@Jiltedin2007 The Dome was primarily for the Vikings thus the Twins needed Target Field. However the Vikings DON NOT NEED a new stadium. If they want one SO bad THEY CAN PAY FOR IT!
Oh, they don't need a new stadium? O.K. then, I want to know what you're going to say after the next snowstorm that hits Minnesota not only puts a hole in the Metrodome, BUT DESTROYS IT!
You can build a new stadium for the Twins, but you can't do the same for the Vikings? At least we know now what sport rules in Minnesota. And it isn't Football!
METROPOLITAN STADIUM SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN TAKEN DOWN!
@Jiltedin2007 The hole was cause because of talks about a new place so the cloth was beyond it's service life by a number of years and they can always renovate the stadium with a different style roof. I"M JUST TRIED OF PAYING FOR THESE PLACES WHEN THE TEAM CAN AFFORD IT THEMSELVES!
all Twins fans can thank the Metrodome for Jack Morris' masterpiece of a Game 7 of the 1991 World Series against the Atlanta Braves when he pitched 10 scoreless innings, which is argued as one of the best performances in World Series history. The game time temperature for that game was 41 degrees and there was freezing rain that night. Without that big inflatable toilet, there's no way Jack Morris pitches that kind of a game, and there may have been a chance that the game wouldn't have been
(page 3) that we would be wishing that we had a retractable roof. April can still offer some bitterly cold days, along with snow, as can October. If you talk to a lot of the former Twins greats that played in the old Met in the 1965 World Series, they would tell you, that October baseball, weather wise, was not fun. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see everyone complaining about not having a retractable roof within the first 2-5 years if Target Field's existance. And one other tid bit,
(page 2) the Twins greatest runs, the dome created the greatest home field advantages in the history of baseball: The teflon colored roof which road teams had a hard time adjusting to in day games. The incredible noise created by 56,000 strong in the 2 World Series' we were in. There was no noiser stadium in baseball than the Metrodome. (not to say that some teams were able to overcome them, obviously) The new stadium is going to be fantastic, no question about it, but not without some days that
As much as I agree that the Metrodome is a fucking toilet, you have to look at the facts. The Metrodome is what kept both the Twins and Vikings in Minnesota. Calvin Griffith was ready to pack up and set up shop somewhere else and the Vikings were no longer competing financially with the old Met Stadium. (as is the case now with the Metrodome) While the dome is just about the worst place to watch a baseball game that there is, there will be some things that will be missed about it. During some of
Let's see. It's an indoor stadium (baseball was meant to be played outdoors on real grass), the seats are alligned for football not baseball, artifical turf is gay. The Metrodome is a joke.
an outdoor stadium would make no sense i minnesota and they need the seats in a football configuration for the vikings because they draw larger crowds they need to make the majority happy
The new stadium the Twins are building is going to be outdoors so at least they won't have that stupid dome anymore for the Twins. No shit they need the seats in a football configuration for the Vikings, the Twins and Vikings should have their own ballparks thank god that's finally going to happen because the Metrodome is a joke for baseball.
i dont like the new stadium i think its a fucking joke the twins tried so long to get a dome and now there going to abandon it, outdoor sports in minnesota makes no sense
I don't care. Playing baseball inside a dome is a stupid idea and whoever came up with it is retarded. Yes outdoor sports in Minnesota makes sense, how many days a year does it rain in Minneapolis?
I live in New York so I'm not sure how much snow there was last year in Minneapolis. That's only during the first month of the year so I'm not too worried about games being postponed in April because that is normal.
We are two weeks into the season right now, and it is pristine baseball weather. Minnesota isn't some frozen tundra in spring and summer. Besides, if you look at attendance over the course of a season, the Twins need to please more fans than the Vikings. Besides, everyone knows the Twins are the pride of the Upper Midwest. The Vikings can barely make the state of minnesota into a fan base.
The Metrodome is a fucking joke! The State of Minnesota should have NEVER taken the old Metropolitan Stadium.

Answer me this one question then. Who paid for the building of Target Field?
Jiltedin2007 8 months ago
@Jiltedin2007 I heard Hennipen County and private people.
Revkor 8 months ago
@Revkor And when you say "Hennipen County", what you are referring to are, you Taxpayers.
