Why do so many people think this is fake? This 8th dan guy can do that. Do you realize that the better the person is in aikido, the less effort taken to snap the hand or the neck?
Looks nice but don't forget - Mr Stajic is 8th dan. Anyone who ever been in the real fight must know that nothing works like this. Uke's attack's are schematic, every stab and stroke goes straight and sort of "wait's" for "victim's" defense.
Aikido is a real Martial Art but not great for self defense unless you practice it for many years. The reason is there is not real sparring or confrontation, every attacks are prearranged.
@semen672 The same could be said for any martial-art. If I went and did a year of boxing, that isn't going to help me much against someone with a knife, or several attackers at once, or even against someone else with many more years of street-fighting experience. It would require years of boxing practice to adequately prepare myself for anything.
@sacrednic I can not agree with this. During that one year of boxing you will have lots of sparring, get real punches in the face and body etc. All this will help you in the real fight. I have trained aikido and then bjj and kickboxing that's why I can compare these styles. And my opinion is: there is nothing of real fight in aikido.
So like maby im gonna sound dumb, but how come you never see like a guy that's like (Ripped?) can't find the words, in an aikido video, their always like big :P. @Rafabomb On the contrary, that is a very common knife attack. You are correct that someone who really knows how to use a knife likely wouldn't attack that way, but expert knife fighters are few and far between. One of the things I like about aikido is the time spent on defense against "unskilled" attacks. These are the things the average martial artist are most likely to have to deal with.
How many people are going to attack you with a stick? - especially such a short stick. In a cornered situation w/ assailant having a stick or knife (such as a location that would have ample supply of sticks) I would look for something larger (like a chair for example) and use that to put space b/w me and the attacker and create a route of escape. (Aikido is amazing self defense, though)

