Not a horse shoe crab, they live in the ocean and have stiff tails. Not a triop either, they live in desert pools and don't get much more than 5 cm long. Probably some type of tadpole shrimp, though I've never heard of any of those that are dangerous.

Might be a relative of a trilobite, but it's got a tail like a stingray. It appears to have legs of some kind, so it's probably related to the trilobite line. However, trilobites have been extinct for a godzillion number of years, if I dare use such a technical term. Otherwise, I dunno what it is, but it doesn't look good to eat.

That's no horseshoe. I lived near the shore of Narragansett Bay, and horseshoes had huge round bodies that were armor plated both sides, and the only thing that ate them were seagulls. They were otherwise harmless, no toxics, and were quite shy in the water. They came up on land to mate(?) and many died.

Horseshoe crabs are pretty big, about 10" to 12" in diameter Ths fellow is tiny. I'm sure there are smaller horseshoes, but this isn't a horseshoe. It's something else, having a soft body.

It's called a Triop and they live in freshwater.

scientific names are binomial, dur, it's Triops longicaudatus, not tripod.

Also, you don't buy horseshoe crab eggs and raise them, it's still triops

The tail is much larger in relation to body size than it would be for a horseshoe crab, not to mention that on horseshoe crabs it's a single, nonflexible spike, rather than an articulated limb as shown here.
