Every song Gambino creates has a different sound. More potential for a wide market of listeners. He is brilliant, there is doubting that, just look at his resume. The bottom line is this, he makes great music, even if he doesn't rap about what you may want him to, he makes great, complete, music.
Okay I'm just gonna put this out there to stop all the comparisons. Lil B is better than NO ONE. I don't even listen to Wolf Gang but I know Tyler and Earl would murder him. He's garbage. Like I said, he's better than no one especially ESPECIALLY not Gambino. Donald would wipe the floor with his no-talent-having ass. If you just give me 'Not Going Back', 'Break', and his verse from 'Rolling in the Deep' I GUARANTEE they'll top anything Lil B has ever released.
@MarchingMac04 I mean, when Lil B does his "cooking" videos (which is what I assume you're making the comparison of) he doesn't go for lyrical mastery, he goes for hype and fun, while Glover tries to actually write good lyrics, so the comparison is kind of silly. I wouldn't say either of them are deep whatsoever, and when CG tries it's kind of forced. And there isn't really a correlation between subject matter and being good. Curren$y and Danny Brown rap about weed/drugs mostly (though the latter can make a connection to addiction) and both of them are way better as a whole than half of the shitty Rhymesayers label "conscious" rappers.

And Curren$y is just a chill dude, its hard not to like him, plus he tells stories once in a while, that gives him some depth in my eyes. And I'm not saying that just because a rapper is "conscious" he's better but if I had to choose between a good rapper who doesn't rap about anything important and a good rapper who can do that and rap about stuff that matters I'd pick the latter.

Danny Brown is cool, he has this cartoonish/demented rapping voice over atmospheric beats, and he's coming out with an EP with Black Milk in November so I'm excited for that. I really like Big L and The Pharcyde in terms of old school, and I'm pumped for the new Drake. You?

Every song Gambino creates has a different sound. More potential for a wide market of listeners. He is brilliant, there is doubting that, just look at his resume. The bottom line is this, he makes great music, even if he doesn't rap about what you may want him to, he makes great, complete, music.

Okay I'm just gonna put this out there to stop all the comparisons. Lil B is better than NO ONE. I don't even listen to Wolf Gang but I know Tyler and Earl would murder him. He's garbage. Like I said, he's better than no one especially ESPECIALLY not Gambino. Donald would wipe the floor with his no-talent-having ass. @MarchingMac04 I mean, when Lil B does his "cooking" videos (which is what I assume you're making the comparison of) he doesn't go for lyrical mastery, he goes for hype and fun, while Glover tries to actually write good lyrics, so the comparison is kind of silly. I do think that Lil B's lyrics to the songs he actually tries on are better than Gambino's, though.

It relies on punchlines, braggadocio and pop culture references. Saying you think Childish Gambino is a great emcee but that Lil Wayne is bad proves that you get your taste from what other people tell you is good and bad rap on Youtube, and that you genuinely know nothing of hip-hop.

I think that Childish Gambino's production is miles ahead of Lil Wayne, Lil Wayne is better as an emcee when he tries. And actually A Milli is so much better than Hero. A Milli actually has use of phonetics manipulation and genuine literary devices while Hero has... "BACK ON MY GRIND, NIGGA I'M A SKATA, SHE JUST THINK I'M FINE, NIGGA YOUZ A HATA". @RRMusic93 Well, I guess depth is subjective. But rapping about how you want to kill yourself sometimes isn't "depth". I wouldn't say either of them are deep whatsoever, and when CG tries it's kind of forced. And there isn't really a correlation between subject matter and being good. Curren$y and Danny Brown rap about weed/drugs mostly (though the latter can make a connection to addiction) and both of them are way better as a whole than half of the shitty Rhymesayers label "conscious" rappers.

And Curren$y is just a chill dude, its hard not to like him, plus he tells stories once in a while, that gives him some depth in my eyes. And I'm not saying that just because a rapper is "conscious" he's better but if I had to choose between a good rapper who doesn't rap about anything important and a good rapper who can do that and rap about stuff that matters I'd pick the latter.

Open Mike Eagle is this cool guy who just made an album this year and he kind of has a cool "sing-songy" rapping voice. Danny Brown is cool, he has this cartoonish/demented rapping voice over atmospheric beats, and he's coming out with an EP with Black Milk in November so I'm excited for that. I really like Big L and The Pharcyde in terms of old school, and I'm pumped for the new Drake. You?