btw i am doing take won do and we are doing also fine Aikido is dangerous so i will never accept this kinda sport you can brake some1 in many pieces that is not the point better knock him out and you both fine and still alive...
Yah man you dont fuck with Aikido I took shory gojo and I've been thinking of taking Krav Maga (the style the Israeli army takes) both Krav Maga and Aikido are styles you don't screw around with if you point a gun at a guy who knows aikido you're going get messed up!
Lol no kyle like u i also take Aikido! I think now people r starting to get to know aikido n starting to learn about n how it actually works! People realize now, even though it takez a lil longer to learn, people n fighters of everything style n country r starting to c just how effective and dangerous Aikido really is!! I have my 7th kyu test friday! Bow bow to Ueshiba!
very good tactics shown here-especially against a knife-he does continuous motion which in hebrew is the word retsuv-by initiating the tactics here and practising over and over it should become muscloe memory and save someones life (even if cut)
sigh... everytime i watch an aikido vid there so many negative comments sayin "what a load! nobody flips like that from a lock in real life" and your right , they dont, they go stright to the ground with a broke arm. the flipping is called ukimi (the art of falling) in demonstrations they do really good ukimi to keep there arms from snapping. thats why they flip. not to make it look good. just to keep from getting hurt.
Thanks, Kyle. I was wondering about that....if it was supposed to hurt them, why would they jsut flip harmlessly into the ground? lol now I feel stupid. It makes perfect sense. Good video, aikido
@thelion117 lol i know what you mean. sometimes i wonder if im the only one on youtube who actually takes aikido. most people dont seem to know anything about it. im thinking about makin a video answering peoples questions about it and explaining things to the skeptics like ukimi, where aikido comes from, small joint locks, and why its not used in mma. (let out all the trade secrets lol)
@kyle1815 Yes. Finially someone else understands that. I mean, I know real/serious Aikidokans do, but it's always nice to see someone detail it explicitly.
@kyle1815 HA! Finally someone with sense! People forget that when ur a trained fighter you study movements and you pretty much memorize what attack stances and movements you will be exposed to...its not a matter of it being staged but its already expected. To be a trained fighter you have to know what to expect in order to counter it.
@kyle1815 lol.. well said :) though I cant help but wonder if people with no ukimi experience would flip anyway due to the sheer amount of sudden pain coursing through their body like an electric shock. I reckon they'd flip over but they wouldn't get back up ;-)
what a load of bollocks.. no one spins in the air like that from a wrist lock, and no one just comes at you with a stick or knife and leaves his other arm conspicuously leaving his other arm doing nothing
yea, if you dont follow your locked wrist, you end up with a cast. Aikido is no joke, people who say it is ineffective show their ignorance to the martial arts.
an AIKIDO MASTR would find it very difficukt to get me in to a wrist lock becouse i have studied martial arts for 20 years and have learned sensitivity, as soon as some one touches my wrist my contact reflex kicks in , i rotate me wrist its as simple as that, i have studied WING CHUN , KALI ,and SILAT. AND SO HAVE A LOT OF PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD, why is it thst aikido practioners always fly like that when in a when there master applies a lock ,
they do it becouse its all show , if some one kept wrist locking me for years i must be pretty dumb not to get into that situation again.. it only takes a few good locks for your partner to laern how to get out or not get into that situation
Exactly, these techniques are nothing new... most or all of the techniques in Aikido can be found in Judo, Hapkido, Muay Boran, Aikijutsu, Jujutsu, Kung Fu, etc. Aikido is merely another manifestation of those techniques. I've trained with some extremely high level Aikido and Karate practicioners, as well as MMA fighters ... and I definitely was not submitting to them based on hierarchy. Ring fighting and cage fighting are two different realms.
have you ever had something like Kotegaeshi (1:15) done to you? well, you either learn how to take a hard fall, (which this guy is doing) or you get your arm snapped off. until you've actually studied and trained in aikido, you have absolutely no right to judge it.
Im curently studying Judo and Aikido, and let me say that i like judo, but Aikido is no JOKE, and neva New just how easy it really is snapping someones arm off like a twig! HANDS DOWN, AIKIDO RULES THE MARTIAL ARTS WORLD!!!!!!!!
@Aessari : Having an Opinion doesn't make someone stupid...in fact you contradict yourself...because that actually makes you stupid as well...because it is only by opinion that you think he is wrong in the first place...
@bostonian314 Well I doubt you can call me stupid, since Martial Art effectivness is not mesured by the Martial Art itself, but by the fighter who trains it. Im also not saying my opinion about akido, or that its good or not, but yelling out that a X martial art is the best, is just stupid.
@DandDskeeto ... Everyone seems to search for the magic bullet. there is none. some guys are boxers, some wrestle, The deal is to know what you know, and when necessary... execute the move.
Boxers: can do karate, Tae kwon do, Wrestlers, can go Judo, J Jitsu... but boxer kicker should have some groundwork ability, if only to know enough to get back n his feet.
I agree with what you said 100% !! Actually. Aikido is the last art I studied and a fairly small part of my overall "mix". I guess just a little tired of of those stating things about Aikido that are un true. I doubted many things about Aikido even after a few months of practice. I started because it was taking place on the mat after Judo and a lot of the instructors & students stayed. (and of course my tournament coach assured me it would help my footwork for Judo..and he was right)
