  • ES MUY INTERESANTE, Y DIDACTICO, NO SABES LO IMPORTANTE QUE ERES EN MUY APRENDIZAJE, TE FELICITO Y TE AGRADEZCO DE CORAZON; PERO EVIDENTEMENTE NO SE NI POQUITO DE INGLES, Y CREO QUE MUCHAS TENEMOS LA MISMA DIFICULTAD, SI PUDIERAS PRESENTAR LOS VIDES 2 Y 3 EN ESPAÑOL FUERA SUPER. GRACIAS, BENDICIONES

Abrazos

  • what should i do if the hip measurements are at the same as the thigh? just make it smaller?

  • @LifesMineLiveOn Someone else asked a similar question about hip compared to thigh measurement. I must have a flaw in the video for certain sizes. I will be doing another video on making pants in my advanced beginners series and will definitely take this question into consideration. I guess I will just randomly say that it is always safer to go bigger rather than smaller. If it comes out too big you can always take it in. It is much more complicated when the clothing is made too small.

  • its a little difficoult so hear what you are saying so do you to you can make a subtitle for this too?

  • My waist measurement ends up bigger than my hip measurement in the front using your formula. How would I draw that?

  • @Ziminy13 That is an interesting question. If you wouldn´t mind sending me your measurements I could prepare a video for the Advanced beginner series. That series is a little more technical than this one. Please visit my blog and read the "How to Take Measurents" section and I will prepare a video for lesson 4 or 5 in the AB series.

  • Thanks for the info.

  • You are a wonderful teacher i would never have thought of taking the measurements whilst sitting....

your videos are great and easy and they really helped me

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!

  • HEY!! thank you so sso sosos much for posting these vids, its really helped me alot to understand the mathematic in making the pattern paying special attention to how you resolved the difference ( in the first vid) of how to make the front panel different from the back panel ( its not four equal portions !!) so- can you PLEASE tell me - how do you do this for the lower part of the leg- if you want the circumference to be X - how do you calculate the front and back difference? trial & error? or?

  • The lower part of the leg is pretty much even on the front and the back, maybe only a teeny bit bigger in the back. But actually trial and error is a GREAT way to make your own clothes. The first few times you make something you know what to change on your personalized pattern for the next time! Although it never hurts to take a pattern making class if one is available in your area. I try to make these videos as short as possible so I skip much of the technical stuff.

  • @fettuccinetube again, thanks so much, sometimes the most "stupid" question can be a big stumbling block if you dont know the resolution. I am slowly filling in all the blanks- for my odd technical questions - I am a self employed designer, but I make simple things to sell to boutiques & follow pre-existing patterns which is just embarrassing, school unfortunately was not an option for me in my youth & now that Im older the only option seems to be adult educational, which Im doing

    cheers!

  • You are so awesome for taking the time to make these videos, very informative and you're a pleasure to watch. 5 stars and subbed!!!

  • I love this, I hate trying to buy pants, because they are not custom made to fit, so they are always a bit off from what I want.

  • Hi I really love ur tutes - I've made the peasant top a few times now. Anyway was just wondering when u were going to post the last part of this pants tute? I'd love to have a go at this one.

  • You are so right! I have been procrastinating about part 3 of this tutorial. I am actually rather "afraid" of zippers. They are not that difficult but I just usually have bad luck with them. So that is what the delay has been, my phobia. But I will get my act in gear and just do it. Once I get past that I will probably be doing a few more videos too! I will shoot for let´s say, next Monday, June 20th 2009. I will upload the part three that day. Thanks for watching!

  • I have just created a playlist on my channel "How to sew on a zipper" of videos from another channel Expert Village. It is best to just press "play all" and just watch the playlist because the titles of the videos don´t match the order in which the videos should go. This is just until I do my own zipper tutorial.

  • Do you think you can run by the crotch part after you sew up the sides?

  • You CAN do the crotch last but it is more difficult to sew it on the machine. If you are putting a zipper in you can sew it in by hand. You can also by those type of "button fly" buttons and just clamp those on. Or if you made the waist part large enough to fit over your hips you can just do a pull on pant with an elastic waist. But or a zipper or button fly we still need to cut a piece of fabric to cover the fly part.

  • thanks so much its really useful for me

  • how can i put zipper on front...and pls also make a video on making a upper suit...tnx

  • In part three I will show how to put it all together but actually you can probably figure that out based on what you´ve seen so far. I am actually TERRIBLE at zippers. But I have seen some really good tutorials on youtube about zippers. I will try to find some links to post here.

  • Have a look at my playlist "How to Sew on a Zipper". This will give you an idea about how to finish the basic pant until I get around to doing my own video.

  • great!
