only 290?? i have an 02 z28 with the 6speed... i know theres a year difference and that they made changes to the motor but mine made 325rwhp/340 rwtq... is there really that big of a difference or is your customer's car hurtin?
your car does not make 325/340. you are a moron. i have been a performance shop owner for over ten years and not once have i seen an i/h/e f body ls1 make over 305. after you actually take your car to a dyno facility then you can tell people what it makes for wheel hp/torque. i would be happy to make an appointment so you can learn the difference between advertised/crank h.p. and actual wheel h.p.
@4440powerhouse I have owned two M6 ws6 T/A's, A 2001 made in May of 2001 and a 2002 made in July of 2002. Both cars were dynoed on Dynojet dynos at different shops after the 5k mile break in several years apart. Both of them dynoed 325/340 corrected for ISO conditions. The day I had the 02 T/A dynoed, my buddy brought his 03 Z06 and he dynoed 350/350 and was miffed that I had more about 10% more power and torque below 5250 rpm.
@boushey22 01 and 02 f-bodies came with the LS6 intake and 28.8lb injectors opposed to the 26lb injectors in 00. Don't recall the exact size of injectors in 98 and 99, but know that they are different than the 00's and the 01-02's.
@4440powerhouse My full exhaust 00 Camaro Z28 made 344rwhp and 351lb/ft with the stock tune on a Dyno-Jet. He's not bullshitting you either. 325rwhp sounds about right for a bone stock 02 fbody because it has the LS6 intake. And a stock 98-00 fbody is known to make 290-310rwhp. :)
@4440powerhouse i agree my buddys got pretty much full bolt ons on his firebird formula and makes a tad over 300@wheels. my 540i put down 271 with ghetto exhaust and a k&n drop in... its only rated at 282hp from factory so i guess anything is possible im not too familiar with LSx motors tho...
The LS1 in a Camaro or Trans-Am was rated at 325hp, however when the LS1 is in a Vette, they rate it at 350hp, but that mainly down to fueling tables, as the Vette is tuned to run a little leaner producing a little more power.
That 350hp is at the flywheel, Rear wheel power depends on manual or auto, manual looses around 15%, Auto I believe is more like 22% losses. If that a manual its around 276rwhp.
y did they pick buick over pontiac i never understood WHY!!!!!!!!!!

My 01 t/a laid down a mind boggling 334/330 with TR224, LT headers, good tune and ported heads on a dynojet.
330/325 on a mustang dyno.

KingRichard572 3 years ago
oops, didn't notice the comments below... but anyways if its on a dyno i doubt its completely stock
KingRichard572 3 years ago

midwesthybrid1swap 3 years ago 2
LS1 is 330
padrinoel 3 years ago
your not accounting for drivetrain power-loss. It usually about 15% so 290 sound about right.