Thanks for the kudos. I know a few guys who practised Aikido, but 'majored' in Judo. Every one of them said their judo skills got a huge increase by the time they were 2 yrs in Aikido. Much like Jiujitsu
Still, in the street, the first 3-4 seconds are critical to one's survival. Speed wins
@chrstilen5 I am not fat, am quite fast. Lots of guys can beat me. I just can't tell from looking, who can and who can't. Best to stay humble and away from trouble
fair play-u want to be precise:all martial arts actualy came direct from KUNG FU(originaly an indian monk in India)Bruce Lee used to always tell the JAPANESE "you came from chinese"(KARATE used to mean "CHINA-HAND",till it was later changed by Gichin Funagoshi to "EMPTY HAND")Aikido came from ju jitus, which originated from chinese martial arts...go on wiikipedia-it will prove this fact.(a long read, but the truth)
jujutsu(i.e. throwing, trapping, joint locks, holds, gouging, biting, disengagements, striking, and kicking). In addition to jujutsu, many schools teach the use of weapons. and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which was—in turn—derived from earlier versions (pre-World War II) of Kodokan judo, the most efficient methods for neutralizing an enemy took the form of pins, joint locks, and throws. These techniques were developed around the principle of using an attacker's energy against him.
no you cant be moor wrong aikido came from an styl calld akijitsu youised by samurai and the last liveing real samurai of the takada famly had 2 students 1 creatid aikido yousing theys tech for restraining without harming an enemy and the other would become for father of hapkido which is ment to destroy your enemys body whil throwing and holding joint likes to break whil aikido woud let you go an you just feel pain hapkido also has all the stuff aikido lacks such as elbows punchis
Sorry dude!-in fact ALL martial arts ame from India then to CHINA and karate came direct from KUNG FU!!-Ju Jitsu was nused on the battle field in samurai times(hundreds of years ago)where AIKIDO is relativaly a MODERN martial art and NOT even 100 years old!!!-i did come from JAPANESE systems of self-defense,inlcuding ju jitsu..JUDO exponants hate ADMITTING THIS FACT too!(that they came from ju jitsu).go on google and type "DID AIKIDO COME FROM JU JITSU"
The bone breaking Samoan art, European martial arts, battle field and empty-hand, the fighting styles of the Native Americans from South America to the Arctic Circle all came from India? We can think India for catch fighting and Hulk Hogan in the U.S. Do we know that there was no organized war or pugalistic activity in the Far East until India got involved?
ground fighting and prety much has all moves frome all arts so aikido is just modified akijisu and not haveing anything to do with ju jitsu i know cus in hapkido we lear our rootes of our styl and just so hapopens akijitsu is the father of both stys
Aikido (合気道 aikidō?) is a Japanese martial art developed by Morihei Ueshiba as a synthesis of his martial studies, philosophy, and religious beliefs. Aikido is often translated as "the Way of unifying (with) life energy"[1] or as "the Way of harmonious spirit."[2] Ueshiba's goal was to create an art that practitioners could use to defend themselves while also protecting their attacker from injury.Aikido derives mainly from the martial art of Daitō-ryū Aiki-jūjutsu.
Actually aikido came from more than just jujutsu, the founder Ueshiba Morihei combined the movements found in kenjutsu and sojutsu which are fundemental to it as is the influence of the peace espousing Omoto-kyo sect. So not simple at all ( Not to mention the time he spent in China ^^ )
ok...you guys got know movie fights, demo fights and real fight..no matter what!no demo or movie chreograpgh fight is gonna be 100% simulation to real fight...octagon is at least quit close to real no holds barred fight...aikido looks nice, graceful and artistic moves but in real fights it might not work 100% but might work on drunkards, clumsy fighters, drug intoxification fighters etc..but not pro fighters, season hooligan fighters...
Anyone who knows 'judo, bjj, wrestling, boxing, thai' will know that aikido is an integral skill in any martial art.
To refuse aikido as an 'inferior' martial art is to sign your own death warrant in battle.
If a man considers himself to be a great fighter, then why would he limit his skills?
To limit your skills to the the schools you believe in is death... To understand how your opponent fights - as well as how you fight, is far more useful.
to start with, i thought this was a good example of aikido... then i realized that all the demonstrations were directed at 1 student....
After 2 confrontations of a master to his pupil, the pupil will become intimidated and slow to hostility.
That is why this video is useless as a training video.
The master who created this video needs to take on multiple opponents of varying skill and mentality for this kind of tutorship to be considered viable.
if you should show someone real selfdefence maybe you should nto let the atacker not hit you watch the hesitaions on the first attack .. fat guy with tie would have a few broken ribs if it was not planed
keep wasting your time with useless shit that will never work :) nice reply. ill take that as my being right :) if your delusions make you happy all the power to you...
You see, you assume too much. These things do work, and come by my school in Ash, NC, and I will be more than happy to give you a demonstration of how MMA is training for a game, not reality.
no these things do not work. come by my gym for a demonstration of real fighting and full contact sparring. you will get your ass absolutely handed to you. mma is a sport. there are rules of course so the fighters dont die. but to say muay thai, jiu jitsu, boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, judo, etc etc are nothing compared to this slow motion choreographed fake self defense is absolutely retarded. its real practical fighting techniques. what you train will never be used because it doesnt work
I never said I trained Aikido, I incorporate some of it into my jujutsu. I hold sandans in Karatejutsu, and jujutsu...nonsport, combat oriented martial arts.
So I highly suggest you drop your assumptions at the door.
