks.

@TheDarkFrontier You are generlly right. But, when you watch pro drummers in "bullshit" bands (not my term, but widely used) the drummers are the best musician in the band. That happens for a reason. No one cares about them but they make or break the band. So yes, it takes quite a bit of technical talent. If it didn't I would be on tour, not playing local gigs every week.

Yeah, I do see what you mean and why people tie those accolades to certain people because of their status. I agree with what you say about Dan though, he is a very underrated drummer, and should be playing for a band on the calibre of something like Dream Theatre. He grew up playing Neil Peart and his drums are quite progressive, so imo he would suit that genre a bit better. He's definately the best musician in Nickelback.

I am not a fan of either Nickelback or 3 Doors Down. But I found this solo more musical and more entertaining that many solos on YouTube by the more highly touted drummers...some of them big stars of jazz and fusion. For the most part he found some groves...and he laid down patterns that are easier to listen to....

Keith Moon- great in his day - original, but nothing that can't be duplicated today. Each successive generation builds on the previous. Keith Moon is one of my faves, but he isn't an "almighty" of drumming. Same for Bonham, although Peart still impresses me.
