Do you have any tips on how to practice it. I'm starting at the pui mosso, first movement. Did you literally practice it very slowly one bar at at ime, focussing on fingering, then build up tempo over time?
@Eztoez I practiced it very slowly like when you practice all other pieces. I usually practiced some pages at the time and slowly increasing the tempo.
Stop doing something different than playing the piano, you are a good pianist, you must dedicate all your time to practice the piano and offering concerts, come on my friend!!
man, this is so inspiring, playing the most difficult concerto to the recording of the orchestra. I'm practicing Chopin's second concerto first movement. It's of a lower technical level, I suppose, but I love that piece to death. Hope one day I could post that one on youtube.
@52NANO Well, there are a few concerti harder than Rach 3, but Rach 3 is definitely not one to sneeze at... Chopin 2 is a great one! :) My two favorites are Brahms 1 and Busoni.
That's really insane. You should really try Scriabins Etude 42 Opus 5! And the Mephisto Waltz. Though i've never played Rachmaninoffs hard pieces, i think it'll be a challenge for you to play the waltz ;)
@s0larb01 Thanks so much for watching. You mean the whole concerto? It took me around one and a half year I think. But this is because Im not professional pianist, but only practice in my free times (and weekends:)
@biokemiker I was wondering how long it took you to learn this by movement. I'm also an amateur. Just started working on this and from what i'm seeing, it looks like it'll definitely take me over a year or 2 to learn haha
All pianists know this is at least one of the 10 most dificult and demanding concertos of al time, also one of the most beautiful too ;). I think is a very good interpretation :D
Extraordinary job. Very inspiring performance. You've managed to bring the piece down to a level where us amateur pianists can have some hope of ever performing it. Thanks for the inspiration.
I loved watching this video! When I was a small kid, I would do a very similar thing - get out a favorite concerto recording and play along with it. For many years, I also had a brown upright piano, just like yours!
@superfly181 my music teacher, who has been playing piano for at least 20 years, still cannot play this song, poeple have gone isnane playing it he claims. So, yeah :D
I don't know if I was a child prodigy, but I didn't like to play piano when I was a child. But when I was around 12 years old, I got interested in playing piano. I do research as its interesting for me:)
Amazing playing! You should record playing it on a grand with a good mic to really bring out the quality of your great performance. Where do you get the orchestral accompanying music?
I've started playing the piano with the goal of eventiually learning this concerto. It's so beautifull. I've allready tried playing some parts of te cadenza. As they say, it's very difficult, but i notice that if you are familliar with rachmaninoff, you'll see it goes a lot easier and you're able to guess the following notes after every other note.
Btw, is the music in the background without piano? Where can i find that?
it just amazes me watching something like this. I am a pianist, but my gosh i could only ever hope to play like this. how long would you say this took you to learn in total? and i assume you will have originally learnt from sheets? Well done!
hi, thanks so much for watching and commenting on my video. It took me very long time, around 2 years to learn and memorize the whole concerto. But this is due to that I don't play piano as my profession. I'm only playing piano as my hobby, so I only have time when after I get free from my work:-)
It's somehow paradox, isn't it. The Concerto with the most notes per second, but surely also one of the Concerto's with the less notes for the main theme (opening theme). :D It's only around 10 different tones! :D
wat the hell man. you have just reached immortality, so powerful, just lovely, maybe one day i might just be able to play this if my fingers grow by like another 4 inches lol
I honestly love you. You are a genius. This piece is the measure of genius. It was excellent, wonderful, you are an incredible pianist. Yamaha, Steinway or whatever your preference should simply donate you their best grand. Thank you. xXx