it doesnt matter. i train bjj and would snap you in two pieces. ive boxed since i was young and recently started kickboxing. i should be having my first amateur mma fight this year. but dont worry. i will for sure be scared of your fake useless self defense tactics "and oh so scary street combat martial arts" pfft haha go watch the video on my favorites of one of the "street lethal" self defense idiots getting dummied by a gracie. truth is im a real fighter. youre a fake poser with useless shit
a game? mma is a sport. we have proven ourselves countless times by again and again beating all these different martial arts (ie the gracies) we have broken martial artists arms and submitted them knocked them out answered every challenge. yet its still a game to you? show me one fight in mma where any self defense tactic worked. hell show me one street altercation on here where it worked. theres millions of videos yet i cant find one? weird. ive seen boxers beat up 2-4 guys at the same time....
If playing your game makes you happy, then so be it. Doesn't mean everything not used in the cage is fake. Just because you don't know it, or your pathetic teachers failed to instill humility for the arts in you, doesn't make it fake.
Real martial artists don't prove themselves by fighting. Those videos don't exist because you won't see REAL Martial Artists in those situations.
"Real martial artists don't prove themselves by fighting." id like to know who made up that rule. i really would. considering martial arts were developed for fighting.
"Those videos don't exist because you won't see REAL Martial Artists in those situations."
nice excuse but it wont work. its fake and non practical and you will never see it used.
what you know is fake and non practical. if it worked guys would employ it in the cage. but it doesnt work so they spend time with better arts
truth is the cage is a great way of seeing what works and what doesnt. some martial arts use cheap or dirty tactics which are the only exception to that area of them not being used in the cage. yet mma fighters could just as easily fight dirty as anyone so thats no excuse. the gracies showed the world that ground fighting was the most dominant in fighting and they used bjj to beat guys twice their size and beat all other styles when there was only 2 rules in the sport.
andddd jiu jitsu is the most widely taught self defense art. because when it comes down to it the majority of fights end up on the ground. youll have kung fu guys and self defense guys say the last place you want to end up in a fight is on the ground so theyre art sounds more practical. truth is more then half of street fights end up on the ground. so what works better? the early days of UFC proved this self defense style and kung fu was useless against real practical fighting like jiu jitsu
hahahaha nice made up story you idiot. just to set things straight. i probably outweigh you by over 50lbs. know alot more about practical fighting then you, and would fuck you up. your self defense is useless. nice reply to my posts. you really put up a great fight in this argument! i owned you on every post. now go write your fairy tales and what youll choreograph next. fucking faggot hahahaha im out. and i win
You obviously have no respect for martial arts. All that mma and ufc fighting is just malicious violence for a prize of money and some kind of fame and sponsorships. Its just a modern day gladiator match so that dumb muscle heads and face painting wieners (the Tapout guys) can make money. The violence is what draws you in.
@OnionChang i am a big fan of the pure martial arts styles, trained aikido and muay thai by myself, but nevertheless its interesting to see what techniques actually work under "as close as possible"- real circumstances. and if you listen to many of todays mma fighters(i agree, not all of them ....) there are great, friendly guys and real martial artists. gsp, mashida, ...
@knifeofwar i hae gereat respect for krav maga because it was made out of several studies done on martial arts...
however. aikido is a combat system just like aikijujutus basedon decades of combat training with wepons .. BUT they require allot of understanding and learning principal of the way things work..and tehy depend on how you use it as you see "realniaikido" uses it in this way.
generally if you are in immidate need of protection i would not choose aikido but i would choose both aikido
@knifeofwar aikido is advanced martial arts like other japanese martial arts like bujinkan they are not applicable as the 1st concern.. principal and discpline is 1st consern because in the long run that is what makes you stay alive.. BUT if you experience you need to deffend yourself in your town and very often it wouldbe wise to supplement with some other art like krav maga.
@knifeofwar btw realniakido is not aikido only its their way of using aikido more geared towards being applicable .. therefore they sacrifice some principals and traditional form.. this is appearant no matter what they will say.
if you tried realniaikido and found it was applicable for you it might be a good midle ground of both aikido and say krav maga.
dont forget krav maga was made specially for military .. so its not so easy to choose.. use your prefferance .
hahahaha god i love these choreographed fake ass self defense videos. i cant believe people actually believe this shit. you WILL NOT find a video of this ever working on youtube. yet there are MILLIONS of street fight videos on youtube. show me one where self defense was used. it wasnt. its always just simply punching and wrestling. so why not learn boxing since basically all street fights are punching? and you will never see these techniques used against real trained fighters. ie in mma....FAKE
brazilian jiu jitsu is the most widely used self defense art and most widely used martial art in mma. if this bullshit in the video worked wonders like these kung fu idiots ad self defense idiots say it does then why wouldnt guys use it? GSP used to teach self defense and never uses it in a fight because its not practical and never works in real situations. looks fancy slow mo and choreographed but truth is mma uses real practical fighting with no cheap shots. you need a BIG reality check kid...
Why do so many people think this is fake? This 8th dan guy can do that. Do you realize that the better the person is in aikido, the less effort taken to snap the hand or the neck?

