What if you saw a person and you could not tell if they were black or white and you asked, "Is she black or white?" It wouldbe considered rude and racist. if you're a boy and you dress like a girl, you're still a boy. ha there is no "gender spectrum", it's just the two options. except in very rare cases where the subject is biologically male and female but in most of these they are predominantly one or the other anyway.
So is she, as much as she would deny it. Gender is not in the mind, it's on the outside. Just because your thoughts are atypical or not standard in regards to your gender, doesn't mean you are a female if you have male parts. Its so much easier for them to say "boy or girl" & "gay or straight", because then they can move on with their meaningless day comfortably. They don't have to waste another moment on wondering.
This is something that has bugged me for a long time. Why in most cases does it matter what the gender of a person is.

It all depends on the tone and intent that is used while asking the question. This phrase is constantly used to put down people who may not fit into social norms of gender... and while there may be certain times where it IS an appropriate question to ask, more often then not it isn't.

Holy crap. How many ignorant bigots responded to this video? It is completely biologically possible to have a female brain and a male body or vice versa. It is also completely possible to have a different gender identity, sometimes conforming to neither. Aiden is right, us FTMs are more men than anyone who will spout such nonsense. if you're a boy and you dress like a girl, you're still a boy. ha there is no "gender spectrum", it's just the two options. except in very rare cases where the subject is biologically male and female but in most of these they are predominantly one or the other anyway.

Just because your thoughts are atypical or not standard in regards to your gender, doesn't mean you are a female if you have male parts. I don't have a problem with people who feel like they were born into the wrong body, but until they have that changed they are what they are. As I said before, there is no "spectrum" when it comes to gender.

Stop being ignorant and realize that sex and gender are entirely different things. Unlike sex, which is determined by a very specific chromosomal pair within the human species, gender HAS a spectrum. One that stretches far and wide, and encompasses and contains several terms, words, and definitions. Also, I find it appalling that you think it is required of people to have SRS in order to be determined, or even seen, as the opposite sex.

Ah yes, the all too familiar question. Due to social conditioning, people CRAVE compartments; Safe little boxes to put people in. Understanding that gray areas exist takes effort and actually stopping to get to know an individual. Its so much easier for them to say "boy or girl" & "gay or straight", because then they can move on with their meaningless day comfortably. They don't have to waste another moment on wondering.

This is something that has bugged me for a long time. Why in most cases does it matter what the gender of a person is.
As far as I can tell the sex of a person only comes into play when the possibility of the addition of one more human on this already over stressed planet comes about.
Instead of asking that question, have the guts and go up to the person in question and politely ask them.
