terrys a diamond and knows his stuff! listen to some of the boys own stuff, black science orchestra etc! fucking class. terry is just real! he stands up for real house music and i applaud him for that. hes not that moany anyway.
Oh yeah and Im gonna mention nothin about the junior boys mix of the sunscreem track... cause that definately has absolutely nothin to do with sunrise ...not at all lol
As a now 50 year old who was a dj back in the day, the Junior Boys Own label was just such a breath of fresh air, when the majority were jumping about to things like Dominator (R+S) , you guys released some good UK funky choons.
those dj's and ravers who stuck there neck on the line is the true spirit of raving in this country which led on to boys own cuz all the ravers got a job and wore nice clothes
clubbin was for arsey, coked up, well dressed, wankers. music was phenomenal though. ravin' was for real people. we didnt give 2 fucks what we were wearin' coz it was all about gettin' leathered and makin' freinds. and of course the music was also phenomenal. agreed - @toejamm89.
Club UK was my first memory, 93/94 before the raids but yes, west london and it's suburbs are forgotten about a bit, I feel good after seeing this as I was a clubber and "ravers" weren't cool when I was going clubbing. Which is confusing now! My sentiments are mirrored about dancing next to people who might be gangsters / prostitutes / doctors / priests ! Love that memory.
i was into both scenes and i can tell you now these boysown parties were good but the people were twats! venus in notts too good music but friggin twats! the rave scene the people were real and didnt give a toss about what they had on much better scene
went to a boys own doo at clink street in 1990.great night. and then again in an old farm near guildford.....fuck!!!!!! mental nights...who would of thought it would create what it did
'Hedonism in a nice shirt' - so that's where I went wrong! Stevie boy you could have had a word in my shell like or slipped me the number of your Sinbad... Ah well too late now. LOL
Danny Rampling did DJ at acid house wharehouse parties.... the East Acton Industrial Estate one in 86 / 67 for starters..... I used to go to acid house nights since the begining.... Heaven... Limelite... Schoom... do at the zoo etc.... awesome days..... best thing that ever happened on the dancefloor...
Farley's aged a little! They pushed the progressive house slow sound and raged against rave music and Guru Josh! Weatherall's still going - how do these guys make their living now? Are they still knocking out records? Interesting how JBO and Oakenfold always said they hated the rave sound but are quick to say they pioneered Acid House. I don't see a massive difference in the music there, but the atmosphere definitely was. Rocky from X-Press2-crackers!
@djJackMF - Mate, you know NOTHING about what the real house scene was about and how is started...do you honestly think that Oakenfolds contribution was that he 'spun a few acid house tracks back in the day' PMSL..if only you knew, lol. If you think he's contribution is so insignificant, why arent you doing something bigger and better...lol
@Hedsta You came for me so who has the chip? I delete ALL my comments particularly if it causes people like you to carry irrelevant to the video rendering the comments a war zone for your self indulgances. If you're really curious about me, friend me and continue this dialog in private instead of polluting everyone else's view. Who exactly are you fighting with here? Your biggest victory will be over your self.
Interesting Vid...shame the slate on the Rave scene...that really was the driving force behind dance music.....it was all about having fun...... At least people danced at Raves with smiles on their faces..............At least the Boys Own team still carry on their true values with an air of snobbery that was very much part of their scene.
I'm massive JBO fan & have bought most of their releases over the years, i'm a bit disappointed they turned up their noses at the rave scene, we was having it just as much as the house heads were, house heads always hated us, the snobs at mixmag etc, a nice shirt & a whore on your arm doesn't make you better than anyone else does it!
it all went wrong when people starting thinking more about what they are wearing than the music( around 1991 IMHO).... everything went pretentious, everywhere...horrible ...still is
Yeah so did i - well North Hillingdon or Norf ill as it was said . Ran Mega Mega Records wiv Joe Borgia and at the end Lofty in uxb Above Wack the clothes shop . Rocky & Deisel used to come in quite regulary Good times mate
Yeah I remember Lofty's shop above wack. I used to do the villa wine bar there every Saturday night back in about 1990. I used to get my records from around soho and the flying shop in Kensington market or Jon Jules' shop in Rayners lane also used to be a good shop in Slough. Yes those were the days lol
Turning up at "doos" armed with a giant dummy, a pot of menthol Vicks and a Trip to Trumpton t-shirt is it any wonder these idiots felt excluded?? No point venting your anger at JBO you should first reflect upon yourself and what you can do to change for the better. Unfortunately for some that just isn't going to happen so off you trot Ted and vent your anger elsewhere :-)
All ravers weren't like that, i hated it just as much as you did, our scene was just as valid as the house scene, some bloody good music came out of the rave scene, i'm proud that the rave scene wasn't full of snobs
We come out of Amnesia about 11 in the morning sitting in a Cafe having a beer and James Hunt the Ferrari racer pulls up in a jeep with 3 hookers from Thailand completely off his nut.
We new then this is what we want, this is clubbing this is our moment and we stuck with that.
terrys a diamond and knows his stuff! listen to some of the boys own stuff, black science orchestra etc! fucking class. terry is just real! he stands up for real house music and i applaud him for that. hes not that moany anyway.

@djJackMF - REALLY - You're one of the 'creators'..
Who are you?
What did you do?
You've come such a long way if all you do now is get defensive when someone challenges your views when you're being negative about others...