right: aikido is nothing new, but as every good martial artist: there is NO ultimate fighting style: the combination of them is the key...
and the discussion who discovered the techniques first is not important...
aikido IS one of the true martial arts and has nothing to do with fighting sport

sigh... everytime i watch an aikido vid there so many negative comments sayin "what a load! nobody flips like that from a lock in real life" and your right , they dont, they go stright to the ground with a broke arm. the flipping is called ukimi (the art of falling) in demonstrations they do really good ukimi to keep there arms from snapping. thats why they flip. not to make it look good. just to keep from getting hurt.

you are absolutely right... if they don't do ukemi, they will go home with broken hand...
dr13ns 2 years ago
Thanks, Kyle. I was wondering about that....if it was supposed to hurt them, why would they jsut flip harmlessly into the ground? lol now I feel stupid. It makes perfect sense. Good video, aikido
VitaNuovaRevolution 2 years ago
@kyle1815 i think you are the first person i have seen write a comment about 'ukimi' lol. i thought it was a trade secret.
thelion117 1 year ago
@thelion117 lol i know what you mean. sometimes i wonder if im the only one on youtube who actually takes aikido. most people dont seem to know anything about it. im thinking about makin a video answering peoples questions about it and explaining things to the skeptics like ukimi, where aikido comes from, small joint locks, and why its not used in mma. (let out all the trade secrets lol)
kyle1815 1 year ago
@kyle1815 Yes. Finially someone else understands that. I mean, I know real/serious Aikidokans do, but it's always nice to see someone detail it explicitly.
Ronnock 1 year ago
@kyle1815 great comment but you've got a litlle mistake it is ukemi not "ukimi"
GokiGandalf 1 year ago
@kyle1815 Exactly. Most attackers don't know how to fall. They end up with torn ligaments, tendons, and broken bones.
frankgon4 1 year ago
@kyle1815 HA! Finally someone with sense! People forget that when ur a trained fighter you study movements and you pretty much memorize what attack stances and movements you will be exposed to...its not a matter of it being staged but its already expected. To be a trained fighter you have to know what to expect in order to counter it.
DaAlzki7852 1 year ago 3
@kyle1815 lol.. well said :) though I cant help but wonder if people with no ukimi experience would flip anyway due to the sheer amount of sudden pain coursing through their body like an electric shock. I reckon they'd flip over but they wouldn't get back up ;-)

what a load of bollocks.. no one spins in the air like that from a wrist lock, and no one just comes at you with a stick or knife and leaves his other arm conspicuously leaving his other arm doing nothing
leevancleef1234 2 years ago
yea, if you dont follow your locked wrist, you end up with a cast. Aikido is no joke, people who say it is ineffective show their ignorance to the martial arts.
bigjohn927 2 years ago
an AIKIDO MASTR would find it very difficukt to get me in to a wrist lock becouse i have studied martial arts for 20 years and have learned sensitivity, as soon as some one touches my wrist my contact reflex kicks in , i rotate me wrist its as simple as that, i have studied WING CHUN , KALI ,and SILAT. AND SO HAVE A LOT OF PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD, why is it thst aikido practioners always fly like that when in a when there master applies a lock ,
leevancleef1234 2 years ago
they do it becouse its all show , if some one kept wrist locking me for years i must be pretty dumb not to get into that situation again.. it only takes a few good locks for your partner to laern how to get out or not get into that situation
leevancleef1234 2 years ago

Boxers: can do karate, Tae kwon do, Wrestlers, can go Judo, J Jitsu... but boxer kicker should have some groundwork ability, if only to know enough to get back n his feet.
Aikido works.
sparwood8 2 years ago
I agree with what you said 100% !! Actually. Aikido is the last art I studied and a fairly small part of my overall "mix". I guess just a little tired of of those stating things about Aikido that are un true. I doubted many things about Aikido even after a few months of practice. I started because it was taking place on the mat after Judo and a lot of the instructors & students stayed. (and of course my tournament coach assured me it would help my footwork for Judo..and he was right)

jujutsu(i.e. throwing, trapping, joint locks, holds, gouging, biting, disengagements, striking, and kicking).

