do you have a video after finishing p90x? because i'm also on a low carb/high fat diet and I'm planning to do p90x whilst maintaining my current diet plan.
@isda1984 I never finished P90x. I made it through day 73 the first time and day 45 second time. My problem is I also marathon train, so 1 hour with P90x and 1-2 hours of running each and every day led to over-training and being worn out. One of the two had to go, and P90x was voted off the island. I still do it occasionally for a break, but not as a daily item.
@bowulf do you think atkins diet can produce the same results with the P90X? because I'm planning to do that since I am so happy with atkins. PS: I'm not a big fan of eating veggies which is primarily the reason why I ended up with atkins after trying so many others.
@isda1984 I think you can achieve the same benefits on P90x on the Atkins Diet as on the Tony H promoted low fat diet, perhaps even better once acclimated.
As for veggies, I personally never ate more veggies than after I started the Diet. My taste buds changed, and they actually tasted good after not being saturated by the overly sugary or starchy foods.
thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my questions. I'll try it with the P90X soon and hopefully I'd get the same or even better results. thanks again, Kent!
It is extremely tough and will push you far. If you can handle the routine (not the workouts, but the same set of videos every day for 90 days), it is very good way to get your body into the shape. Personally the same relative workouts week after week got to me, and I think a crossfit gym would be better.
The best suggestion is as you are losing make sure you keep doing resistance training in addition to the moderate cardio. It is that resistance training that will compensate for the less weight your body has to move. The other qualifier is not to drop your Caloric intake too low as then the body has to feed on itself for all nutrients including muscle.
You will definitely lose fat, but you might not lose weight as P90x focused on building muscle mass. Hence the most important thing with P90x is track inches lost or gained in the appropriate spot. Weight is not the determinant of one's fitness -- one's body fat percentage is closer.
I'm sorry man but for anaerobic exercise i.e. muscle building you need a lot of carbs. I started Atkins after a long period of "builking" and it did wonders to my aerobic performance but my lifts suck now big time and I recover 3 times longer than on high/moderate carb diet. So if you want to build muscle, carbs+protein and moderate fat, if you want to lose weight potein+fat and lots of cardio.
Sorry I do anerobic 2-3 days a week, and after 5 years I experience no delay of recovery. I don't need carbs, let alone "a lot of" them. As for why your lifts might suck, how long have you doing Atkins? To begin the acclimation, you need at minimum 3-5 weeks.
If you are using Atkins simply for cutting or dropping fat, you will likely never achieve acclimation to burning solely fat for fuel. Heck, the Olympian trainer Charles Poliquin recommends low carb.
Good to know about Poliquin! However, It was Atkins obserwation that anaerobic performance under ketogenic diet goes down. You should also know that under "normal" diet avarage male should achieve 300 lbs bench press and adequate squat and curl in a year of strenght training.
It comes down to focus of training. What do you hope to attain -- one's bench press is certainly one goal. I prefer to train using army fitness test as barometer of my overall fitness while working towards a goal -- what do you want at the end of training.
For me, I would rather run a 3:45 marathon than go from 230 to 300 in bench press or from 400 to 750 in leg press or even 42 pushups to 100 pushups in 2 minutes. Better cardio conditioning makes more sense with my FF life than others.
See I disagree. You can see my high protein vs high fat video for all my thoughts, but high fat in the absence of high carbs is a great fuel source and usually combined with great way to rebuild muscle tissue. Excess protein in a high protein just gets converted into glucose and then can still mess with your blood sugar levels.
It depends on what you mean by confused. If you mean that muscles can't plateau and that doing the same exercise day after day won't get easier, then I would disagree with you. In running you alternate between interval training and long runs. Doing the same exercise fails to produce the results as doing a variety of different ones with the same muscle groups.
You will definitely build muscles all over and build overall fitness to levels unmatched before, but you may not build HUGE muscles. What you will build is muscle mass and core strength that typically more isolated exercises like bench or leg presses do not do.
My ISP sent me a threatening letter saying no more bitorrents or else,so I try not to use it. Although last night I downloaded(torrent) the guides, because mine just comes with the dvds only.
I think P90x is too extensive on doing all these routines. Let me tell you guys somethin , you dont need to waste 120$ or so on a program like this. I lost weight and inches just on the dumbell and fitness ball alone. There are several ways you can use them. I m not one to complain with some of the stuff P90x has to offer cuz i ve tooken a couple examples and applied them , followed with hip hop abs. You can say its a little mixture of both and it works ! just give it a try and youll see results
I agree you don't NEED P90x There is nothing magical about it that one couldn't obtain on your own or following another crosstraining program like Crossfit. My problem was I wasn't doing that on my own. I for whatever reason needed a jump start to break out of the doldrums of push-ups and sit-ups in the same manner as always and running as my cardio. That is what P90x did for me. I would have never done KenpoX or Pylo with all its squats before it. It pushes you out of your comfort zone.
i lost a great amount of weight too, i lost 90 pounds in 4 months, but i dont have access skin, i want to get ripped and i was wondering if p90 works on younger people
Heyy! i just joined the p90x workout... cant wait to see your day 30 photos and see if theres a differance... im pritty strick with my diet thus far, i pritty much eat the ame thing everyday... i do notice this being my first week sometimes its rough keeping up, like on the first day i did the chest and back overall but once i hit abs i could not move so i barely got abs in, does it get better over time?
lmao, the reason you lost so much weight so fast is because carbs store water, restrict carbs and you reduce the amount of water stored, carbs are the bodies main source of energy, reduce them and no wonder your not losing anything and have no energy
Yes, yes the weight loss = only water loss argument. The initial weight loss (10-15 pounds) has water loss in it. However after that the person losing is losing more fat tissue than in any other diet. There is no way I simply loss 26 gallons of water.
As to the energy or lack thereof perhaps it is the expenditure of energy in running 15-25 miles per week, doing 8 hours of P90x, doing Fireman's training, and working 50 hours that might lead to that feeling.
Sounds like you are doing great. My first thought about your lack of loss. P90X plus running must take a lot of energy, are you eating enough? You might want to check your calorie intake to make sure you are eating enough to lose and gain muscle. I'm decided to do power 90 first and I start June WOOT. You are doing great and are gonna be a great fire fighter.
Muscle confusion uses the same methodologies as described in alignment theory. Write me for details and a website link...

you don't have to use the p90x diet. try reading the Abs Diet book. it teaches you to eat correctly and is not hard to follow.

You can get by with just resistance cords as well. They feature those cords or bands in the video just as much as the pull i[ bars.
