The 'Industrial Revolution' made life so easy that humans could have more to eat than they could ever possibly produce on their own. Resulted in the Population Explosion of over seven times in magnitude. The 'fat' population. All within less than 200 years. Industrial Revolution also gave birth to 'The Dependency Addicted Generation' that is ever more demanding and causing all of the problems today..
@weedissafer I am not an idiot, kind sir, so don't call me an idiot. A lot of people are interested in this stuff. Also, there are a lot of people of all races that like this stuff.
@weedissafer Firstly, the vast majority of these engines were designed to be mounted and run stationary. They ran things like generators, pumps, compressors and the like. Secondly, this is history. This engine, and others like it, paved the way for the modern way of life you take for granted. It's a damn good thing people preserve them, it'd be a shame to melt this down and make some priuses. Lastly, if you don't like watching old engines run, don't fucking watch old engines run!
Thanks for this jewel! I really like this engine, especially the thumping of the exhaust when he throttles it up. How fast can it go? I doesn't appear as one of those low rev engines...
@KillerJoeFIN Probably one cylinder getting more fuel than the others and with no load that cylinder is enough to turn the engine over. You can hear all the cylinders fire when the operator is throttling the engine.
It ran a lot of irrigation lines at one time! It could really move some water out to the fields! It was used here in Southern Oregon back in the day and was moved out Eastern Oregon until it made it back to Southern Oregon a few years back! It is now located at Pottsville, Oregon (Southern Oregon) at the Museum!
Why does this remind me of transformers

@weedissafer Also, this is not " stupid pointless shit ". Without these old engines, our way of life in the modern times would be different.
MrJp990 2 months ago
@MrJp990 yeah how? i don't see how mounting old engines and starting them stationary is important?
weedissafer 2 months ago
@weedissafer Old engines like these ran things like locomotives, irrigation systems, and even factories. That is how.

@MrJp990 Locomotives? I don't know of any that have hug 4-cyllinder engines, loco engines are all 12 and 16 cylinders, diesel
danwat1234 1 month ago
@danwat1234 Some of the very old and small ones had these. Also, these run agricultural things. ( I think )

Looks like it takes a 55 gal drum of oil just to start it,
but sometimes those old engines can be economical.
Any idea how much oil is required to operate it at
normal load? Gallons per hour?

There's a very similar one in Texas. I wonder if it's the same model?

Is there a problem with throttle or is it maded to be hit 'n miss engine?

@KillerJoeFIN how is there a problem with the throttle? it sounds just like it should.

Very nice, are you going to put up a building over the engine. That one would sure run a lot of belted equipment. Phil