Sorry dude!-in fact ALL martial arts ame from India then to CHINA and karate came direct from KUNG FU!!-Ju Jitsu was nused on the battle field in samurai times(hundreds of years ago)where AIKIDO is relativaly a MODERN martial art and NOT even 100 years old!!!-i did come from JAPANESE systems of self-defense,inlcuding ju jitsu..JUDO exponants hate ADMITTING THIS FACT too!(that they came from ju jitsu).go on google and type "DID AIKIDO COME FROM JU JITSU"
kenpoman100 2 years ago

Aikido is often translated as "the Way of unifying (with) life energy"[1] or as "the Way of harmonious spirit."[2] Ueshiba's goal was to create an art that practitioners could use to defend themselves while also protecting their attacker from injury.Aikido derives mainly from the martial art of Daitō-ryū Aiki-jūjutsu.
kevin600rr 2 years ago
Actually aikido came from more than just jujutsu, the founder Ueshiba Morihei combined the movements found in kenjutsu and sojutsu which are fundemental to it as is the influence of the peace espousing Omoto-kyo sect. So not simple at all ( Not to mention the time he spent in China ^^ )

The master who created this video needs to take on multiple opponents of varying skill and mentality for this kind of tutorship to be considered viable.

redneckninjanc 2 years ago
no these things do not work. come by my gym for a demonstration of real fighting and full contact sparring. you will get your ass absolutely handed to you. mma is a sport. there are rules of course so the fighters dont die. but to say muay thai, jiu jitsu, boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, judo, etc etc are nothing compared to this slow motion choreographed fake self defense is absolutely retarded. its real practical fighting techniques. what you train will never be used because it doesnt work

foottothroat21 2 years ago
any contest based on rules is a game.
Football, baseball, boxing, MMA, badminton.
If playing your game makes you happy, then so be it. Doesn't mean everything not used in the cage is fake. Just because you don't know it, or your pathetic teachers failed to instill humility for the arts in you, doesn't make it fake.
Real martial artists don't prove themselves by fighting. Those videos don't exist because you won't see REAL Martial Artists in those situations.
redneckninjanc 2 years ago 3
you feel the need to prove yourself in a contest of skill. Good for you, your art revolves around the rules for that contest.
redneckninjanc 2 years ago 2
"Real martial artists don't prove themselves by fighting." id like to know who made up that rule. i really would. considering martial arts were developed for fighting.
"Those videos don't exist because you won't see REAL Martial Artists in those situations."
nice excuse but it wont work. its fake and non practical and you will never see it used.
what you know is fake and non practical. if it worked guys would employ it in the cage. but it doesnt work so they spend time with better arts
foottothroat21 2 years ago
truth is the cage is a great way of seeing what works and what doesnt. some martial arts use cheap or dirty tactics which are the only exception to that area of them not being used in the cage. yet mma fighters could just as easily fight dirty as anyone so thats no excuse. the gracies showed the world that ground fighting was the most dominant in fighting and they used bjj to beat guys twice their size and beat all other styles when there was only 2 rules in the sport.
foottothroat21 2 years ago
andddd jiu jitsu is the most widely taught self defense art. because when it comes down to it the majority of fights end up on the ground. youll have kung fu guys and self defense guys say the last place you want to end up in a fight is on the ground so theyre art sounds more practical. truth is more then half of street fights end up on the ground. so what works better? the early days of UFC proved this self defense style and kung fu was useless against real practical fighting like jiu jitsu

wich is best for self defence(against weapons, multiple attackers etc? Aikido or Krav-Maga?
knifeofwar 1 year ago
@knifeofwar i hae gereat respect for krav maga because it was made out of several studies done on martial arts...
however. aikido is a combat system just like aikijujutus basedon decades of combat training with wepons .. BUT they require allot of understanding and learning principal of the way things work..and tehy depend on how you use it as you see "realniaikido" uses it in this way.
generally if you are in immidate need of protection i would not choose aikido but i would choose both aikido
TheRogueMonk 1 year ago
@knifeofwar aikido is advanced martial arts like other japanese martial arts like bujinkan they are not applicable as the 1st concern.. principal and discpline is 1st consern because in the long run that is what makes you stay alive.. BUT if you experience you need to deffend yourself in your town and very often it wouldbe wise to supplement with some other art like krav maga.
TheRogueMonk 1 year ago
@knifeofwar btw realniakido is not aikido only its their way of using aikido more geared towards being applicable .. therefore they sacrifice some principals and traditional form.. this is appearant no matter what they will say.
if you tried realniaikido and found it was applicable for you it might be a good midle ground of both aikido and say krav maga.
dont forget krav maga was made specially for military .. so its not so easy to choose.. use your prefferance .
i do aikido for long term

hahahaha god i love these choreographed fake ass self defense videos. i cant believe people actually believe this shit. you WILL NOT find a video of this ever working on youtube. yet there are MILLIONS of street fight videos on youtube. show me one where self defense was used. it wasnt. its always just simply punching and wrestling. so why not learn boxing since basically all street fights are punching? and you will never see these techniques used against real trained fighters. ie in mma....FAKE
