Man I almost forgot about this game. It was amazing. My dad bought it for me when I was a kid since he loved the arcade classic. I wasn't expecting much from it but boy was I wrong. I spent so much hours playing this when I was a kid. This game frustrated the crap out of me as it went on. I would use my head to far lengths to try and solve those levels. God this game was amazing. Thanks for posting this.

The original Donkey Kong for Atari was actually a sort of remake of a Popeye game with similar features. So Donkey Kong and Mario resemble Brutus and Popeye... Doesn't that freak you out?? :O

@nywa08 I use VisualBoyAdvance, it's pretty good and easy to configurate. I used to wonder which room version was this one, since it's in color. Bunt then I found that BGB emulator turns some GB roms to it's Super Game Boy version. So if you want it to look exactly like this one, get BGB.

You can buy something for the ds called "R4" for $19. It lets you play emulators on the ds like the game boy. It also lets you play "backups" of your DS games too.

i think Mario dies the gruesomest deaths in this game. aside from collision damage, Mario can die by being burned to a crisp, drowning, being crushed flat both vertically and horizontally, falling on his head, and being drained by a vampire bat (which looks pretty convincing)

The reason why Pauline doesn't show the beeps is because the emulator isn't supposed to be able to play the appropriate sound, it's easy to tell that this is being run in Super Game Boy mode and not Game Boy mode. If it were being run in Game Boy mode, Pauline would make the appropriate beep. But in this case, the game references the 'HELP!' sound byte from the Super Game Boy, which doesn't exist in the Donkey Kong.

Alas, it's a lost advantage.
